Safety Instructions
Your Reid eScooter is a sporting entertainment tool, not a vehicle. Riding in public areas carries safety risks. Strictly follow these instructions to protect yourself and others, and to comply with regulations.
Taking your Reid eScooter on public roads or places may expose you to risks of unauthorized driving or improper operation, even if you follow the safe driving guide. Adhere to the safety requirements in this manual, especially where national standards are absent.
Reid is not liable for any liability, personal injury, accident, legal dispute, or other unfavorable events resulting from violating the instructions in this manual.
The faster the eScooter travels, the longer the braking distance. On smooth surfaces, using the left-hand brake can cause wheel slip, loss of balance, or falls. Be vigilant, maintain a proper speed, and keep a safe distance from others.
Ride at low speeds before entering unfamiliar terrain. Do not lend your eScooter to inexperienced riders. If you lend it, be responsible for their safety by teaching them how to ride safely and ensuring they wear appropriate safety gear.
Check your Reid eScooter before each ride. If parts are loose, the battery is low, or there is abnormal sound or malfunction, stop using it immediately and do not force it to operate.
How To Ride
There are risks of falling and injury when riding, so please wear a helmet and protective gear.
- Turn on the power and check the power indicator.
- Place one foot on the deck and kick backward with the other foot.
- Once the electric scooter is moving above 5 km/h, place both feet on the deck and push the throttle to start the electric motor.
- Releasing the throttle will slow you down gradually, engaging the automatic energy recovery system. For hard braking, pull the lever on the left side.
- When turning, lean your body slightly towards the direction of the turn and steer the handle slowly.
- To activate cruise control, maintain a constant speed for approximately 6 seconds. Releasing the throttle will keep the speed unchanged. To cancel cruise control, push the throttle or operate the brakes.
Riding Safely
- Please avoid riding in the rain.
- Do not ride quickly over uneven surfaces. Maintain a speed between 5 km/h and 10 km/h and bend your knees slightly for maximum safety.
- Do not press the throttle whilst walking with the eScooter.
- Avoid obstacles when driving.
- Do not ride through doorways.
- Do not accelerate downhill.
- Do not hang any heavy items on the handlebar.
- Keep both feet on the deck whilst driving.
Warning Reminder
Do not attempt dangerous movements.
- Forbidden to drive on the road or in crowded residential areas.
- Forbidden to rotate the handle strongly while driving at high speed.
- Forbidden to drive through water deeper than 2 cm.
- Forbidden to drive the eScooter with more than one person and/or holding a child.
- Forbidden to step or tread on the back mudguard.
- Forbidden to press the disc brake.
- Forbidden to drive without your hands holding the handlebar.
- Forbidden to go up or down stairs or to jump over barriers when driving.
Maintain Me
Daily Maintenance
Electric Scooter Cleaning and Storage:
For marks on the body, wipe with a damp soft cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a toothbrush and then a damp cloth. For plastic scratches, use sandpaper or other abrasive materials for polishing.
Note:
- Do not use alcohol, gasoline, kerosene, or other corrosive/volatile solvents for cleaning, as they can damage the body and internal structure.
- Do not use a pressure spray and flush.
- Ensure the charging cable is unplugged and the rubber cap is tightened during cleaning to prevent electric shock or accidents due to water ingress.
Store your Reid eScooter in a dry and cool room to prevent premature aging and battery degradation.
If the scooter is fully charged and not in use, recharge it every 3 months to prevent battery over-discharge.
Electric Scooter Battery Maintenance:
- Do not use other brands of batteries, as this may pose security risks.
- Do not touch battery contacts or open the battery compartment. Tampering can cause short circuits, battery damage, or personal injury.
- Only use the original charger for charging to prevent damage or fire.
Inappropriate disposal of used batteries can cause serious environmental pollution. Dispose of waste battery packs according to local regulations.
Do not place the battery in environments above 50°C or below -20°C (e.g., in a car in summer), as this may cause malfunction or fire. The ideal temperature for maximum mileage and performance is between 20°C and 25°C. Riding below 0°C will severely decrease battery life and performance.
Note: Non-professionals are forbidden from removing the battery pack. Doing so may result in serious electrical faults or safety short-circuits.
Disc Brakes Debug:
If the brake feels tight, adjust it by loosening the screw on the rotary knob with an M5 hex wrench. Turn the rotary knob slightly to the right and tighten the screw. If the brake feels loose, turn the rotary knob slightly to the left after loosening the screw, then tighten it.
Alternatively, take your electric scooter to the nearest service centre for adjustment.

Maintaining Your Battery
Batteries generally have no user-serviceable features. Some may have user-serviceable fuses; consult your Reid Dealer.
Lithium-ion batteries are sensitive to heat and voltage extremes. Avoid allowing internal cell temperatures above 42°C, as this can damage the battery chemistry. Do not charge the battery when it is hot.
NOTE: The charging process will warm the battery, which is normal. The battery should not exceed its safe operating temperatures during charging.
Some Helpful Advice:
- Wait at least 30 minutes after riding before charging.
- Do not leave your battery in direct sunlight, small sheds, or in your car.
- If the battery casing feels warm, allow it sufficient time to cool down before recharging or using it.
- Do not leave your battery fully charged or fully flat for extended periods.
- If you do not ride regularly, charge your battery for 1-2 hours every 90 days, maintaining a charge status between 40% and 70%.
- Avoid charging your battery to 100% capacity after each ride.
Maintaining Your Battery
- Unplug or disconnect the battery once charging is complete.
- Do not allow the battery to overheat; ensure it is charged on a hard surface where heat can disperse.
- Regularly monitor the battery and charger for damage and follow manufacturer guidance for replacement or repairs.
- Ensure smoke alarms are fitted where charging takes place, preferably interlinked detectors. If possible, store and charge away from the main living area.
- Disconnect if charging is not completed after 8 hours. Do not use outdoors and ensure the charge socket is dry before connecting.
- Ensure the charger is OFF before connecting to the battery.
- Do not charge in hot areas. Only charge on a hard surface away from flammable objects.
- Never leave batteries charging in an unattended building or overnight while you are sleeping.
TIP: Charging your battery to approximately 80% of its full charge can nearly double its useful lifespan!
How long does it take to charge the battery?
Charging time varies based on battery capacity and charge level. A full charge (from 5% level) typically takes between 4 and 8 hours.
