Introduction

Congratulations! You are about to install and use a high-end equipment that will play a central role in the energy management of your battery-based system. The next3 is the first device of our new generation of smart battery inverter/charger with advanced functions. This next3 has been designed, manufactured, assembled and tested in our factory in Switzerland. It has a 6-year warranty and is eligible for an extension 6+6, under the studercare+ program (not yet available, check with your studer representative for further information).

General Information

Exclusion of Liability

Studer disclaims all responsibility and liability for damage, costs or losses resulting from an installation that does not comply with the instructions, a faulty operation or inadequate maintenance. The use of studer equipment is in any case under the responsibility of the customer. Read carefully the safety and operation instructions. Installation must be entrusted to qualified personnel. Check the user manual online or contact support for help.

Mounting and Installation

Storage and Content

The product is shipped in packaging with dimensions approximately 800mm x 600mm x 720mm and weighs 72 kg. It can be stored within a temperature range of -20°C to 60°C.

Mounting Place

The next3 and batteries should only be installed by qualified personnel. Ensure the mounting location is suitable:

Fixing and Dimensions

Diagrams show fixing points and required clearances. The device weighs 58 kg. Minimum clearances required are: 250mm (front), 150mm (left), 290mm (right), 550mm (top), 120mm (bottom), 350mm (rear). Device dimensions: Height 716mm, Width 454mm, Depth 352mm.

Wiring

Earthing

Use a minimum 16mm² earth cable, with the same section as the AC cables up to 25mm². The solar generator must be Class II insulated.

Communication and Control

Battery Connection

Use 4 x 70mm² cable (M8 terminals, torque 10Nm). Supports up to 4 x 95mm² cable (M8 terminals, torque 10Nm). A 400A protection device is required on the battery side.

Solar PV Connection (MPPT 1, MPPT 2)

Use 2.5-6mm² cable with Sunclix connector. A protection device with Overvoltage protection (SPD: 4x900Vdc, 1 per input) is required on the PV side.

AC Connection

Use up to 5 x 25mm² cable (torque 1.6Nm). Protection device AC to protect cables (circuit breaker type B). Protection device AC to protect people (RCCB/RCD, check earth scheme). Overvoltage protection SPD.

Regulations

The device must be installed in accordance with local standards and regulations in force.

Communication and Power Up

Nx Interface Requirement

An nx interface is required in the communication bus for full functionality.

Display System Status

The display system provides various status indicators:

State of Charge

Indicated in ranges: 0-25%, 25-50%, 50-75%, 75-100%.

Upper LED (not for lithium)

Indicates battery charging modes: floating, bulk, absorption, equalization.

The nx interface provides access to:

Multi-Units

3-phase and parallel combinations are not yet available. Future support for up to 3 units in parallel with 1 internal transfer and common battery, and multi-unit and multi-battery configurations for Li and Pb batteries is planned.

Except for the periodic check of the connections (tightening, general condition), the next does not require any particular maintenance. To dispose of this product, please use the service for the collection of electrical waste and observe all obligations in force in the place of purchase.
