Using Your Tripod
The Ultima tripod provides a stable platform for your spotting scope, binocular, or camera. With three leg sections and an adjustable center column, it can be configured for various heights and terrains, making it suitable for outdoor excursions like bird watching or stargazing.
Adjusting the Pan/Tilt Head
The pan/tilt head has two control knobs for adjustment. To pan horizontally, loosen the panning tension knob until the head moves smoothly. To tilt vertically, loosen the tilt control knob and adjust the mounting platform to the desired position. Once positioned, tighten both tension knobs to secure.
The head includes a pan/tilt handle for maneuvering, a tilt control knob for vertical movement, and a panning tension knob for horizontal movement. Bubble levels are present to aid in leveling.
Quick Release Plate
The quick release plate allows for rapid attachment of your optics to the tripod. To remove the plate from the head, push the lock lever to the left until it locks. Attach the plate to any device with a 1/4"-20 mount thread by placing its front into the head, sliding it into place, and pressing down. The lock lever will automatically secure it.
Adjusting the Center Column
The center column can be extended to raise the tripod head when additional height is needed. Loosen the center column lock knob and move the column to the desired height. Tighten the lock knob to secure the position.
Adjusting the Leg Length
The length of each leg section is adjustable. Release the leg lock lever on a section, extend it to the desired height, and press the lever back into position to secure. Repeat for all leg sections. Legs can extend to a maximum of three sections.
Balance Hook
The balance hook on the Ultima tripod can be used to provide added stability in windy conditions. Hang a heavy object, such as a bag, from the hook. ? NOTE: The maximum load is 8.8 lb (4 kg).
Bubble Levels
To ensure that the tripod legs and pan head are level, reference the bubble levels located on the Ultima tripod head.
