When do I use these SKUs?

These SKUs can be used for K-12 and municipal library customers.

What services do I need?

Our EDU SKU software policy allows access to all major and minor software updates for LAN Base/IP Base feature sets. The EDU SKUs also include NBD HW replacement for the life of the product and 3 yrs of TAC Support (phone only).

When I call the TAC call center, what do I tell them?

The EDU warranty has three years of TAC. You need to provide: serial number/model number/PID for HW; state the issue. Be sure to tell TAC you have the "EDU" version of the Extended Lifetime warranty. Note: The product PID has an EDU identifier, the "EDU" warranty in our systems carries the details of what is included in the warranty.

Will I be able to see all my EDU SKUs with other devices that are under contract?

No. Warranty enriched with Support Entitlements (TAC, RMA) does not equal a Support Contract. So, if you didn't buy a contract on EDU SKUs, you won't be able to list them with those devices that have a contract.

Why don't I see my EDU SKUs when I log on using my CCO (Cisco.com) user ID?

You will only see your EDU SKUs when they are covered by a service contract. Warranty only items are not visible.

Are they orderable?

YES! Check your price list in CCW; it must be set to "Global Price List US Availability."

You don't have an EDU SKU for the switch I need, now what?

We picked the most used switches in K-12. If you don't see what you need on previous slide, add the non-EDU switch option on your Bill of Materials.

I found WLC EDU SKUS and some AP SKUS; I can't find AP SKUs for the new CW9166I or CW9164I AP. Why not?

Only select APs are included in the EDU promotion. However, the WLC EDU SKUs satisfies all licensing needs.

Are they orderable?

Yes! Check your price list in CCW; it must be set to "Global Price List US Availability."

Is software required for EDU SKUs?

Yes, software SKUs need to be added for all EDU SKUS.

I can't find the EDU SKUs listed in this guide?

Make sure you have set up your Preferred Price List properly. Under your profile name, select My Profile and preferences. Then under "I want to manage my..." select preferences and then General. Select drop down for "Preferred Price List" and select: "Global Price List US Availability."

If you do not have "Global Price List US Availability" as an option in the drop-down menu, open a CCW case to request the option be added. Click the "Help?" tag at the bottom right side of the page. Select "Open a Case" from the menu. If you are still not seeing the SKUs, please contact us_k-12_education_product_family@cisco.com.

Additional Information

What does it mean by phone-only TAC?

Warranty coverage will always require a call to open an RMA and will not be managed online. Historically that's to make sure the correct part is sent and the RMA solves the issue. Warranty is not a service contract and we do not map a product only supported by warranty to any contract(s) the customer may hold.

Is the EDU warranty the same as SMARTnet?

No. The EDU ELLW provides an extension of Cisco's 90-day hardware warranty to 36 months, and provides access to Cisco TAC (phone only). SMARTnet has multiple levels of support.

Is the K-12 Bundled Warranty (CON SW) available for EDU SKUs?

No. The ELLW that comes with the EDU SKUs provides greater coverage than the K-12 Bundled Warranty.

Can we still receive the K-12 Bundled Warranty Offer Discount for EDU SKUs?

The K-12 Bundled Warranty Offer Discount is currently available for most K-12 EDU SKU Product Family products. In your deal in CCW, go to Incentives, and determine if the K-12 Bundled Warranty Offer is available for your selected EDU SKUS.

What services do I need to add in years 4+ for TAC access?

EDU specific CON-SW.

Is it possible to set-up multi-year services above 3 years up front?

No, not with the EDU promotion SKUs.

What should I do if I can't download software updates for EDU products?

Open a TAC case and have the Call in Agent transfer it over to TAC Entitlement/Service Relations. Once your case has been transferred to TAC Entitlement, reference the below link.
