Introduction
Congratulations on your purchase, and welcome to BOSS Audio Systems! This product is designed to directly fit the Carling type switch location. It receives audio via Bluetooth streaming and 3.5 mm AUX jack. The product outputs audio by connection to an external 12V amplifier. The product features a remote output wire that allows the connected amplifier to automatically turn on or off whenever this product is turned on or off. The product also has illuminated soft buttons for playback control. The buttons are illuminated blue in Bluetooth mode and red in AUX input mode.

Important Safety Precautions
- Do not increase speaker volume so high that you cannot hear your surroundings.
- Use caution or temporarily discontinue use in potentially hazardous situations.
- Do not make adjustments to the product while driving or in situations where distractions can be hazardous. Responsible and safe driving is your primary responsibility when operating a vehicle.
- Start volume at a low setting and gradually increase it until you can hear comfortably, without sound distortion or ear discomfort.
- In case of smoke, strange noise, odor, or other abnormal operational signs, disconnect the product from the power supply. Discontinue use and contact your dealer or technical support. Continued use may result in permanent system damage.
- Servicing must only be carried out by a qualified technician. Contact technical support for any service questions.
Installation Precautions
WARNING: Always consult a professional installer.
- Before installation, disconnect the negative terminal of the vehicle battery to prevent damage, fire, and/or possible injury.
- If extending the power cable to the vehicle battery, it is recommended to run the extended cable through a fuse box (not included) with at least a 5A fuse.
- The ground cable should be as short as possible. Connect the ground cable to metal parts of your vehicle, or to the negative terminal on the battery if your vehicle does not have a grounded chassis frame.
- If extending the ground cable to the battery, use a high-quality cable with proper gauge rating.
- Replace a faulty fuse with a new one of the same type and rating.
- Observe the safety and operating instructions of connected devices.
- DO NOT use abrasive cleaning materials on the product.
- DO NOT submerge the product in water.
Control Panel
The control panel features several buttons for operation:
- Volume Down: Press to decrease volume; hold down to decrease rapidly.
- Power: Hold down to turn the unit on or off.
- Mode Switch: Hold down to switch between Bluetooth (BT) and AUX mode.
- Previous Track: Press [previous-track] to select the previous track.
- Volume Up: Press to increase volume; hold down to increase rapidly.
- Play/Pause/Mute: Press [play-pause] to start, pause, or resume playback. In BT mode, hold down [play-pause] to disconnect or reconnect Bluetooth. In AUX mode, press briefly [play-pause] to mute or unmute volume.
- Next Track: Press [next-track] to select the next track.
Mounting
The unit is designed to fit the Carling switch location and features rocker switch dimensions.
Option 1: Direct Fit
Simply insert the unit into an available Carling-sized cut-out on your vehicle's dashboard. No drilling or cutting is required.
Option 2: Hole Cutting
Find a suitable location in the dashboard and cut a rectangular hole measuring approximately 0.85 inches wide by 1.45 inches high. Then, directly fit the unit into the hole.
Important! When drilling or cutting holes in your vehicle, ensure that the gas tank, fuel lines, hydraulic lines, and electrical wiring are not damaged.
Wiring
Important notes on wiring:
- Refer to the "Installation Precautions" section.
- Disconnect the negative terminal of the vehicle battery prior to wiring.
- Connect the unit to a 12V DC battery with a negative ground only.
The unit has the following connections:
- AUX IN: For audio input via 3.5mm jack.
- MAIN OUT: For audio output, typically via RCA cables.
- REMOTE OUT: Blue wire for amplifier turn-on signal.
- GROUND-: Black wire for ground connection.
- POWER+: Red wire for power connection.
- ATM fuse (2A): Integrated fuse for protection.
Optional direct battery wiring circuit: This circuit involves connecting the unit directly to the battery via a fuse holder (5A recommended) and an optional on-off switch, with a chassis ground connection.
Connection Details:
- A (MAIN OUT): Use RCA cables (not included) to connect the MAIN OUT sockets to the RCA input on a 12V amplifier (not included) for sound output.
- B (REMOTE OUT): Use an 18-gauge wire (not included) to connect the blue REMOTE OUT wire to the remote terminal on the amplifier. This controls the amplifier's turn-on/turn-off.
- C (GROUND): Use an 18-gauge wire to connect the black GROUND wire to the metal frame (chassis) of your vehicle.
- D (POWER): Use an 18-gauge wire to connect the red POWER wire to the battery's positive terminal. It is recommended to connect the battery through a 5A fuse (not included) and an on-off switch (not included).
Bluetooth Audio Streaming
To stream music from your mobile phone, you must pair the unit with your phone via Bluetooth.
- Ensure the unit is connected to an amplifier for sound output.
- Press and hold the power button to turn on the unit. An audible tone will be heard, and the button backlights will illuminate blue and flash, indicating pairing mode.
- On your mobile phone, enable Bluetooth and select "Boss Audio BPS1RS" to pair. If prompted for a password, enter "0000".
- Upon successful connection, you will hear an audio tone, and the button backlights will turn solid blue. If pairing fails, repeat the steps.
- Start audio playback on your mobile phone. Audio will stream to the unit and output through the connected amplifier.
- The unit automatically connects to the last paired device when powered on.
- Hold down the [play-pause] button to disconnect or reconnect Bluetooth.
NOTE: To connect to a different device, disconnect the currently connected device first, then repeat the pairing steps.
Playback Control through Bluetooth
- To start, pause, or resume play, press [play-pause].
- To select the previous or next track, press [previous-track] or [next-track].
- To adjust volume, press [plus-sign] or [minus-sign].
- If an incoming call occurs during playback, music will automatically pause and resume after the call ends.
AUX Audio Input
You can input audio from a playback device (e.g., mobile phone or MP3 player) through the 3.5 mm AUX IN socket.
- Ensure the unit is connected to an amplifier for sound output.
- Press and hold the power button to turn on the unit.
- Press and hold the [BOSS-logo-button] to switch to AUX mode from Bluetooth mode. The button backlights will turn red.
- Using a 3.5 mm audio cable (not included), connect the AUX IN socket (3.5 mm) to the headphone jack of your device (e.g., mobile phone or MP3 player).
- Start audio playback on the connected device. Audio will output through the connected amplifier.
Control in AUX Mode
- To adjust volume, press [plus-sign] or [minus-sign].
- To mute or unmute volume, press briefly [play-pause].
- The unit's buttons cannot be used to select tracks or control play/pause playback in AUX mode.
Care of the Environment
Do not dispose of the product with normal household waste at the end of its life. Hand it in at an official collection point for recycling. By doing this, you help to preserve the environment.
Troubleshooting
Refer to the checklist below to solve common problems. If problems persist, contact technical support. Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the product.

No power | The fuse is blown. Replace with a new one of the same type and rating. The unit is not powered on. Press and hold the power button on the unit's control panel to turn it on. |
No sound | Incorrect source input. Press and hold the [BOSS-logo-button] to select Bluetooth or AUX source. Volume is minimum. Increase volume using the volume control on the unit or the connected device. Make sure the REMOTE OUT wire of the unit is correctly or securely connected to your amplifier. Make sure the connected amplifier has correct signal input and output connection (refer to the user manual of the amplifier). |
No/poor Bluetooth connection | Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your device. Make sure the device is within Bluetooth range. To connect to another device, disconnect the current Bluetooth connection. Move the device closer to the unit, or remove any obstacle between the device and the unit. |
Poor audio quality | For Bluetooth streaming, move the device closer or remove obstacles or sources of interference affecting Bluetooth reception. For best audio performance, set the device volume to a minimum of 75% before connecting to the unit (Bluetooth and AUX input). Make sure your amplifier has correct settings (refer to the user manual of the amplifier). |
No response | Power glitch or interference. Disconnect power for 10 seconds then reconnect power. |
