READ AND SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS

Before Using the Cooktop

Induction Cooktop Characteristics

Induction cooking is safe, advanced, efficient, and economical, generating heat directly to the cookware bottom via an electromagnetic field. The ceramic glass surface may remain hot from residual heat.

Pan Detection

The system automatically detects heating areas and suitable cookware for safe operation.

Cookware Size Detection

The system adapts power levels to the size of the cookware.

Efficient

Induction cooking heats faster and uses less energy.

Cookware

Using Compatible Cookware

Requires magnetic material. Look for the 'Induction Compatible Symbol' or test with a magnet. Heavy, high-quality stainless steel is recommended. Partially magnetic cookware may result in uneven heating.

Proper Cookware Material

Magnetic stainless steel, Cast iron, Enameled iron, Nickel.

NOTE: Some cookware may produce normal operating noises.

Improper Cookware Material

Non-magnetic stainless steel, cookware with bottoms less than specified sizes (4.7" / 120mm or 5.7" / 145mm), pots with stands, heat resistant glass, ceramic, copper, aluminum.

Attention:

Sliding cookware can scratch the ceramic glass surface, affecting its appearance and making cleaning difficult. DO NOT SLIDE COOKWARE across the cooktop surface.

CAUTION: Always use oven mitts or pot holders to protect hands from burns when touching hot cookware.

Cookware Recommendations

Correct: Cookware centered, flat bottom, straight sides, correct size, rests completely on surface, balanced.
Wrong: Not centered, curved/warped bottoms, incorrect size, does not rest completely, heavy handle tilts pan.

NOTE: Incorrect conditions may prevent heating. Failure to heat is indicated by a flashing power level.

Use the Correct Cookware Size

The thick outer line on each Induction Heater indicates minimum and maximum cookware size. Cookware should cover 1/2" inside the outer line and not extend more than 1/2" beyond the thicker line. The pan must make full contact without touching metal trims.

NOTE: If cookware is too small, the power level will flash, and the pan will not heat.

Cooktop Noise

Induction fields generate heat. A cooling fan runs when multiple zones are active. Sounds may include clicking (low power), operational noises varying by cookware, vibration from warped bottoms, cracking from layered materials, low humming (high power), whistling (multiple zones, layered material), and vibrating handles. Heavy-weight, quality cookware is recommended. Cast iron and enamel cookware are less likely to vibrate.

Cooktop Features

Models

This manual covers different models. Your cooktop may have some or all features.

SCH2443GB (24" Model)

Features four cooking zones:

SCH3043GB (30" Model)

Both models have a Serial/Model number label (6) underneath the cooktop.

Control Panel

The control panel for SCH2443GB & SCH3043GB features touch-sensitive keypads for operating the heaters. Numbers next to control panel illustrations indicate pages with feature descriptions.

Keypads include: ON/OFF, +, -, Timer, Warm/Simmer, Melt, Boost, Bridge, Pause, and Cooling Zone indicators.

Cooktop Workstation Side Accessories (Model SKR00A7FS)

Optional accessories include a kitchen-grade stainless-steel Cooling Zone (8" x 21") and a Spoon Rest (6" x 21") with two removable drip trays. These accessories attach magnetically to the cooktop edges or to each other, or can stand on the counter. The Cooling Zone is for resting hot cookware. The Spoon Rest protects countertops from stains and drips. All items are dishwasher-safe.

Using the Cooktop

TO LOCK: Touch and hold the LOCK keypad until a tone sounds. 'L' blinks for 3 seconds. Only ON/OFF keypads are operational. Touching other keypads causes the display to blink and alternate between 'L' and the power level.

TO UNLOCK: Touch and hold LOCK keypad again until a tone sounds. 'L' blinks for 3 seconds and disappears.

Operating the Induction Heaters

Turn On an Induction Heater

  1. Place a compatible pot or pan on the desired Induction Heater.
  2. Touch the ON/OFF keypad. A tone sounds, and '0' displays.
  3. Use + and - keypads to select power level (1-9) or Power Boost (P) within 10 seconds. The heater will turn OFF if no level is set.

NOTE: If incompatible cookware is detected, the display blinks 'IJ' and the heater turns OFF after 15 seconds.

Turn Off an Induction Heater

Select the heater and touch the ON/OFF keypad until a tone sounds and the power level display clears.

Standard Settings

Standard heat settings (Low, Medium High, Medium, Medium Low) are available for melting, warming, simmering, browning, and bringing liquids to a boil.

Holding + or - quickens speed. If no power level is set within 10 seconds, the heater turns OFF.

NOTE: The unit has safeguards against parching. Heating may appear intermittent during high-temperature cooking.

Automatic Power Sharing

The complete induction hob is limited to 7500W. Pairs of heaters are limited to 3500W. When one heater in a pair is set to a high power level, the other heater's power is reduced to stay within the limit.

To Cancel the Timer

  1. Select the timer to cancel.
  2. Touch and hold TIMER keypad for 3 seconds.

IMPORTANT: Canceling a timer does NOT turn off the heater.

Hot Surface Indicator

Heaters can remain hot after cooking. If power level is 0 and heater is ON, display blinks '0' and 'H' for residual heat. If heater is OFF, display blinks 'H'.

WARNING: Surfaces remain hot after power failure, even if the indicator is not displayed. The indicator does not automatically illuminate once power is restored.

Cleaning and Care

After each use, ensure controls are OFF and the cooktop has cooled completely. Apply approximately 1 teaspoon (5 ml) of non-abrasive cleaner with a damp cloth. Use a second cloth to remove residue, then wipe dry.

Do Not Use the Following to Clean Your Unit

NOTE: Sugary products can damage the ceramic glass surface. Clean spills like sugar, syrup, or milk immediately.

Metal Marks and Scratches

  1. Sliding pots/pans can leave metal markings, removable with ceramic glass cleaner.
  2. If pots with aluminum/copper overlay boil dry, they may leave black discoloration, which should be removed immediately before heating again to prevent permanence.

WARNING: DO NOT USE OR CLEAN DAMAGED COOKTOP. If the cooktop cracks or breaks, turn off power at the circuit breaker and call an authorized servicer.

Sugary Spills, Milk, Tomato-Based Products, Melted Plastics or Heavily Burned-On Residue

These spills can cause pitting if not removed while hot. WARNING: USE SPECIAL CARE WHEN REMOVING SPILLS WHILE COOKTOP SURFACE IS HOT.

  1. Turn off all heaters and remove pans.
  2. Using an oven mitt, use a razor blade scraper at a 30° angle to scrape spills from hot to cooler areas.
  3. Remove spills with paper towels.

NOTE: Use a new, sharp razor scraper. Do not use the razor blade for daily cleaning.

If the ceramic glass surface is damaged by pitting, it should be replaced.
