Panadero MAJA Wood Burning Stove
Model: MAJA
Introduction
You have purchased a PANADERO product. Apart from correct maintenance, our woodstoves require installation strictly in accordance with legislation. Our products conform to the EN 13240:2001 and A2:2004 European norm. It is very important for you, the consumer, to know how to correctly use your woodstove following the recommendations provided. Therefore, before installing our product, you must read this manual carefully and follow the usage and maintenance instructions.
Wood: An Ecological Fuel
Wood is a renewable source of energy that meets the energy and environmental demands of the 21st century. Throughout its life, a tree grows using sunlight, water, mineral salts, and CO2. It absorbs solar energy and provides essential oxygen for animal life. The CO2 released during wood combustion is no greater than that released during its natural decomposition, making it an energy source that respects the natural cycle. Burning wood does not increase atmospheric CO2 levels and does not contribute to the greenhouse effect.
Our wood-burning stoves burn logs cleanly without residue. Wood ash is a high-quality fertilizer rich in mineral salts. By purchasing a wood-burning stove, you help the environment, benefit from economical heating, and can enjoy the ambiance of flames, which no other heating form can offer.
(Diagram Description: The diagram illustrates the ecological cycle of wood. Part 1 shows a tree absorbing CO2 and releasing O2, representing 'Nutrients / Näringsämnen'. Part 2 shows wood burning and ash being returned to the soil, representing 'Ashes - Fertilizer / Aska - Gödselmedel'.)
Installation
Smoke Pipe Placement
- Place the first tube in the smoke outlet circle at the top of the stove and attach the "other" tube onto the end.
- Join it to the rest of the chimney.
- If the tubing reaches the exterior of your home, place the "hat" onto the end.
General Installation Guidelines
- Your wood-burning stove features a vermiculite-insulated combustion chamber. Do not remove the vermiculite boards.
- All local regulations, including National and European standards, must be complied with during installation.
- The smoke outlet installation should be as vertical as possible, avoiding joints, angles, and deviations. If connected to a masonry chimney, the tubes should reach the exterior exit. If using tubing only, at least three meters of vertical tubing are recommended.
- IMPORTANT: Installation and regular cleaning must be performed by a qualified professional. The ventilation opening must never be obstructed.
- IMPORTANT: The woodstove must be installed in a well-ventilated area. Having at least one openable window in the room is advisable.
- Tube connections should be sealed with refractory putty to prevent soot leakage.
- Do not position the stove near combustible walls. Install the stove on a non-combustible floor surface. If the floor is not non-combustible, place a metal plate underneath, extending 15 cm to the sides and 30 cm to the front.
- Remove any nearby materials that could be damaged by heat (furniture, curtains, paper, clothes) while the stove is in use. Minimum safety distances from adjacent combustible materials are detailed on the last page.
- Ensure easy access for cleaning the product, smoke outlet, and chimney. If installing near a flammable wall, maintain a minimum distance for easier cleaning.
- This stove is not suitable for installation in a chimney system shared by other sources.
- The stove must be installed on flooring with adequate support. If your current floor does not comply, adapt it with appropriate measures (e.g., a weight distribution plate).
- Your product has an 80 mm diameter outside air intake. Install an 80 mm diameter pipe to allow external air entry for correct operation.
Fuel
- Use only dry wood with a maximum moisture content of 20%. Wood with higher moisture content (50-60%) heats poorly, produces more tar, excessive vapor, and deposits sediment on the stove, glass, and smoke outlet.
- Light the fire using special fire lighters, paper, or small pieces of wood. Do not use alcohol or similar products.
- Do not burn household waste, plastic, or greasy products, as they can pollute the environment and cause pipe obstruction, leading to fire risks.
Function
- Smoke may appear during the first few uses as heat-resistant paint components burn off. Ensure the room is aired until smoke disappears.
- The woodstove is not designed to function with the door open under any circumstances.
- The stove is intended for intermittent use with intervals for recharging fuel.
- For lighting, use paper, fire lighters, or small wood sticks. For the initial charge, add two logs weighing 2.5 to 3 kg each. Keep air inlets fully open during this process. The ash drawer can also be opened initially if needed. Once the fire is more intense, close the ash drawer (if open) and regulate fire intensity by adjusting air inlets.
- To achieve the stated nominal heat output, a total of 1.7 kg of wood (approx. two 1 kg logs) should be placed inside at 45-minute intervals. Position logs horizontally and separated for correct combustion. Only add new fuel when the previous charge has burned down to a basic fire bed.
- For slow combustion, regulate the fire using air draughts, which must remain permanently unblocked to distribute combustion air.
- After initial lighting, brass parts may turn a coppery color.
- The glass door panel seal may melt with use. While the stove can function without it, seasonal replacement is recommended.
- The lower drawer is for ash removal. Empty it regularly before it fills up to prevent grill damage. Be cautious, as ash can remain hot for up to 24 hours after use.
- Do not open the door abruptly to avoid smoke release. Always open the air draught before opening the door to refuel.
- The glass, brass parts, and stove can reach very high temperatures. Use caution to avoid burns. Use the provided glove when handling metal parts.
- Keep children away from the stove.
- If lighting is difficult (e.g., due to cold weather), use folded or crumpled paper, which is easier to ignite.
- If the stove becomes too hot, close the air draughts to reduce fire intensity.
- For malfunctions, contact the manufacturer.
- For optimal performance, open only the primary air during ignition. After 1-2 minutes, close most of the primary air, leaving a small opening for slow combustion.
Maintenance
- Periodically clean the glass door panel to prevent soot buildup. Use professional cleaning products; never use water. Never clean the stove while it is in use.
- Regularly clean the smoke outlet tubing and check for blockages before relighting after a period of non-use. A professional should inspect the installation at the start of each season.
- In case of a fire in the smoke outlet, close all air draughts if possible and contact the authorities immediately.
- Only use replacement parts recommended by the manufacturer.
- The fiberglass cable used for seals may degrade over time and should be replaced with new fiberglass tape if necessary.
Guarantee
This is a high-quality stove manufactured with care. If you find any defect, contact your distributor first. If they cannot resolve the issue, they will contact the manufacturer. Faulty parts will be replaced free of charge for up to five years from the purchase date. Repair work is free, but transport costs are the customer's responsibility.
Overheating the appliance may cause deformation inside the combustion chamber, which is not covered by the warranty. The following parts are NOT covered by warranty: Glass, Cast iron grate, Vermiculite, Door handle, air-inlet knobs, etc.
A quality control slip is included in the packaging. Please send this to your distributor for any claims.
