Introduction
Choosing an electric bike contributes to safeguarding the environment by saving planetary resources and reducing carbon pollution.
This electric bicycle is manufactured under rigorous European and UAS safety standards, with constant quality checks at the factory. The development of electric bicycles and cars over many years has culminated in this product.
It is important to read this manual carefully before use. If any part is unclear, users are encouraged to seek clarification.
Users must observe traffic regulations and should not lend the bicycle to unfamiliar individuals. The bicycle is legally permitted for use on public roads by individuals aged 14 years or older.
Daymak strongly advises wearing a cycle helmet and attending a cycle proficiency course before riding on open roads. The electric bicycle is a serious mode of transport, not a toy.
1. Before you set off
- Check handlebars are properly tightened.
- Check brake isolator is functioning properly.
- Check tyre pressures are correct.
- Ensure the battery is fully charged.
- Load the battery into the bicycle and turn on with the power key.
Users should read this manual carefully and fully understand all functions before operating the electric bicycle. For safety, turn off the power key when stopped or walking the bike.
2. Battery care
Before any journey, it is advisable to have a fully charged battery.
Using the twist throttle or riding up steep hills can consume up to three times more power.
To preserve battery life, it is recommended to set off and climb hills using 1:1 pedal assist rather than the twist throttle.
Do not expose the bicycle or battery package to fire, extreme heat sources, or alkaline substances.
When leaving the bicycle during hot weather, store it in a shaded, well-ventilated area.
For best results, recharge the battery at room temperature.
To maximize battery life, keep it fully charged when not in use and recharge it approximately every 4 weeks.
Before unloading the battery, raise the saddle and use the battery's handle for removal.
Important notice: Worn-out batteries should be disposed of properly or returned for a credit towards a replacement.
3. Recharging your battery
Connect the output connector plug to the battery, then connect to the mains. A red indicator lamp on the charger signifies charging; it turns green when the battery is fully charged. Disconnect from the mains after charging. Always disconnect the charger from the mains before disconnecting from the battery. The initial three charges may take up to 6 hours.
Charge the battery in a ventilated area.
Do not leave the charger connected to the mains when not in use.
4. Water and your electric bicycle
The electric bicycle is rain and splash proof and can be used in various weather conditions.
However, electrical components such as the motor, battery, and controller must not be submerged in water.
5. Maintenance and adjustments
Do not attempt to open the casing of the battery, motor, or regulator, as this will void all warranties. For any problems, contact the service department.
Wheel spokes should be adjusted after 6 months. The torque for handlebar and saddle tubes, handlebar vertical tube, bicycle saddle, saddle tube, and front wheels should be 18NM. The minimum torque for the pedal bearing axle and rear wheel nuts is 30NM.
If the chain becomes loose or frequently comes off the front cog, adjust chain tension by slightly loosening the rear axle nuts and adjusting the tension bolts. Ensure the chain runs freely and re-tighten the axle nuts.
Brake levers should lock the wheels when compressed halfway between their open position and touching the handlebars. Adjustment methods:
- Front brake: Loosen the nuts on the cable clamp, then tension or release the steel cable until the gap between the wheel and brake rubber is 1.5 to 2.0 mm.
- Rear brake: Loosen the nuts on the cable clamp, then tension or release the steel cable until the brake lever's motion feels fluid and does not lock the back wheel prematurely.
Warning: Braking distances increase on wet or icy roads.
Regularly lubricate gears and the chain with light oil, and the brake bushes (not the rubber brake shoes) with a little grease.
