Ensure the cleaner is upright. Move the selector to the appropriate setting:
- 1: Best performance/efficiency for short to medium pile carpets, hard wooden floors, floors with crevices, ceramic tiles.
- 2: Medium pile carpets, delicate floors (vinyl, linoleum, parquet).
- 3 or 4: For longer pile carpets; may increase motion resistance. Use to reduce pushing force.

IMPORTANT: For loop pile carpets over 30mm, consult the carpet manufacturer's instructions. For delicate hard floors (vinyl, linoleum), use setting 2 to prevent damage.
Cleaner Controls
- Cleaner Release Pedal: Press the left pedal with your foot to recline the cleaner.
- Power Switch: Press the right pedal with your foot to turn the cleaner on or off.
Cleaning Tools
All accessories can attach to the end of the hose. Combine them as needed.

Using Attachments

- Remove the long crevice tool from the extension tube.
- Attach the extension tube to the hose.
- Attach the long crevice tool to the extension tube or directly to the hose.

Wiper Blade Assembly
For optimal performance, assemble the front wiper blade to the soleplate of the nozzle.
- Grip the inserted side of the wiper blade and slide it along the slot until fully located.
To reduce push force, the wiper blade can be removed: Lift one end and slide it out of the slot.
IMPORTANT: Switch off and unplug the cleaner before maintenance.
Cleaning the Stairs
Use either the short or long stretch hose. If using the long hose, replace the short hose in the socket.
It is dangerous to position the cleaner above you on stairs. Always work with the cleaner below you, positioned against the bottom step.
Storing the Cleaner
Turn the cleaner off and unplug it. Wind the power cord around the cord storage hooks.
Emptying the Bin
- To remove the bin, press the bin release button.
- Hold the bin over a waste bin and press the easy open button at the rear. The bin door opens for dust-free emptying.
- Once emptied, gently tap or shake the bin to release excess dust. Do not overfill above the max level line.
Filter Maintenance
Cleaning the Pre-Motor Filters
- Rotate the upper part of the dust bin to open.
- Remove the filter assembly by rotating the filter. Wash filters after every 5 bin empties.
- Remove the mesh frame from the HEPA filter, then gently tap both filters to release excess dust.
- Wash both filters and the protective mesh under warm water until clean. Remove excess water by shaking and leave to dry for 24 hours. Reassemble only when completely dry.
IMPORTANT: Ensure the mesh frame is correctly reassembled to the HEPA filter before use.
Cleaning the Exhaust Filter
Wash the exhaust filter monthly. Press the latch to remove the exhaust grille. Remove and wash the filter with warm water. Shake off excess water and leave to dry for 24 hours. Refit only when completely dry.
Changing the Belt or Brushes
If the cleaner is not picking up efficiently, the belt or brushes may need replacing. Before proceeding, ensure the bin is empty, filters are clean, and there are no blockages.
IMPORTANT: Switch off and unplug the cleaner before any maintenance.
- Turn the cleaner over and remove 6 screws attaching the brush guard to the base.
- Remove the brush guard.
- Remove the brush assembly and check the belt for wear.
- Hold the brush assembly and stretch the belt to slot it back into the cleaner housing. Loop the new belt around the motor and brush channel.
- Rotate the brush to ensure free belt movement.
- Refit the brush guard with 6 screws.
Clearing a Blockage
IMPORTANT: Switch off and unplug the cleaner before any maintenance.
Check cleaning tools and hose for blockages.
- The hose can be removed at both ends.
- Turn the cleaner over and rotate brushes to identify obstructions like hair.
- Check the hose socket for blockages. Use a flexible rod if necessary.
- To clear a blockage in the Pet Hair & Allergen Remover*, twist the collar at the rear and lift the cover.
Troubleshooting Checklist
If your cleaner is not working properly, run through this checklist:
- Is there a working electricity supply? (Check with another appliance.)
- Is the bin full or choked with dust? (See P6 for emptying.)
- Is the hose blocked? (See P7 for clearing blockages.)
- Is there a blockage in the cleaner base? (See P7 for clearing blockages.)
- Are the filters blocked? (See P6 for cleaning filters.)
- Is the nozzle height set correctly? (See P4 for carpet height selector.)
- Are the brushes rotating correctly? (See P7 for checking brushes.)
- Has the cleaner overheated? (If so, it will take about 30 minutes to reset.)
If you have doubts, contact the Hoover Service Office. A service charge may apply if the cleaner is found to be in working order or has been used incorrectly.
WARNING!
A thermal cut-out switches off the cleaner to prevent overheating if it is used when full, blocked, or has dirty filters. Switch off, unplug, and correct the fault. It will take about 45 minutes for the cut-out to automatically reset.
IMPORTANT:
Do not run the cleaner over the supply cord, as this could damage its insulation.
