Before Using:

  • Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.
  • Do not use on wet surfaces.
  • Do not allow to be used as a toy. Close attention is necessary when used by or near children.
  • Use only as described in this manual. Use only manufacturer's recommended attachments.
  • Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers and all body parts away from openings and moving parts.
  • Do not use with a damaged plug. If the tool is not working as it should, or if it has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, return it to an authorized service center.
  • When using in direct sunshine, keep out of water.
  • Don't expose to rain when operating the machine.
  • Store indoors. Do not expose to rain or water. Avoid direct sunshine.
  • Remove the battery when not in use and before servicing.
  • Turn off all controls before removing the battery.

Safety Information When Using This Blower

  • Do not operate power tools in an explosive atmosphere (flammable liquids, gases, or dust). Power tools create sparks that may ignite dust or fumes.
  • To reduce the risk of electric shock, the battery charger has a polarized plug (one blade wider than the other) and requires a polarized extension cord. Ensure proper fit with wall outlet. Contact a qualified electrician if needed. Do not alter plugs or cords.
  • Never allow children to operate the equipment. Adults must have proper instruction.
  • Wear eye protection marked to comply with ANSI Z87.1.
  • Do not handle charger, plug, or terminals with wet hands.
  • Do not charge the unit outdoors.
  • Wear heavy long pants, boots, and gloves. Avoid loose garments or jewelry that could get caught in moving parts or motor.
  • Do not force the tool. Use the correct tool for your application.
  • Do not operate barefoot or wearing sandals. Wear protective footwear.
  • Secure long hair above shoulder level to prevent entanglement.
  • Keep firm footing and balance. Do not overreach.
  • Do not use the tool if the switch does not turn it on or off. Such tools are dangerous and must be repaired.
  • Keep all bystanders, children, and pets at least 50 ft. (15 m) away.
  • For household use only.
  • Use only Kobalt 40-volt batteries (e.g., KB 245-06, KB 340-06, KB 540-06, KB 640-06, KB 240-06, KB 440-06).
  • Use only Kobalt 40-volt charger (KRC 40-06).
  • Do not operate when tired, ill, or under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication.
  • Do not operate in poor lighting.
  • Keep body parts away from moving parts and hot surfaces.
  • Do not put objects into openings. Keep openings free of dust, lint, hair, and anything that may reduce airflow.
  • Check the work area before each use. Remove objects that can be thrown or become entangled (rocks, broken glass, nails, wire, string).
  • Use only identical manufacturer's replacement parts and accessories.

For Battery-Operated Equipment

  • Prevent unintentional starting: Ensure the switch is OFF before connecting/disconnecting battery pack.
  • Disconnect the battery pack before making adjustments, changing accessories, or storing.
  • Recharge only with the specified manufacturer's charger.
  • Use equipment only with specifically designated battery packs.
  • When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from small metal objects (paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws) that can short terminals. Shorting terminals can cause burns or fire.
  • Avoid contact with liquid ejected from the battery under abusive conditions. If contact occurs, flush with water. Seek medical help if liquid contacts eyes.
  • Do not use a battery pack or equipment that is damaged or modified.
  • Do not expose a battery pack or equipment to fire or excessive temperature (above 265°F / 130°C), which may cause an explosion.
  • Servicing should be performed by a qualified repair person using identical replacement parts.
  • Follow all charging instructions and do not charge outside specified temperature ranges.
  • Do not modify or attempt to repair the appliance or battery pack except as indicated in the instructions.

Child Safety

  • Keep children out of the working area and under the care of a responsible adult.
  • Do not allow children under 14 years of age to operate this blower. Children 14 and older must read, understand, and be supervised.
  • Stay alert and turn the blower off if a child or other person enters the working area.
  • Use extreme care when approaching blind corners, doorways, shrubs, trees, or other objects that may obscure your view of a child.

California Proposition 65 Warning

Preparation and Assembly Instructions

Ensure all parts are present before assembly. Compare parts with the package contents list.

WARNING: To prevent accidental starting, always remove the battery pack from the tool when assembling parts.

Assembling the Blower Tube

Slide the blower tube (B) over the slot (E) until the lock button (F) on the blower is inserted into the slot. Press the safety button (G) to remove the blower tube.

Installing and Removing the Battery

To install the battery: Align the battery with the cavity in the handle housing (A). Grasp the trigger handle (H) firmly. Insert the battery until the battery release button (I) locks into place (you should hear a "click").

To remove the battery: Press and hold the battery release button (I) with a firm grip. Grasp the trigger handle firmly. Pull the battery pack out of the handle. Note: The battery fits snugly; a strong pull may be required.

Important: The battery pack is not fully charged when purchased. Place the battery pack in the charger and fully charge it before first use.

Operating Instructions

  1. Starting/Stopping the Blower

    Squeeze the trigger (J) to start the blower. Release the trigger slightly to decrease speed. Release the trigger completely to stop the blower.

  2. Using the Cruise Control Lever

    Squeeze the trigger (J) to start the unit. Pull the cruise control lever (K) clockwise to increase and lock the speed. Push the lever counterclockwise to decrease speed. Note: The trigger's maximum speed setting is determined by the cruise control lever position.

  3. Using the Turbo Button

    Squeeze the trigger (J) to start the unit. Press the turbo button (L) to operate at the highest speed. Releasing the turbo button returns the blower to the previous speed. Note: Operating on turbo speed significantly reduces runtime.

  4. Operating the Blower

    • Blow around the outer edges of a debris pile to avoid scattering.
    • Use rakes and brooms to loosen debris before blowing.
    • In dusty conditions, slightly dampen surfaces if water is available.
    • Conserve water by using blowers instead of hoses for lawn/garden tasks like cleaning gutters, screens, patios, grills, porches, and gardens.
    • Be aware of children, pets, open windows, or freshly washed cars. Blow debris safely away.
    • Clean up after use and dispose of debris properly.
    • Never cover air vents. Keep them clear of obstructions and debris for proper motor cooling.

Care and Maintenance

WARNING: Remove the battery pack before adjusting, inspecting, or cleaning the blower to avoid personal injury and risks of fire and electric shock.

Cleaning:

  • Remove the battery pack.
  • Brush or blow dust and debris out of the air vents using compressed air or a vacuum. Keep air vents clear of obstructions, sawdust, and wood chips. Do not spray, wash, or immerse air vents in water.
  • Wipe the housing and plastic components with a moist, soft cloth. Do not use strong solvents or detergents, as they may cause damage or a shock hazard.

Troubleshooting

5-Year Limited Warranty

This 40V Lithium-Ion blower is warranted to the original purchaser from the original purchase date for five (5) years against defects in material and workmanship. If you believe the blower is defective, return it with proof of purchase to the place of purchase for a free replacement or refund, or call 1-888-3KOBALT (1-888-356-2258) for warranty service.

This warranty is void if:

  • Defects result from repairs or alterations made or attempted by others, or unauthorized use of nonconforming parts.
  • Damage is due to normal wear, abuse (including overloading), improper maintenance, neglect, or accident.
  • Damage is due to use after partial failure or use with improper accessories or unauthorized repair/alteration.

This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights that vary from state to state.
