Appliance Shut-off Conditions
The boiler is protected from malfunctions by internal checks. If the boiler is shut off, a code appears on the display indicating the type of shut-off and reason.
Types of Shut-off:
- Safety shut-off (volatile): The boiler restarts automatically once the problem is resolved. Display shows code and description (e.g., "Fault 110 - Send Probe Damaged" [ALERT], "No flame detected" [ALERT]).
- Operation shutdown (non-volatile): Not removed automatically. Display shows code and description. To restore normal operation, press the [RESET button]. The display shows "Reset in progress" then "Fault solved". If the problem persists, contact a qualified engineer.
When the cause of a safety shut-off is resolved, the boiler restarts. If a safety shut-off persists, switch off and contact a qualified engineer.
Safety Shut-off Due to Insufficient Water Pressure
The boiler signals a safety shutdown if water pressure is insufficient in the heating circuit. The display shows "Fault 108 - Filling Needed". The system may be restarted by re-balancing water pressure using the filling procedure (see Note 1).
[Fault 108 - Filling Needed]
[Important] If this shutdown occurs frequently, contact an authorised Ariston Service partner. For safety reasons, the boiler permits a maximum of 5 resets in 15 minutes. At the 6th attempt within this period, the boiler will shut down and may only be operated again after disconnecting the electricity supply.
If re-balancing is frequent, switch off the boiler, shut off the gas valve, and contact a qualified technician to check for leaks.

Anti-frost Function
The anti-frost function operates on the central heating flow temperature when the electrical supply is turned on. If the primary circuit temperature falls below 8°C, the pump runs for 2 minutes. After circulation, the boiler checks the temperature:
- If central heating flow temperature is > 8°C, the pump stops.
- If between 4°C and 8°C, the pump runs for another two minutes.
- If < 4°C, the burner fires at minimum power until the temperature reaches 33°C, then the pump continues to run for two minutes.
If the flow temperature remains between 4-8°C, the pump runs for two minutes for a maximum of 10 times, unless a temperature above 8°C is detected. If lockout is caused by overheat, the burner is kept OFF.
The anti-frost function activates only when:
- The system pressure is correct.
- The boiler is electrically powered.
- There is a supply of gas.
