Riding Your Gambit Scooter
Operating Your Device
Ensure the device is fully charged before first use. Before turning on the Gambit scooter, ride it like a normal kick scooter to get comfortable with the device without the motor. Once comfortable, power it on. For the motor to activate, start riding the scooter and then push the throttle down with a thumb. To slow down, push the electric brake down, which stops the motor and slows the scooter. Also, press the mechanical brake with a foot to manually slow down the scooter. To turn, use the handlebar in the desired direction. The Gambit scooter can be operated manually if the motor is not desired. As users become comfortable, maneuvering will become easier. At higher speeds, it is necessary to shift weight to overcome centrifugal force. Prepare to brace if encountering bumps or uneven surfaces, then dismount and carry the Gambit to a safe operating surface.
Weight and Speed Limitations
Speed and weight limits are set for safety. Do not exceed the limits listed in the “Specifications” section of this manual.
Operating Range
The following factors affect the operating range of the device:
- Terrain: Riding distance is highest on smooth, flat surfaces. Riding uphill and/or on rough terrain significantly reduces distance.
- Weight: A lighter user will have further range than a heavier user.
- Ambient Temperature: Ride and store the device under recommended temperatures, which increases driving distance, battery life, and overall performance.
- Speed and Riding Style: Maintaining a moderate and consistent speed produces maximum distance. Traveling at high speeds for extended periods, frequent starts and stops, idling, and frequent acceleration or deceleration will decrease overall distance.
*Do not attempt to stop suddenly, as this may lead to injury or damage to the brake discs.
Safety Alerts
While riding the Gambit Scooter, if a system error or illegal operation occurs, the device will prompt the user in various ways. Common occurrences for Safety Alerts include:
- Prohibited riding surfaces (uneven, too steep, unsafe, etc.)
- Battery voltage too low.
- Device is still charging.
- Overheating, or motor temperature too high.
- When the battery is about to run out of power, the battery icon will flash.
- If any or both tires are blocked, the device will stop after 10 seconds.
- When the battery level has depleted below protection mode, the device motor will power off after 15 seconds.
While sustaining a high discharge current during use (e.g., riding up a steep slope for a long period), the device motor will power off after 15 seconds.
