How to select the right chiller?
- Determine the water volume of your aquarium or seafood tank.
- If ambient air temperature is 89.6°F (32°C) and you expect to cool water to no lower than 71.6°F (22°C), choose a chiller based on MAXIMUM water volume.
- If you expect to cool water between 71.6°F (22°C) - 60.8°F (16°C), choose based on MINIMUM water volume.
- If you expect to cool water no higher than 60.8°F (16°C), consider a higher power chiller or reduce water volume.
- Factors like room ventilation, aquarium/tank structure, water flow rate, lighting system, and surrounding heat sources affect chilling efficiency.
Performance Curves:
The performance curves illustrate the relationship between ambient temperature, water temperature, and work time for the S2TL-3500 model under specific test conditions (Water Volume: 600L, Flow Rate: 8000L/H).
NOTES:
- Refrigerating effect is influenced by ambient temperature, water circulation flow rate, installation position, lighting system, surrounding heat sources, and room ventilation. Follow this manual for best results.
- Recommended water volume is related to ambient temperature and required water temperature. Reduce water volume when ambient temperature is high and a low water temperature is required for optimal performance.

IV. INSTALLATION
The installation must comply with safety precautions and warnings. The unit must be used with a circulating system and a filtering system.
Installation Method:
Aquarium/tank → filtering system/filter → water pump → inlet of chiller → outlet of chiller → aquarium/tank.
Diagram illustrating the water flow path for installation.
Tubing Connections:
- The product has two fittings: bottom for inlet, top for outlet. Use soft or hard tubing (hard tubing is better for high water flow). Refer to connector diameter for tubing size. Ensure no kinks or blockages in tubing.
- Position the outlet tube slightly above the water level in the aquarium/tank. Position the inlet tube 5cm-10cm above the bottom of the aquarium/tank. Ensure inlet and outlet are on opposite sides. For multi-layer tanks, position the outlet above the top layer for trickling down.
- Install the chiller in a well-ventilated area. Maintain clearance: at least 30cm for the back (air inlet) and sides, and at least 60cm for the front (air outlet). More clearance may be needed for high-power operation to prevent reduced cooling efficiency or malfunction.
Attention: Check the chiller inlet and outlet carefully. DO NOT MISCONNECT.
V. HOW TO USE
Before using the machine, please check:
- Power cord is securely plugged into a grounded, correctly rated outlet. Verify voltage and frequency match the nameplate.
- Fittings and joints are tight with no leaks.
- Tubing and connections are clean, without kinks, tangles, or clogs.
- Sufficient clearance is maintained around the chiller (30cm sides/back, 60cm front) for heat dissipation and maintenance. Ensure adequate ventilation if placed in an aquarium cabinet.
Using the Water Chiller:
- Turn on the water pump, ensuring the circulating cooling water system runs without blockage or leaks.
- Turn on the chiller and use the Control Panel to set the desired water temperature.
How it works?
The microcomputer controller manages temperature control, delayed protection, over-current protection, and blackout memory. It selects the cooling mode based on the difference between the actual and set water temperatures. Cooling mode is active when actual water temp ≥ setup temp + tolerance temp. The machine turns off when the actual water temp reaches the setup temp, maintaining it within a 2°F tolerance. The chiller will automatically restart after a power outage.
Adjust temperature:
- Press "SET" to enter setting mode; the control panel displays the pre-set temperature.
- Press ▲ to increase and ▼ to decrease the pre-set temperature.
- After 10 seconds of inactivity, the control panel returns to temperature display, and the setting takes effect. The green indicator blinks in "delayed start" state for 3 minutes before chilling begins.
Calibrate the temperature:
- Press and hold "SET" for 10 seconds to enter the Temp Error Adjustment Function; the display shows "CA".
- Press ▲ or ▼ until the displayed figure equals the tolerance needed (tolerance CA = actual water temp - displayed water temp), adjusting range is +4 to -4.
- After 10 seconds of no operation, the control panel exits to show the adjusted temperature.
Check indicator light:
- Power (Yellow): Indicates power supply is connected and the chiller is in stand-by state.
- Cooling (Green): Blinks in "delayed start" state, steady in "cooling" mode.
VI. MAINTENANCE
Regular maintenance is recommended annually. Always power off and unplug the unit before maintenance.
- Do not use chemicals like gasoline, benzene, or diluent to clean the chiller.
- Keep the control panel and motor dry. If any liquid is found, turn off power immediately and wipe dry before restarting.
- Do not operate the chiller if the cord or plug is damaged, or if it is malfunctioning or has been dropped.
- Do not attempt to service the unit yourself. Opening covers may expose you to dangerous voltage. Refer servicing to qualified personnel.
- If the chiller is not used for a long time, unplug the power cord, discharge residual water from tubes, clean inlet/outlet and hoses, dry thoroughly, and store in a safe, dry place, preferably in a poly bag and carton.
- Do not tilt or lay the machine on its back. If tilted or laid down, position it upright and wait 30 minutes before restarting.
- To maintain optimal refrigerating efficiency, clean the circulating and filter system monthly, including tubes, fittings, filter media, and the titanium tube inside the machine. Cut off power first, then clean with warm water, a toothbrush, and cloth.
- To prevent dust accumulation around air inlet/outlet terminals that can reduce efficiency, clean terminals regularly with a small vacuum or towel. Do not wash with water or any liquid.

VIII. TROUBLE-SHOOTING
Failures may result from improper operation or maintenance. Consult the table below before sending for repair.
Failure | Possible Cause | Possible Solution |
---|---|---|
The LCD doesn't display and the machine doesn't work | Bad power connection, blown fuse, or broken circuit | Change fuse, check the power switch and plug. Check if the voltage and frequency are rated correctly. |
The compressor stops working | High air and water temperature leading to high internal pressure, heat protector or capacitor failure | Improve heat dissipation and air ventilation. Change capacitor or heat protector. |
Refrigerating capacity reduces dramatically or no refrigeration at all after a long time of normal use | Refrigerant leakage or not enough refrigerant. Poor heat dissipation, condenser radiator fins blocked by dust. | Contact a certified technician to check and refill refrigerant. Improve heat dissipation and air ventilation. Remove dust from air inlet and parts. Reduce water volume as per specifications. |
The displayed water temp is different from the actual water temp | Tolerance between the LCD displayed temp and the actual water temp. | To calibrate water temperature: 1. Press and hold "SET" for 10 seconds to enter Temp Error Adjustment Function (display shows "CA"). 2. Press ▲ or ▼ until the displayed figure equals the tolerance intended to eliminate (tolerance CA = actual water temp - displayed water temp), adjusting range is +4 to -4. 3. After 10 seconds of inactivity, the control panel exits to show the adjusted temperature. |
Water temp reaching set-up temp, but the unit continues to run | Temperature sensor not installed at the right place, or temperature sensor failed. | Turn off or replace the heating switch; refer to operating instructions to adjust temperature control. Check the temperature sensor installation. |
Digital display shows "E1", cannot detect water temp | Temperature sensor not installed at the right place, or temperature sensor failed. | Check the temperature sensor installation. |
Note: If any abnormal conditions occur during normal use, do not attempt to disassemble and fix the machine yourself. Contact your supplier or certified technicians for repair.
