KeyPad Plus User Manual
Updated June 27, 2024
Introduction
KeyPad Plus is a wireless touch keypad designed for managing the Ajax system with encrypted contactless cards and key fobs. It is designed for indoor installation and supports a "silent alarm" feature when a duress code is entered. The keypad manages security modes using passwords and cards or key fobs, indicating the current security mode with an LED light.
⚠ The keypad only works with Hub (4G) Jeweller, Hub Plus Jeweller, Hub 2 Jeweller, Hub Hybrid, and Hub 2 Plus Jeweller running OS Malevich 2.11 and higher. Connection to Hub (2G) Jeweller and the ocBridge Plus and uartBridge integration modules is not supported.
The keypad operates as part of the Ajax system by connecting via the Jeweller secure radio communication protocol to the hub. The communication range without obstacles is up to 1700 meters. The pre-installed battery life is up to 4.5 years.

Operating Principle
KeyPad Plus arms and disarms the security of the entire facility or separate groups. It also allows activating the Night Mode. Security modes can be controlled using codes, cards, or key fobs.
Codes and Identification
The keypad supports general and personal codes, as well as arming without entering a code. It can also identify users via Tag key fobs and Pass cards using DESFire® technology, which is based on the ISO 14443 international standard and combines 128-bit encryption and copy protection.
KeyPad Plus Supported Code Types:
- Keypad code: A general code set up for the keypad. Events are delivered to Ajax apps on behalf of the keypad.
- User code: A personal code set up for a user connected to the hub. Events are delivered to Ajax apps on behalf of the user.
- Keypad access code: Set up for a person not registered in the system. Events are delivered to Ajax apps with a name associated with this code.
- RRU code: An access code for rapid response units, activated after an alarm and valid for a specified period.
ℹ The number of personal, access, and RRU codes depends on the hub model. Access codes are not supported by the Hub (2G) Jeweller control panel.
To activate the KeyPad Plus before entering a code or using a Tag/Pass, slide your hand over the touch panel from top to bottom. This enables the button backlight and makes the keypad beep.
ℹ The Auto-wake on Delay when Entering function automatically activates the keypad when Delay When Entering is set up. This function is supported by KeyPad Plus Jeweller with firmware version 5.60.7.0 or higher and hubs with OS Malevich 2.19 or higher.
Indicators and Statuses
The KeyPad Plus is equipped with LED indicators that show the current security mode and any keypad malfunctions. The security status is displayed only when the keypad is active (backlight is on).
The keypad can be used without ambient lighting due to its backlight. Button presses are accompanied by a sound signal. Backlight brightness and keypad volume are adjustable in the settings. After 4 seconds of inactivity, the keypad reduces backlight brightness, and after 8 seconds, it enters power-saving mode and turns off the display.
ℹ If the batteries are discharged, the backlight turns on at the minimum level regardless of the settings.
Function Button Modes:
- Off: The button is disabled.
- Alarm: Pressing the Function button sends an alarm to the security company monitoring station and all users.
- Mute Interconnected Fire Detectors Alarm: Mutes the alarm of Ajax fire detectors. Available only if Interconnected Fire Detectors Alarm is enabled (Hub → Settings → Service → Fire detectors settings).
Duress Code: KeyPad Plus supports a duress code to simulate alarm deactivation. The Ajax app and sirens will not reveal the user, but the security company and other system users will be warned.
Two-stage arming: KeyPad Plus can participate in two-stage arming but cannot be used as a second-stage device.
Event Transmission: The Ajax system can connect to the CMS and transmit events and alarms using protocols like SurGard (Contact ID), ADEMCO 685, and SIA (DC-09).
⚠ KeyPad Plus is incompatible with Hub (2G) Jeweller, third-party security central units, and ocBridge Plus and uartBridge integration modules.

Choosing a Location
[Image showing the KeyPad Plus mounted on a wall in a modern interior.]
⚠ When holding KeyPad Plus in your hands or using it on a table, we cannot guarantee that the touch buttons will work properly.
It is good practice to install the keypad 1.3 to 1.5 meters above the floor for convenience. Install the keypad on a flat, vertical surface to ensure firm attachment and avoid false tamper triggering.
Placement is determined by distance from the hub/range extender and obstacles (walls, floors) that prevent radio signal passage.
What affects the radio communication range
⚠ Be sure to check the Jeweller signal strength at the installation site. If the signal strength is low (a single bar), stable operation cannot be guaranteed. Repositioning the device by 20 cm can significantly improve signal reception. If signal strength remains low or unstable, use a radio signal range extender.
Do not install the keypad:
- In places where clothing, power cables, or Ethernet wire may obstruct the keypad, leading to false triggering.
- Inside premises with temperature and humidity outside permissible limits, which could damage the device.
- In places with unstable or poor signal strength with the hub or range extender.
- Within 1 meter of a hub or radio signal range extender.
- Close to electrical wiring, which may cause communication interferences.
- Outdoors, as this could damage the device.
Installing the keypad:
⚠ Prior to installing KeyPad Plus, select the optimal location following the requirements of this manual.
- Attach the keypad to the surface with double-sided adhesive tape and carry out signal strength and attenuation tests. If signal strength is unstable or one bar is displayed, move the keypad or use the radio signal range extender.
- Check the convenience for code entry using Tag or Pass. Relocate if inconvenient.
- Remove the keypad from the SmartBracket mounting plate.
- Attach the SmartBracket mounting plate to the surface using bundled screws (at least two fixing points). Ensure the perforated corner is fixed for tamper response.
- Slide KeyPad Plus onto the mounting plate and tighten the mounting screw at the bottom.
- As soon as the keypad is fixed, it shall blink once with LED X (tamper triggered). If the LED does not blink, check the tamper status in the Ajax app and ensure the plate is firmly attached.
ℹ Double-sided adhesive tape is for temporary attachment only. The device may detach and fall, leading to failure. Tamper will not trigger if attached with adhesive tape.
Maintenance
[Image showing the KeyPad Plus mounted on a wall, with a focus on its clean design.]
Check the keypad's functioning regularly (once or twice a week). Clean the body from dust, cobwebs, and other contaminants using a soft dry cloth suitable for equipment care.
Do not use substances containing alcohol, acetone, gasoline, or other active solvents. Wipe the touch keypad gently; scratches can reduce sensitivity.
Installed batteries provide up to 4.5 years of autonomous operation. If the battery is low, the system sends notifications, and the X (Malfunction) indicator lights up and goes out after each successful code entry.
KeyPad Plus can work up to 2 months after the low battery signal. Lithium batteries are recommended due to their large capacity and temperature resistance.
