3 Refrigerant Control/Reporting
Topvex SoftCooler SR units contain more than 3kg of refrigerant per circuit. A control report must be established by a certified cooling technician before commissioning. Leakage control with record keeping is required annually. Reporting to the inspection authority is necessary if the total refrigerant amount on the property exceeds 10 kg. Regulations may vary by country; consult local government.

5 Transport and Storage
Store and transport the Topvex SoftCooler to protect it from physical damage. Cover the unit to prevent dust, rain, and snow ingress. The appliance is delivered as one piece on a pallet. Use a forklift for transport. Avoid transferring the unit once installed on the floor, as feet can be damaged by lateral loading.
[Warning] The unit is heavy. Handle with care during transport and mounting to avoid pinching injuries. Use protective clothing. Ensure the unit does not tip over.
6 Installation
6.1 Unpacking
Verify all ordered equipment is delivered before starting installation. Report any discrepancies to the supplier.
6.2 Where/How to Install
Topvex SoftCooler units are for indoor installation. Place the unit on a horizontal, flat, and completely levelled surface. Electronic components require temperatures between 0°C and +50°C for interference-free operation. Maximum operating temperatures are: Outside air +33°C, Extract air +28°C, Ambient temperature +28°C. Ensure easy access for regular maintenance and inspection doors. Leave sufficient space for opening doors and removing main components. General maintenance includes inspecting and cleaning the drip tray and flange coils. A floor drain is required for condensation water. Avoid placing the unit directly against a wall to prevent low-frequency noise vibrations; insulate the wall if necessary.

6.3.2 Installation Procedure
- Prepare the mounting surface: Ensure it is flat, level, and can support the unit's weight. Follow local rules and regulations.
- Lift the unit into place. [Warning] Beware of sharp edges during mounting and maintenance. Use a proper lifting device and protective clothing.
- Level the unit using the enclosed mounting feet.
- Connect the unit electrically to the mains via the all-pole circuit breaker (safety switch) located inside the unit. Wiring is routed through the top casing to the electrical connection box. Refer to the wiring diagram and chapter 6.4.2.1 for details.
[Warning] The unit's electrical connection must be preceded by an all-pole circuit breaker with a minimum 3 mm gap.
[Danger] Ensure Mains supply is disconnected before maintenance or electrical work. All electrical connections must be by an authorized installer according to local rules and regulations.
6.4 Dividing the Topvex SR Air Handling Unit
Before installing the Topvex SoftCooler SR, the Topvex SR unit must be divided (Figure 5). To split the unit: Remove the heat exchanger, supply air fan, and extract air filter. Loosen cable connectors. The unit halves are joined by 4 M10 screws. Identify sections: C. Control section, D. Heat recovery section. Gables can be dismounted by removing 6 MRX M6 screws. Reassemble in reverse order.
Figure 5: Left hand version
Diagram description: Illustrates the unit split into sections labeled A, B, C, D, E.
Note: When reassembling, ensure correct cable connections as per cable markings.
6.4.1 Assembly the Topvex SoftCooler SR
Figure 6: Left hand unit (right hand units are mirrored)
Diagram description: Shows the steps for assembling the SoftCooler with the air handling unit parts.
Ensure sealing stripes and faces between unit halves are undamaged. Place the SoftCooler between the air handling unit parts and push them together. Join with 4 M10 screws. Remove the cover plate on top, the exhaust air filter, and the supply air fan to access the inner upper mounting screws. Remount these components after securing the screws.
6.4.1.1 Condensation and Heat Insulation
Outdoor air and discharge ducts must be well insulated against condensation, especially in cold rooms. Use insulating covering (minimum 100 mm mineral wool) with a plastic diffusion barrier. For extremely low outdoor temperatures, additional insulation is required, totaling at least 150 mm. [Caution] Ensure all joints are covered with insulation and tape in cold places. Cover duct connections/ends during storage and installation. Do not connect tumble dryers to the ventilation system.
6.4.1.2 Condensation Drain
[Warning] The unit must not be operated before the condensation drain and water seal are connected to the floor drain. The drain connects under the drip-tray in the bottom of the unit. Use the included plastic connection pipe, cut to the correct height 'H' based on the table below, which relates 'H' to maximum negative pressure.
Figure 7: Dimension and assembly
Diagram description: Shows the condensation drain connection with height 'H' and a table relating 'H' to maximum negative pressure.
H (mm) | Max. Negative pressure (Pa) |
---|---|
85 | 500 |
110 | 750 |
135 | 1000 |
1 | Normal conditions |
An extra pipe is needed to connect the water seal outlet to the floor drain. Ensure this pipe has a minimum slope of 1:200 to the floor drain and is in a frost-free space.
Figure 8: Pipe to floor drain
Diagram description: Illustrates the pipe connection from the unit to the floor drain.
6.4.2 Electrical Connection
[Danger] Ensure Mains supply is disconnected before maintenance or electrical work. All electrical connections must be by an authorized installer according to local rules and regulations. Operation in the refrigerant cycle and handling refrigerants must be performed by certified personnel.
6.4.2.1 External/Internal Connections
Figure 9: Electrical connection, left hand unit

Connections:
- Wire the prepared control cable from the Topvex SoftCooler electrical connection box to the Topvex SR electrical cabinet (supply air part). Use the grommet to enter the cabinet and secure the cable with self-adhesive fasteners.
- Connect wires to the terminal block in the electrical cabinet according to labeling and the wiring diagram.
- Connect the cooler unit electrically to the mains (400V 3~, 50 Hz) via the all-pole circuit breaker (safety switch). The power cable connects directly to the SoftCooler electrical connection box. Dimension wire and fuses according to electrical data (Figure 4.2.2).
- Make electrical connections for the Topvex SR air handling unit as per its installation instruction.
Mains supply is the only external connection for the Topvex SoftCooler.

7.1 General
Control unit E28 (UC) senses the extract temperature sensor (ETS) to maintain the set extract temperature by sequentially controlling the compressor (CPR), heat exchanger (HE), and hot water/electrical heater (HWL/H, ELH). The supply air temperature sensor (SS) limits the supply air temperature.
7.2 Power Control
The compressor (CPR) is controlled steplessly by the frequency converter (FC) between set minimum and maximum frequencies.
7.3 Power Limitation
The programmable controller monitors the condensing pressure via the high pressure sensor (HPS). If the pressure exceeds the set limit, the compressor (CPR) speed is gradually reduced to prevent a high pressure alarm.
Note: This instruction covers functions for the Topvex SoftCooler SR. For a complete description, refer to "SR 09,11, TR 09-15 Installation instruction".
