READ and SAVE These Instructions

⚠️ WARNING

  • To reduce the risk of fire, electrical shock, or personal injury, mount the fan directly from the building structure and/or an outlet box marked acceptable for fan support of 70 lbs (31.8 kg), using the provided mounting screws.
  • To avoid possible electrical shock, disconnect power at the circuit breaker before installing or servicing. If breakers cannot be locked off, use a prominent warning device.
  • This fan must be installed with an isolating wall control/switch to reduce electric shock risk.
  • To reduce the risk of personal injury, do not bend blade brackets during installation, balancing, or cleaning. Do not insert foreign objects between rotating fan blades.

Caution

  • All wiring must comply with national and local electrical codes (ANSI/NFPA 70). Consult a qualified electrician if unfamiliar with wiring.
  • Use only Hunter replacement parts.

This equipment complies with FCC Rules Part 15 for Class B digital devices, designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in residential installations. It may generate radio frequency energy and could cause interference if not installed per instructions. If interference occurs, try reorienting the antenna, increasing separation, connecting to a different circuit, or consulting a technician. Modifications not approved by the responsible party may void user authority. Operation is subject to two conditions: no harmful interference, and acceptance of received interference. This product conforms to UL Standard 507.

Here are the tools you'll need:

  • Ladder
  • Screwdriver
  • Pliers
  • Wire Strippers

Optional tools if mounting to a support structure:

  • Drill
  • 9/64" Drill Bit

What's in the Box

We recommend laying out all components and hardware. Screws are drawn to scale for easy identification.

Hunter Pro Tip: Do not mix hardware bags. Note the symbol on each bag for correct hardware.

IMPORTANT: Remove shipping blocks from the motor; discard screws. Some fans may have a shipping ring; remove it and discard screws.

Note: Fan style may vary.

Choosing the Right Installation Location

Check Room Dimensions:

  • Maintain at least 30 inches clearance from blade tip to the nearest wall or obstruction.
  • Ensure at least 7 feet clearance from the bottom edge of the blades to the floor.

Check the Outlet Box:

The fan must be secured to a building structure or a fan-rated outlet box.

Checking the Ceiling Angle:

Standard Mounting: Suitable for flat ceilings. Use the standard downrod or a shorter one for low-profile installation.

Angled Mounting: For angled or vaulted ceilings:

  • A longer downrod may be required (sold separately at HunterFan.com).
  • If the ceiling angle exceeds 30 degrees, an Angled Mounting Kit is also required (sold separately at HunterFan.com).

A little more information on Angled Mounting: For optimal performance on high or angled ceilings, a longer downrod is recommended. If your ceiling angle is greater than 30 degrees, use an Angled Mounting Kit. Both are available at HunterFan.com.

Hunter Pro Tip: To determine if an Angled Mounting Kit is needed: Fold the guide on the dotted line, place it against the wall, and slide towards the ceiling. If the guide touches the wall but not the ceiling, an angled mounting kit is required.

Installing the Ceiling Bracket

Remove any existing bracket. Use only the provided Hunter ceiling bracket.

Do this first!

Hunter Pro Tip: Machine screws are those provided with your outlet box.

Option 1: Machine Screws

Use machine screws and washers (provided with outlet box) when securing to an existing fan-rated outlet box. Ensure it is securely installed and rated for fan support up to 70 lbs (31.8 kg).

Option 2: Wood Screws

Use wood screws and washers (included) when securing to a support structure with an approved electrical outlet box. Drill 9/64" pilot holes in the support structure to aid in securing the bracket with hardware from the hardware bag.

ANGLED MOUNTING TIP: For angled ceilings, point the bracket opening toward the peak.

⚠️ WARNING: To avoid possible electrical shock, disconnect power at the circuit breaker before installation.

Installing the Downrod

Follow these steps if using the pre-assembled downrod. For longer or shorter downrods, refer to the guide at the end of this manual.

To remove standard downrod pipe: Follow steps 1-5.

  1. The downrod is shown attached to the hanger ball.
  2. A setscrew is shown being loosened or removed.
  3. The downrod is shown being pulled away from the hanger ball.
  4. The downrod is shown separated from the hanger ball.
  5. The hanger ball is shown.

To reassemble with new downrod: Follow steps 6-10.

  1. The new downrod is shown.
  2. The new downrod is inserted into the hanger ball.
  3. The setscrew is shown being tightened to secure the downrod in the hanger ball.
  4. Wires are shown being pulled through the downrod.
  5. The assembled downrod with hanger ball is shown.

Hunter Pro Tip: The ground wire attached to the downrod is approximately 8 inches. Pass all wires to one side of the horizontal bar in the downrod assembly. Hand-tighten the downrod (at least 4-5 full turns) until it stops. Trim wires coming from the fan to leave approximately 8 inches extending from the top of the downrod.

⚠️ WARNING: FAN FALL HAZARD. To prevent serious injury or death:

  • ALWAYS tighten the setscrew with pliers.
  • DO NOT hand tighten the setscrew.
  • CHECK the setscrew is tight using pliers each time you change fan direction.

Note: Fan style may vary.

Hanging the Fan

Slide the canopy over the downrod and wires.

NOTICE: To prevent fan damage, ALWAYS lift by holding either the fan housing or the downrod.

Place the downrod ball into the slot in the ceiling bracket.

Note: Fan style may vary.

Wiring the Fan

We know wiring can be complex. Follow these steps for safe and quick wiring. Consult a qualified electrician if you are unfamiliar with wiring.

You will need: 4 Wire Nuts (in the bag).

Hunter Pro Tip: To connect wires: Push bare metal ends together, slide on a wire nut, and twist clockwise until tight. Gently pull to ensure security.

  • Connect the white (grounded) wire from the ceiling to the white wire from the fan.
  • Connect the black (ungrounded) wire from the ceiling to the black wire from the fan.
  • Connect the three grounding wires (green, green/yellow stripe, or bare copper) coming from the ceiling, downrod, and hanging bracket together.

⚠️ WARNING: All wiring must comply with national and local electrical codes (ANSI/NFPA 70). Consult a qualified electrician if you are unfamiliar with wiring or in doubt.

⚠️ WARNING: The ceiling fan must be grounded. If the ground wire is not present at the installation site, STOP installation immediately and consult a qualified electrician.

Hunter Pro Tip: For extra wiring: Turn wires upward and push them back through the hanger bracket into the outlet box. Spread wires apart, with grounded wires on one side and ungrounded wires on the other. Ensure wires remain attached to wire nuts.

Note: Fan style may vary.

Installing the Canopy

Fit the canopy in place as shown. Lift the canopy into place so screw holes align.

Insert the two canopy screws (found in the hardware bag).

NOTICE: If screw holes do not align, rotate the canopy 180 degrees. The hanger ball shape must match the canopy opening for correct installation.

Note: Fan style may vary.

Installing the Blades

Attach each blade to a blade iron using the blade washer and blade assembly screws (found in the hardware bag). Repeat for all three blades.

Assembling the Light Kit

Partially install two light kit screws (found in the hardware bag) halfway into the motor housing. Feed wire plugs through the center hole of the upper switch housing and gasket. Wrap keyhole slots around the screws and twist counterclockwise.

Insert the third screw (found in the hardware bag) and tighten all three screws.

Connect the single-pin connectors from the LED assembly to the fan connectors. Connect the white wires together. Connect the blue and black wires together. Align keyhole slots in the light kit housing with the two screws. Ensure all wires are snug inside the center of the light kit, not pinched. Install two of the light kit screws.

⚠️ WARNING: FAN FALL HAZARD. Make sure all screws are tight to secure the light fixture.

Note: Fan style may vary.

Installing the Glass

Lift the cover and align the notches in the cover with the two short light kit screws. Attach the cover by engaging light kit screws and turning clockwise one-third of a full turn until it stops.

NOTE: Check to ensure proper engagement.

⚠️ WARNING: GLASS FALL HAZARD. To prevent serious injury or death, ensure glass is properly secured.

Preparing the Remote

Turn Power ON.

Once power is on, the remote must be paired within 60 seconds. Pairing is only required once after initial installation.

Battery Installation: Remove the battery door. Install an A23 or MN21 alkaline battery, observing proper polarity. Replace the battery door.

Pairing: To pair the remote, hold down the Set button for 5 seconds. Pairing is complete when the LED button flashes twice.

Dip Switch Settings: Change dip switch settings if they match a previously installed remote transmitter.

Light Bulb Mode (if light kit installed): Move the toggle switch. Move towards "D" for CFL bulbs, towards "ON" for standard bulbs. Replace battery door.

Remote Functions:

  • LED: Off (Low)
  • Fan Speed Dial: Press numbers 1-6 for fan speed. To calibrate, run fan on "6" for 90 seconds after each AC power reset. The LED light flashes to indicate a signal has been sent.
  • Reverse: Press the Reverse button (?) while the fan is running to reverse airflow direction.
  • Light: Press the Light button (?) to turn lights off/on. To dim, press and hold the Light button for more than one second. Light will cycle from brightest to dimmest. Release when desired brightness is achieved.

Note: To change the battery, remove the battery door, replace the battery, and observe polarity.

Installing the Remote Control Cradle

To install the transmitter cradle, hand-tighten the provided screws to mount the cradle to the wall.
