Joystick Button/ Power Indicator

How to Use the Joystick Button

You can easily control the functions of the monitor by pressing the joystick button or moving it left/right with your finger.

Basic Functions

Moving and Lifting the Monitor

When moving or lifting the monitor, follow these instructions to prevent the monitor from being scratched or damaged and to ensure safe transportation regardless of its shape or size.

Setting up the Monitor set

Attaching the Stand Base

Step 1: Place the monitor on a soft surface to protect the screen.

Step 2: Attach the stand body to the monitor using the provided screws.

Step 3: Attach the stand base to the stand body.

You can disassemble the stand in the reverse order of the assembly.

Mounting on a table

Step 1: Lift and tilt the monitor set into its upright position on a table. Leave a 100 mm (minimum) space from the wall for proper ventilation.

Using the cable holder

Step 2: Connect the AC-DC Adapter and Power Cord to a wall outlet.

Step 3: Press the joystick button on the bottom of the monitor to turn on the monitor.

Adjusting the Angle

Using the Kensington security system

The Kensington security system connector is located at the back of the Monitor set. For more information on installation and usage, refer to the manual supplied with the Kensington security system or visit http://www.kensington.com.

The Kensington security system is optional. You can obtain it from most electronics stores.

Using the Monitor Set

Connecting to a PC

Your Monitor set supports Plug & Play*. *Plug & Play: A PC recognizes a connected device that users connect to a PC and turn on, without device configuration or user intervention.

D-SUB connection

Transmits analog video from your PC to the Monitor set. Connect the PC and the Monitor set with the supplied D-sub 15 pin signal cable as shown in the following illustrations.

HDMI connection

Transmits the digital video and audio signals from your PC to the Monitor set. Connect the PC and the Monitor set with the HDMI cable as shown in the following illustrations.

If you use HDMI PC, it can cause compatibility problem.

Use a certified cable with the HDMI logo attached. If you do not use a certified HDMI cable, the screen may not display or a connection error may occur.

Recommended HDMI cable types:

DisplayPort connection

Transmits the digital video and audio signals from your PC to the monitor. Connect your PC to the monitor using the DisplayPort cable as illustrated below. Press the menu button and then select the input option.

There may be no video or audio output depending on the DP version of the PC.

If you use generic cables not certified by LG, the screen may not display or there may be image noises.

Connecting to AV Devices

HDMI connection

Transmits the digital video and audio signals from your AV devices to the monitor. Connect your AV device to the monitor with the HDMI cable as illustrated below.

If you use HDMI PC, it can cause compatibility problem.

Use a certified cable with the HDMI logo attached. If you do not use a certified HDMI cable, the screen may not display or a connection error may occur.

Connecting Peripherals

Connecting Headphones

Connect peripherals to the monitor via the headphones port. Connect as illustrated.

Peripheral devices are sold separately.

If you use angled headphones, it may cause a problem with connecting another external device to the monitor. Therefore, it is recommended to use straight headphones.

Depending on the audio settings of the PC and external device, headphones and speaker functions may be limited.

Customizing Settings

Activating the Main Menu

1. Press the joystick button on the bottom of the monitor.

2. Move the joystick up/down (↑/↓) and left/right (←/→) to set the options.

3. Press the joystick button once more to close the main menu.

Main Menu Features

Menu Item Description
Menu Configures the screen settings.
Game Mode You can change Picture Mode to a gaming mode.
Input Sets input mode.
Monitor off Turns off the monitor.
Close Close the main menu.

Quick Settings

Menu > Quick Settings Description
Brightness Adjusts the color contrast and brightness of the screen.
Contrast Adjusts the screen ratio.
Volume Adjusts the volume.
Note: You can adjust Mute/ Unmute by moving the joystick button to ↓ in the Volume menu.
Ratio Adjusts the screen ratio.
SMART ENERGY SAVING
   Wide Displays the video in wide-screen, regardless of the video signal input.
   Original Displays a video according to the input video signal aspect ratio.
   High Enables SMART ENERGY SAVING for high energy efficiency.
   Low Enables SMART ENERGY SAVING for low energy efficiency.
   Off Disables SMART ENERGY SAVING.

* SMART ENERGY SAVING: Conserve energy by using luminance compensation algorithm.

The display may look the same for Wide, Original options at the recommended resolution (1920 x 1080).

The ratio is disabled in the interlaced signal.

Saving Data depends on the Panel. So, those values should be different from each panel and panel vendor. If you select the option of SMART ENERGY SAVING is High or Low, monitor luminance may become lower or higher depending on the source.

Picture Settings

Menu > Picture Description
Picture Mode
   Custom Allows the user to adjust each element. The color mode of the main menu can be adjusted.
   Reader 1 Optimized for newspapers. For brighter screen, adjust brightness in Menu OSD.
   Reader 2 Optimized for cartoons. For brighter screen, adjust brightness in Menu OSD.
   Photo Optimizes the screen to view photos.
   Cinema Optimizes the screen to improve the visual effects of a video.
   Color Weakness For users who cannot distinguish between red and green. Enables easier distinction between the two colors.
   FPS Game 1 Optimized for FPS games.
   FPS Game 2 Features a higher Black Stabilizer value than FPS Game 1, suitable for very dark FPS games.
   RTS Game Optimized for RTS games.
   Custom(Game) Allows users to customize various elements, including game-related options.
Picture Adjust
   SUPER RESOLUTION+
      High Optimized for crystal clear images, effective for high quality video or games.
      Middle Optimized for comfortable viewing, effective for UCC or SD video.
      Low Optimized for smooth and natural images, effective for slow-moving pictures or still images.
      Off Select for everyday viewing. SUPER RESOLUTION+ is turned off.
Sharpness Adjusts the sharpness of the screen.
Black Level Sets the offset level (for HDMI only). Offset: The darkest color the monitor can display.
   High Keeps the current contrast ratio of the screen.
   Low Lowers black levels and raises white levels.
DFC
   On Adjusts brightness automatically.
   Off Disables the DFC feature.
Game Adjust
   Response Time Sets a response time for displayed pictures based on screen speed. Recommended: Middle for normal use, High for fast-moving pictures. Setting to High may cause image sticking.
      High Sets the response time to High.
      Middle Sets the response time to Middle.
      Low Sets the response time to Low.
      Off Does not use the response time improvement feature.

This setting is for color weakness users. If uncomfortable, turn it off.

This function may not distinguish some colors in some images.

Game Adjust

Feature Description
FreeSync Provides seamless and natural images by synchronizing the vertical frequency of the input signal with that of the output signal.
CAUTION
  • Supported Interface: DisplayPort/HDMI.
  • Supported Graphic Card: A graphic card that supports AMD's FreeSync is necessary.
  • Supported Version: Make sure to update the graphic card to the latest driver.
  • For more information and requirements, refer to AMD website at http://www.amd.com/
FreeSync
  • FreeSync and 1ms Motion Blur Reduction cannot be enabled simultaneously.
   On FreeSync function on.
   Off FreeSync function off.
Black Stabilizer Controls black contrast for better visibility in dark scenes. Increasing the value brightens low gray levels; decreasing it darkens them and increases dynamic contrast.
1ms Motion Blur Reduction Minimizes motion blur in fast-moving videos. For best results, select 1920X1080@75Hz before enabling. This function is available for 75Hz vertical frequency (Only HDMI / DisplayPort).
   On Enables 1ms Motion Blur Reduction.
   Off Turns 1ms Motion Blur Reduction Mode off.

To reduce motion blur, brightness is reduced with backlight control.

1ms Motion Blur Reduction and FreeSync feature cannot be used at the same time.

This function is game-optimized. It is recommended to turn off when not using gaming features.

Cross Hair

Provides a mark on the center of the screen for First Person Shooter (FPS) games. Users can select a cross hair that fits their gaming environment among four different options.

When the monitor is off or enters energy saving mode, the Cross Hair feature is automatically turned off.

Color Adjust

Feature Description
Gamma The higher the gamma value, the darker the image. The lower the gamma value, the lighter the image. Select Off if no adjustment is needed.
Color Temp Selects the factory default picture color.
   Warm Sets the screen color to a reddish tone.
   Medium Sets the screen color between a red and blue tone.
   Cool Sets the screen color to a bluish tone.
   Custom Allows customization of red, green, or blue colors.
Red/Green/ Blue You can customize the picture color using Red, Green, and Blue colors.
Six Color Meets user requirements for colors by adjusting color and saturation of six colors (Red, Red Saturation, Green, Green Saturation, Blue, Blue Saturation, Cyan, Cyan Saturation, Magenta, Magenta Saturation, Yellow, Yellow Saturation) and saving settings.
   *Hue: Adjusts tone of the screen.
   *Saturation: Adjusts saturation. Lower value means less saturated and bright; higher value means more saturated and dark.
Reset Returns the color settings to the default settings.

Display Settings

Feature Description
Horizontal To move image left and right.
Vertical To move image up and down.
Clock To minimize vertical bars or stripes on the screen background. The horizontal screen size will also change.
Phase To adjust the focus of the display. Removes horizontal noise and sharpens image characters.

General Settings

Menu > General Description
Language To choose the language in which the control names are displayed.
Power LED Turns the power indicator on the front side of the monitor on/off.
   On The power indicator is automatically turned on.
   Off The power indicator is turned off.
Automatic Standby The monitor will automatically switch to standby mode after a certain period.
Resolution User can set the desired resolution. This option is enabled only when the screen resolution on your computer is set to the following (D-SUB only).
Note: The function is enabled only when the screen resolution on your computer is set to the following, except that the PC output wrong resolution.
   1024x768, 1280x768, 1360x768, 1366x768,Off
   1280x960, 1600x900,Off
   1440x900, 1600x900,Off
OSD Lock Prevents incorrect key input.
   On Key input is disabled.
Note: All functions except for OSD Lock mode, brightness, Contrast, Input and Volume are disabled.
   Off Key input is enabled.

Auto Configuration

Menu > Auto Configuration Description
Do you want to Auto Configuration? Operate the Auto Configuration for optimal display in D-SUB.
Yes
Cancel Cancel the selection.

This function will be enabled only in analog input.

Reset Settings

Menu > Reset Description
Do you want to reset your settings? Returns to the default settings.
