FlyfishRC M10 Mini GPS Module
Description
The FlyfishRC-M10 Mini is a small, fast, and easy-to-use GPS module. It utilizes an 11.7x11.7mm RHCP ceramic patch antenna for excellent reception and a stable connection. The UBLOX generation 10 chip enables the skipping of minor altitude changes for increased stability.
Specifications
- GPS patch antenna size: 11.7 x 11.7 mm
- Total dimensions: 12.3 x 16.2 x 4.9 mm
- Weight: 2.4g
- Input Voltage: 3.3V-5V
- GPS pin definition: RX/TX VCC/GND
The module features a front view showing the 'RTVG' label and a back view with similar labeling.
Wiring
Connect the Flight Controller (FC) to the GPS Module. The FC's TX pin connects to the GPS Module's RX pin, the FC's RX pin connects to the GPS Module's TX pin, the FC's VCC connects to the GPS Module's VCC, and the FC's GND connects to the GPS Module's GND.
Setup GPS in Betaflight
Step 1: Configure Ports
In Betaflight Configurator, navigate to the 'Ports' tab. Select 'GPS' as the Sensor Input for UART4 and set the baud rate to 115200bps. Click Save.
Visual guide shows selecting UART4, setting Sensor Input to GPS, baud rate to 115200, and clicking Save.
Step 2: Enable GPS in Configuration
Go to the 'Configuration' tab. Enable GPS, select the UBLOX protocol, and enable 'Auto baud rate' and 'Auto Config'. Click Save. (This feature is available in Betaflight firmware version 4.3 or above).
Screenshot shows the configuration tab with GPS enabled, UBLOX protocol selected, Auto Baud Rate, and Auto Config checked.
Step 3: Reconnect and Verify
Reconnect the flight controller. An additional power supply might be needed for the GPS module. Connect your aircraft's battery (ensure props are removed before plugging in LiPo). Monitor the Betaflight status bar; the GPS icon will illuminate, indicating the module is communicating with the flight controller.
Status icons shown are Gyro, Accel, Mag, Baro, GPS, Sonar.
Settings GPS RESCUE
Step 1: Add GPS RESCUE Mode
In the 'Modes' tab, add the 'GPS RESCUE' mode and assign it to your desired AUX channel.
Screenshot shows the Modes tab with GPS RESCUE assigned to AUX4.
Step 2: Configure Failsafe Settings
Enable 'Expert mode' in Betaflight. Navigate to the 'Failsafe' tab and configure the relevant parameters for GPS rescue. To access the Failsafe tab, Expert mode must be enabled. This sets up 'Changed Phase II' failsafe protection for GPS rescue.
Screenshot shows the Failsafe tab with Expert mode enabled. Parameters like Initial altitude, Descent distance, Minimum distance to home, Ground speed, Throttle minimum, Throttle maximum, Throttle hover, Ascend rate, Descend rate, and Minimum satellites are visible. Options like 'Allow arming without fix' and 'Fixed altitude' are also shown.
Step 3: Set GPS RESCUE Mode Value
In the preset channel settings, assign a value to the GPS RESCUE mode that will trigger a rescue sequence.
Screenshot shows 'Channel Fallback Settings' with AUX4 set to 'GPS RESCUE' and a value of 2000.
