Operation
Installing the Battery
The AAA battery compartment is located on the front (objective) side of the sight. Remove the battery cap by rotating it counter-clockwise (CCW). Insert the AAA battery with the positive (+) terminal facing outward. Reinstall the battery cap by rotating it clockwise (CW) until finger tight. Ensure the cap is properly tightened to prevent intermittent illumination or moisture ingress.
Turning Sight On and Off / Illumination Control
- Press and hold either the (+) or (-) button for longer than 1 second to turn the sight on or off.
- Once the reticle is illuminated, press and release the (+) button to increase brightness or the (-) button to decrease brightness.
- For the ROMEO5XDR model, press and hold both (+) and (-) buttons simultaneously to toggle between the dot and circle dot reticles.
- The sight features MOTAC and will automatically turn off after approximately 120 seconds of inactivity. It will power back on automatically when motion is detected.
- The sight has 10 illumination settings: 8 for daylight and 2 for night vision.
Mounting the Sight
The integral riser mount includes a modular base and spacer. The sight is shipped with the spacer removed, set to a 1.41" height for absolute co-witness. This height aligns the iron sights with the optical axis of the sight for direct co-witnessing.
- To install, loosen the Torx cross-bolt using the T10 Torx tool (rotate CCW).
- Mount the sight onto your firearm's rail and retighten the bolt CW until hand tight plus a 1/4 turn (approximately 15-20 in-lbs).
- The ROMEO5 is designed for MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny or Weaver style rails. Its infinite eye relief allows mounting anywhere on the rail according to user preference.
Adjusting the Sight Height
For a 1/3 lower co-witness sight height (1.63" from rail top to optical axis), install the included spacer plate.
- Turn the sight upside down and remove the 4 screws from the base using the T10 Torx tool (rotate CCW). You may need a longer tool to break the threadlocker.
- Remove all 4 screws. Insert the spacer plate between the base and the housing.
- Reinstall the 4 Torx screws. It is recommended to use Loctite Blue 242 to secure the screws. Tighten the screws hand tight plus 1/4 turn (approximately 15-20 in-lbs).
Sight Adjustments
- Windage and elevation adjustments are located on the rear top and rear right side of the sight.
- Elevation Adjustment: To raise the point of impact (POI), turn the adjustment CCW with a flathead screwdriver. Each click is 0.5 MOA. To lower the POI, turn CW.
- Windage Adjustment: To shift the POI to the right, turn the adjustment CCW with a flathead screwdriver. Each click is 0.5 MOA. To shift the POI to the left, turn CW.
Maintenance
- Keep lenses clean using a soft cloth or lens pen to maintain image quality and prevent scratches.
- Always use the bikini lens covers to protect outer lens surfaces from scratches during transport.
Troubleshooting
Point of Impact (POI) Changes Between Groups:
- Ensure the mount is tightly affixed to the firearm's rail.
- Check and clean your firearm.
- Verify ammunition consistency.
Intermittent LED Dot Illumination During Live Fire:
- Re-tighten the battery cap.
- Replace the battery or clean the battery compartment and battery contacts.
