IBS-M2 Wi-Fi Gateway (receiver)
The IBS-M2 Wi-Fi Gateway acts as the central receiver for the wireless pool thermometer system. It connects to your Wi-Fi network to transmit data to the INKBIRD app.
Key display elements on the gateway include:

The display shows readings for "IN" (internal gateway data) and "OUT" (data from the connected transmitter, e.g., pool thermometer).
Pool Thermometer (Transmitter)
The Pool Thermometer is the submersible sensor that measures the water temperature. It transmits data wirelessly to the IBS-M2 Wi-Fi Gateway.
The transmitter's display shows:
- Battery Level: ?
- Current Detected Temperature.

3. App Connection
3.1 Download the INKBIRD App
Search for the "INKBIRD App" on Google Play or the App Store. You can also scan the provided QR code (not displayed here) to download it directly.
- iOS devices require iOS 10.0 or above.
- Android devices require Android 4.4 or above.
- The device supports a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi router only.
3.2 Registration
- Open the INKBIRD app, select your Country/Region. A verification code will be sent to you.
- Enter the verification code to confirm your identity. Registration is now complete.
- Registering an account is necessary before using the INKBIRD app for the first time.
3.3 Connect to your phone
- Open the app and click the "+" icon to select IBS-M2 to start the connection process.
- Plug the IBS-M2 Gateway into a USB power supply, power it on, and click "Next Step" to continue.
- Select the Wi-Fi network you want to connect to and enter the password. If your Wi-Fi does not have a password, you can leave this field blank. Click "Next Step".
- Press and hold the Wi-Fi button ? on the gateway for 5 to 8 seconds until the Wi-Fi indicator flashes, indicating it has entered the pairing state. Then click "Next Step".
- Your phone will automatically enter the device scan page. Once the IBS-M2 is found, click "Next Step" to continue.
- The device will automatically pair with the network. A "The device is connecting to the network." message will appear.
- Pairing is successful. The app will display "Wi-Fi already connected".
3.4 Main Interface of INKBIRD App
The main interface displays real-time data from connected devices. Key elements include:
- Navigation Icons:
- ⚙️ Go to settings.
- ➕ Go to add sub-devices.
- ? Go to see the historical graph.
- Device Status: Shows the IBS-M2 gateway status (e.g., "Online").
- Current Readings: Displays current temperature (e.g., 32.6°C) and current humidity (e.g., 71.8%).
- Historical Data: A graph area shows past temperature and humidity readings with timestamps.
3.5 Add Sub-Devices
To add a pool thermometer (sub-device) to the gateway:
- Ensure the gateway host is plugged in and powered on. Follow step 3.2 to start the app connection if not already done.
- Install the batteries for the sub-device (pool thermometer) and power it on. Place it as close as possible to the gateway host.
- In the INKBIRD app, click the "+" icon to add a device. Choose the relevant sub-device (e.g., IBS-P02R) from the list. The sub-device will automatically establish a connection and its channel number will be displayed.
4. Action Button Instructions
IBS-M2 Wi-Fi Gateway
- CH/R Button:
- Press to switch between channels (CH1, CH2, CH3...CH9). The screen will display the measured temperature of the chosen channel. If CH0 is selected, the measured temperature of each channel will be displayed alternately for 3 seconds.
- Press and hold for 5 seconds to reset the registration of all gateway sub-devices (transmitters). Ensure sub-devices are placed close to the gateway before re-adding them via the app.
- °F/°C Button: Press to switch the temperature unit between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F).
- WIFI Button: Press and hold for 5 seconds to reset Wi-Fi and pair with the network again.
Pool Thermometer (Transmitter)
To access the transmitter's button, unscrew the cover of the pool thermometer.
- TX/CF Button:
- Press to transmit the detected temperature from the pool thermometer to the temperature and humidity monitor and light up the indicator once.
- Press and hold for more than 5 seconds to switch the temperature unit between °C and °F on the pool thermometer.
⚠️ Important: The green part is a waterproof gasket, which should not be removed at any time!
5. Safeguards
- Please do not disassemble the product if you are not a professional.
- Be sure that the sensor is not covered with dust, as dust may lead to inaccurate measurements.
- Do not use alcohol to clean the sensor.
6. Product Warranty
This item carries a 1-year warranty against defects in either components or workmanship. During this period, products that prove to be defective will, at the discretion of INKBIRD, be either repaired or replaced without charge.
7. FCC Requirement
Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user's authority to operate the equipment. This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions:
- This device may not cause harmful interference.
- This device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
- Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
- Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
- Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.
- Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.
This equipment complies with FCC radiation exposure limits set forth for an uncontrolled environment. This equipment should be installed and operated with a minimum distance of 20cm between the radiator and your body. This transmitter must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter.
