Understanding the Recall
Intex Recreation Corp., in coordination with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Health Canada, is voluntarily recalling certain above-ground pool models. This recall addresses a potential drowning hazard associated with compression straps on pools 48 inches and taller.
Affected Products and Issue
The recall specifically targets Intex-branded above-ground pools manufactured and sold before 2013, as well as specific models sold in 2024 and 2025. The issue arises from compression straps that can be used as a foothold, allowing children to gain access to the pool, posing a drowning risk. For detailed information on identifying affected models, including specific model numbers and manufacturing years, please refer to the official recall information on the Intex website.
What to Do If Your Pool is Affected
If your Intex pool is part of this recall, Intex will provide a free repair kit. This kit includes components to safely remove the compression strap and maintain the pool's structural integrity. Instructions for installation are provided with the kit. Intex also offers a YouTube video with step-by-step visual instructions for the repair. For safety, it is recommended to ensure children cannot access the pool unattended until the repair is completed. Additional safety guidelines can be found at www.PoolSafely.gov.
