Safety Regulations
1.1 Safety
Installation, repair, and maintenance must only be carried out by trained, qualified, and skilled personnel. Reliable operation and avoidance of hazards are guaranteed only if installation and settings are performed according to these instructions. Be aware of potential dangers with electrically operated windows, such as crushing hazards or protruding actuator spindles. Measures must be taken to exclude injury risks before starting up actuators. For safety, installing opening restrictors on bottom-hung windows is recommended. Connecting a wind/rain sensor is recommended for automatic closing during rain or high wind loads. The MotorController must be located in a safe place, protected from fire and smoke, and be surface mounted. It is supplied by 230V AC. The manufacturer is not liable for damage resulting from inappropriate use.
1.2 230V AC
230V AC can cause death, severe bodily injury, or significant property damage. Disconnect the MotorController from the power supply before opening, mounting, or altering it. Power supply must be via an external two-pole or multi-pole circuit breaker, connected to Phase, Neutral, and Earth conductors. Applicable national regulations must be complied with.
1.3 Application
The MotorController is designed solely for the automatic opening and closing of windows, flaps, and doors. Always ensure compliance with applicable national regulations. Cable cross-section depends on wire length and power consumption; refer to the "Cable dimensioning" chapter.
1.4 Cabling and Electrical Connection
WindowMaster recommends powering the MotorController from its own dedicated circuit. Adhere to national regulations for cable routing and connection. Establish cable types with local approval bodies if necessary. Do not conceal flexible cables. Junction boxes must be accessible for maintenance. Disconnect all mains voltage poles before maintenance or system changes. Secure the system against unintentional switching on. Route all low voltage (24VDC) cables separately from power current cables. Design cable types, lengths, and cross-sections according to technical information. Cable specifications are a guide; the electrical contractor on site holds overall responsibility. Installation must comply with national electrical regulations.
Introduction to WCC 103
The WCC 103 is a MotorController that manages (opens/closes) one or more ±24V standard window actuators based on signals from connected components like comfort keypads, room sensors, and weather sensors. Connecting a comfort keypad is recommended so users can override signals and manually open or close windows for ventilation control.
2.1 The MotorController's Construction
The MotorController contains a 75W primary power supply (SMPS) and a printed circuit board with input, output, and auxiliary supply (AUX). It features one motor line for connecting ±24V standard actuators. The number of actuators depends on their type. The total power consumption for all connected motors, including the load on X7 (AUX max. 0.5A), must not exceed 3A.
2.2 MotorController Variants
The WCC 103 is available in different variants, indicated by the article number composition (e.g., XX 0x for version). Standard variants include a Schuko plug (01), while UK variants include a UK network adapter (04). The MotorController size is typically 3A.
2.3 Max Number of Actuators per MotorController
The table below specifies the maximum number of ±24V standard actuators that can be connected per MotorController line. Total power consumption must not exceed 3A, including the AUX load.

Mounting
The MotorController can be mounted horizontally or vertically on a wall using the Ø4.5 mm mounting holes on the back plate. It should be installed in a secure location protected from fire and smoke.

Installation
6.1 Cable Routing
Follow safety regulations and refer to the "Cable dimensioning" chapter for low power cable configuration. Cable cross-sections must not be reduced. Cables enter the MotorController cabinet from the bottom. Comply with national regulations for cable routing. The unit is supplied with a 1.2m Schuko plug cable.
6.2 Connecting Cables in the MotorController
Connect cables according to the "Connection plan for WCC 103" and other relevant sections. Ensure correct connections to prevent functional failures. Installation must adhere to applicable regulations, standards, and guidelines.
6.3 Connecting Protective Earth and 230V AC
The WCC 103 comes factory-fitted with a 230V Schuko plug and earth wire.
6.4 Installation of Comfort Keypad
The comfort keypad should be mounted in a visible and easily accessible location.
6.5 Assembly Instructions
Assembly, installation, repair, and maintenance of ventilation systems must be performed by qualified personnel. Adhere to safety rules, building ordinances, VDE regulations, and accident prevention regulations. Caution: Live parts are exposed when internal covers are removed. Guidelines for mounting/installation include ensuring accessibility for service, following local energy provider instructions, selecting appropriate cables, connecting according to manufacturer drawings, routing cables according to regulations, and checking all system functions.
Cable Dimensioning
Cables must be routed in compliance with applicable regulations.
7.1 Max. Cable Length
The maximum permitted cable lengths from the MotorController to the actuators, considering cable cross-section, are shown in the table. The formula for calculating max. actuator cable length is provided: Max. cable length = (permitted voltage drop 2V x copper's conductivity 56 x cable cross-section in mm²) / (Max. total actuator current in amperes x 2). For ±24V standard actuators, the cable cross-section must be at least 0.75 mm². The PE wire (green/yellow) must not be used for communication or monitoring.
Example calculation: Max. actuator cable length with 0.75mm² cable and 2A current: (2 x 56 x 0.75) / (2 x 2) = 21m.
The table below details maximum cable lengths for ±24V standard actuators based on cable cross-section and total actuator current. The actuator cable must have at least 2 wires.

Connection Description
The WCC 103 can connect to ±24V standard actuators, comfort keypads, thermostats, and wind/rain sensors.
X1: Motor Line
The WCC 103 has one motor line for ±24V standard actuators only. The number of actuators depends on their type. Total current consumption must not exceed 3A (including AUX load). Locking actuators (WMB 8xx) can be connected but do not run simultaneously. All actuators on a motor line must be of the same type. Cable diameter: flexible up to 6mm², solid cable up to 10mm². Refer to "Cable dimensioning" for cable length.
X2: Comfort Keypad Input
Data: 2.1 Open, 2.2 Close, 2.3 GND/0V. Input is "Active" if resistance is < 5kΩ, "Inactive" if > 8kΩ. Input has pull-up current of approx. 1mA. Example: Comfort keypad connected to X2. Operation: Long press (>500ms) opens/closes actuator to end stop; short press stops the actuator.
X3: Automatic Control Input
Data: 3.1 Open, 3.2 Close, 3.3 GND/0V. Must be controlled by a potential/volt-free contact. Has lower priority than X2. Blocked for 30 minutes after X2 receives a command (production code 11BM03KW).
X7: AUX
Power supply for weather stations, etc. See "X10" for wind/rain sensor connection. Data: 7.1 24V, 7.2 0V. Maximum 500mA. Mains must be switched off before connecting external equipment to X7. Connected consumption must be included in the controller's total load (max 3A).
X10: Wind/Rain Sensor Input
Connect WLA 330 or WLA 331 sensors to both X10 and X7. Data: 10.1 Open, 10.2 Close (Rain), 10.3 GND/0V. Input logic is similar to X2. Diagrams show sensor connection and simplified input circuits for X2 and X10.
DS: DIP Switch
Configures self-holding for comfort keypad on X2. ON = holding activated, OFF = holding deactivated (factory setting is OFF). For WLA 330, DIP switches 1-3 set wind speed tolerances.
K1: Reset
Resets the unit.
K2: FW Update
Used for firmware updates.
LED Indicators
LED 1 (Yellow): Indicates an error on the MotorController. If off, no error. LED 2 (Green): Shows MotorController status. If constantly lit, no error. LED 4 (Green): Shows motor line status. If blinking (2.4s on, 0.8s off), no motor line error. Refer to "Status and troubleshooting via LED" for detailed information.
Actuator Connection Variants
Diagrams illustrate how different actuator types (Quad, Triple, Synchro, Single) connect to the motor line.
Status and Troubleshooting via LED
Malfunctions cause LEDs to light or blink. The WCC 103 has 3 diodes (2 green, 1 yellow) indicating errors. Indications follow a 3.2-second sequence. Multiple errors are shown by priority. The yellow LED (LED 1) is a general error indicator; detailed information is provided by the green LEDs.
- LED 1 (Yellow): Indicates a general error on the MotorController.
- LED 2 (Green): Blinking indicates a specific error on the MotorController. Status indications include OK, AUX overload, Surveillance error, System overload.
- LED 4 (Green): Indicates motor line status or error. Status indications include OK and running, OK and stopped, Fuse error, Overload.

Commissioning and Test Run
Refer to the "Status and troubleshooting via LED" chapter for error messages.
11.1 MotorController Fully Installed, Without Operating Power
- Check all mechanical and electrical components for damage.
- Verify all screw and plug connections are tight and secure.
- Ensure all external components are installed and check polarity for ±24V actuators.
11.2 With Network Power
Adhere to relevant regulations. Connect mains cables and reapply mains voltage.
11.3 Comfort Keypad
Observe actuators during opening/closing; ensure no obstructions and no strain on connection wires. Test each comfort keypad individually.
11.4 Wind/Rain Sensor
- Open actuators using comfort keypads.
- Dampen the rain sensor; actuators should close completely.
- While actuators are running, press the "Open" button on the comfort keypad; actuators must not open or stop.
If commissioning is successful, fit the MotorController lid. If errors occur, refer to "Connection description" and "Connection plan for WCC 103" for wiring checks.
Maintenance
Inspection and maintenance should only be performed by the supplier or authorized personnel. Clean the MotorController and check screw/terminal tightness. Perform a system test run. Defective units must be repaired at the factory using original spare parts. The expected minimum lifetime is 10 years.
