Product Overview
This document provides instructions for Orbit illuminated geographical globes, available in sizes Ø20, Ø25, Ø30, and Ø40 cm. These globes are designed for educational use and are suitable for indoor environments only.
The package typically includes: an illuminated globe (with bulb), a meridian, and a base. Some models may also include a magnifier.
Safety Instructions
Important:
- The illuminated globe is not a toy. Children must use it only under adult supervision.
- As an electrical appliance, ensure the globe is placed on a stable surface to prevent slipping or falling.
- If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or a qualified technician.
- If the globe does not light up or lights up intermittently, check that the bulb is securely screwed in, following the bulb replacement instructions.
- Never pull the power cord to disconnect the plug from the socket.
- Do not hang anything on the globe, especially when it is illuminated.
- Keep these instructions for future reference.
Cleaning and Care
Before cleaning, unplug the globe and allow it to cool down.
Clean surfaces with a soft, damp cloth. Use only water; avoid alcohol or other cleaning solvents, as they can permanently damage the surface. Do not expose the globe to direct sunlight.
Assembly Instructions
Refer to the diagrams for assembly:
Step 1 (Diagrams A, B): Screw the lower part of the meridian into the base by turning the base.
For globes with a plastic meridian and wooden base (Diagram C): Insert the screw from below through the wooden base and the conical spacer, then screw it into the meridian's thread.
Bulb Replacement
Caution: The illuminated globe is supplied with a replaceable light source. Use only bulbs with the following specifications: E14 base, maximum 18W, 220-240V ~ 50/60 Hz.
- Disconnect the globe from the power supply and wait a few minutes for the bulb to cool.
- For globes with a metal meridian: Remove the plastic pin (Diagrams M1-M3, possibly using a small screwdriver). Remove the globe sphere (Diagrams M4-M5). Be careful not to scratch the meridian on the sphere.
- For globes with a plastic meridian: Carefully lift the meridian arc upwards until the axle emerges from the sphere (Diagram 1). With the meridian arc held up, tilt the globe sphere forward and lift it off the base plate (Diagram 2, arrows 2-3). Be careful not to scratch the sphere with the meridian.
- Replace the bulb (Diagram M6 or Diagram 3).
- Reassemble the globe sphere by following the steps in reverse order.
This product contains a light source of energy efficiency class F.
Fuse Replacement (UK Plug Only)
Globes with a UK plug are fitted with a 3A fuse. If the fuse fails, it must be replaced with a 3A fuse complying with BS1363.
Wire colours: Blue = Neutral, Brown = Live.
Connection to plug terminals: Blue wire to Neutral terminal, Brown wire to Live terminal. Do not connect either wire to the earth terminal.
