Initial Setup Guide
This guide provides essential steps for setting up your Onkyo A-50 Integrated Amplifier.
Note: The number of accessories may vary depending on the model.
Setup Steps
- Unboxing: Carefully unpack the amplifier and all included accessories.
- Connections: Connect your audio sources (e.g., Turntable, CD player) and speakers to the appropriate terminals on the rear of the amplifier.
- Power Connection: Connect the AC power cord to the amplifier and plug it into a wall outlet.
- Setup Microphone & Safety: Connect the included setup microphone (if applicable) to the designated port for automatic sound correction. Review the Safety Information booklet.
- Remote Control: Insert batteries into the remote control for convenient operation.
Rear Panel Connections
The rear panel features various ports for connecting your devices:
- PHONO: For connecting a turntable (supports MM/MC cartridges). Includes GND terminal.
- CD: For connecting a CD player.
- TV (ARC): For connecting a TV via HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel).
- USB (5V/1A): For power output or connecting compatible USB devices.
- ETHERNET: For wired network connection.
- OPT (DIGITAL IN): For connecting digital audio sources via optical cable.
- ANALOG 1, ANALOG 2: For connecting analog audio sources.
- PRE OUT (L/R): Pre-amplifier outputs.
- SPEAKERS (L/R): For connecting your passive speakers. Ensure correct polarity.
Speaker terminals typically accommodate wires up to 12mm in diameter.
Audio Source Connections
Turntable: Connect your turntable's audio output to the PHONO input. Ensure the turntable's ground wire is connected to the GND terminal.
CD Player: Connect your CD player's audio output to the CD input.
Speakers: Connect your left and right speakers to the SPEAKERS L and R terminals respectively, observing polarity (+/-).
Advanced Setup & Connectivity
Sound Correction: Using the supplied setup microphone plugged into the dedicated port allows the amplifier to automatically adjust audio settings for optimal sound quality.
Bluetooth Setup:
- Enable Bluetooth on your mobile device.
- On the amplifier, navigate to Bluetooth settings (e.g., using the INPUT SELECTOR or a dedicated button).
- Select "Bluetooth On" on the amplifier.
- Pair your mobile device with the "A-50" device name.
- The LED indicator will show the Bluetooth connection status.
Network Connection: For network features and app control, connect the amplifier to your home network via ETHERNET or Wi-Fi (if supported, often configured via the app). Follow the guidance provided by the "Onkyo Controller" app.
Onkyo Controller App: Download the "Onkyo Controller" app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android) to control your amplifier, manage settings, and configure network connections.
