Yamaha NS-225F Speaker System

Introduction

This document serves as the owner's manual for the Yamaha NS-225F speaker system. It provides essential information for the safe and optimal use of your new speakers.

Important Safety Precautions

Before operating the speakers, please read this manual carefully. Key precautions include:

  • Install speakers in a cool, dry, clean environment, away from direct sunlight, excessive heat, or moisture.
  • Avoid placing objects on top of the speakers that could fall and cause injury or damage.
  • Ensure stable placement to prevent tipping, which could lead to injury or property damage.
  • If distortion occurs, immediately reduce the amplifier volume to prevent speaker damage.
  • Clean speakers with a dry cloth; avoid chemical solvents.
  • Do not attempt to modify or repair the speakers; contact qualified Yamaha service personnel.

Note: While the NS-225F is magnetically shielded, placing it too close to a television may affect picture quality. If this occurs, move the speaker away from the TV.

Speaker Placement and Setup

Proper placement is crucial for optimal sound performance. Yamaha recommends:

  • Placing speakers on a solid, level, and vibration-free surface.
  • For stereo use, angle speakers inward to form an equilateral triangle with the listener.
  • For surround sound, position speakers equidistant from the TV, at ear level, to create a solid sound image.

For enhanced stability, especially in earthquake-prone areas, consider using commercially available products like metal fittings or chains.

Connecting Your Speakers

Always turn off your amplifier or receiver before making connections. Ensure speaker cables are prepared correctly, with insulation stripped and wires twisted tightly. Connect speakers to the appropriate left and right terminals of your amplifier, paying close attention to polarity (+/-) to avoid unnatural sound or lack of bass. Banana plugs can be used for a secure connection by removing the terminal cover and tightening the knob before insertion.
