Introduction
This manual provides basic information and recommendations for the Systemair Topvex SR compact air handling unit, covering its design, installation, start-up, and operation to ensure reliable performance. Thoroughly reading and following the guidelines and safety requirements in this manual is crucial for proper and safe operation.
Operation
General
This manual details common functions and settings. For more information on other functions, refer to the attached Corrigo E Manual, available at www.regin.se. Topvex units with an electrical heater have a 3-minute re-cooling period after being turned off. If a fire alarm is activated during heating, the fan stops immediately without re-cooling, which can trip the overheating protection. Manual reset for overheating protection is shown in Figure 2. The maximum allowed supply air temperature is 35°C.
Set the menu language
To set the menu language: Press the OK button while switching on the mains supply. Press OK again. Use the UP/DOWN buttons to select the desired language and press OK to confirm. Press the LEFT button to return to the previous menu. Language can also be changed via Configuration/System/Choose Language (page 16).
Control panel
Access rights
Three access levels are available: System (highest authority), Operator (read-only in configuration, read/write in settings/parameters), and Basic (read-only for all settings/parameters). Default passwords are: System 1111, Operator 3333, Basic 5555.
How to operate
Menus are organized in a horizontal tree structure. UP/DOWN buttons navigate menus at the current level; RIGHT/LEFT buttons move between menu levels. UP/DOWN buttons adjust parameter values, and RIGHT/LEFT buttons move between digits within a parameter. The OK button confirms selections, and the C button aborts changes. The ALARM button accesses the alarm list.
Changing parameters
Parameters that can be set are indicated by a flashing LED. Press OK to change a parameter, turning the LED steady. A cursor appears at the first settable value. Use UP/DOWN to change the value and RIGHT/LEFT to move between digits. Press OK to confirm. Settings outside the valid intervals are rejected. The cursor moves to the next settable value automatically. Press RIGHT to skip a value. To abort a change, press and hold the C button until the cursor disappears.
Navigating the menus
The start display is the root of the menu tree. Pressing DOWN navigates to the lowest level, and UP moves back. To enter a higher menu level, position the marker using UP/DOWN and press RIGHT. Submenus are indicated by an arrow symbol; press RIGHT to access them and LEFT to go back.
Alarms
The ALARM button (Figure 4, pos. 1) opens the alarm queue. Active and unacknowledged alarms are displayed. The alarm LED (Figure 4, pos. 2) blinks for unacknowledged alarms and is steady for acknowledged active alarms. Use UP/DOWN to cycle through multiple alarms. Alarms can be acknowledged or blocked using OK and UP/DOWN buttons. Select Cancel and press LEFT to return to the start menu. Refer to the Commissioning protocol (page 26) for alarm settings.
Extra stop function
For critical alarms like high temperature limits or frost protection, the stop function is always reset to Active, even if set to Inactive by the operator. This is due to program space limitations.
Starting up the unit
- Ensure all external equipment is connected.
- Verify fuses (Figure 2, pos. 21) are switched on.
- Switch on the supply voltage.
- Set the present time and date, control temperature, and program the week schedule.
- Configure any extra functions as needed.

Warning
To prevent electrical shock, fire, or other damage due to improper use or operation, adhere to the following:
- Install the system according to mounting instructions.
- Insulate mains supply before service or cleaning.
- Do not connect a tumble dryer directly to the ventilation system.
- Ensure filters are correctly mounted before operation.
- Perform maintenance as per instructions.
Maintenance
Maintenance of the Topvex unit should be performed 3-4 times per year. In addition to general cleaning:
- Changing Supply/Extract air filter (indicated as 'Filter guard'): Bag filters must be replaced as needed. Pressure guards monitor filters. Initial pressure drop: F7 filters ≈ 80Pa, F5 filters ≈ 45Pa. Final pressure drop: ≈ 240 Pa.
- Checking the heat exchanger (Annually): Clean the exchanger surface with a vacuum cleaner brush fitting to remove dust buildup and maintain efficiency. Avoid damaging the surface. Compressed air can be used if necessary. Check and replace the transmission belt if worn or slack.
- Checking the fans (Annually): Clean fans with a cloth or soft brush to remove dust and grease buildup. White spirit can be used for stubborn deposits. Ensure fans are dry before remounting.
- Cleaning extract louvers and inlet diffusers: Remove and wash diffusers/louvers in hot soapy water. Reinstall them in their original positions to maintain system balance.
- Checking the fresh air intake: Clean the air intake grille at least twice a year to prevent clogging by leaves or pollution.
- Checking the duct system: Clean duct runs as necessary to remove dust and grease settlements that reduce efficiency. Steel ducts can be cleaned using a brush soaked in hot soapy water.
Note: The roof cowl should also be checked and cleaned annually.
Troubleshooting
Before contacting a service representative, check the following:
- Fan(s) do not start: Check for active alarms, control panel settings (times, schedules, modes), and fuse integrity.
- Reduced airflow: Check fan speed settings, damper operation, filter condition, diffuser/louver cleanliness, fan cleanliness, air intake/roof unit for blockages, and duct system for damage or buildup.
- Cold supply air: Check control temperature, overheating thermostat status (reset if necessary via connection box, Figure 2, pos. 26), extract filter condition, heat exchanger rotation, and fan thermo contact status (reset if necessary, see page 3).
- Noise/vibrations: Clean fan impellers and ensure fan mounting screws are tightened.
Service
Before contacting service, note the unit's specification and production number from the data plate.
