Installing the Litter-Robot 4 OdorTrap® Holder

About the OdorTrap® Holder

The OdorTrap® Holder allows the Litter-Robot 4 to be equipped with up to three OdorTrap® Packs. These packs are installed on the outer bottom area of the globe, positioned directly over the waste drawer to effectively eliminate odors. OdorTrap® Packs are sold separately and are not essential for the unit's basic function. For optimal performance, it is recommended to replace OdorTrap® Packs every 2-4 weeks.

The OdorTrap® Holder is a black, perforated plastic component designed to securely hold the OdorTrap® Packs. It has a curved, fan-like shape with a central opening and multiple small holes for air circulation. It features clips and notches for secure attachment within the Litter-Robot 4.

How to Install

1. Step 1: Prepare the Unit

   Ensure the Litter-Robot 4 unit is in the Home/Ready position. To achieve this, press and hold the Cycle and Empty buttons on the Litter-Robot 4 control panel for 3 seconds. Alternatively, tap "Replace Filter" under Controls in the Whisker app. This action initiates a clean cycle.

2. Step 2: Access the Filter Pocket

   A clean cycle will begin. The globe will rotate and then pause when it reaches the position where the filter pocket is accessible. This is the designated area for filter installation.

3. Step 3: Open the Bonnet

   To open the bonnet, press and hold the latches located on both sides of the bonnet. Then, lift and rotate the bonnet upward to its open position to fully reveal the filter pocket.

4. Step 4: Remove the Filter Cover

   Locate the small notch on the filter cover. Lift this notch to release the filter cover snaps from the globe. Once released, set the filter cover aside.

5. Step 5: Prepare for OdorTrap® Holder Installation

   If a carbon filter is currently installed, remove it. The filter pocket should now be empty and ready for the OdorTrap® Holder installation.

6. Step 6: Open the OdorTrap® Holder

   Open the OdorTrap® Holder by unsnapping the two side clips. The holder will unfold into a flatter, more open configuration.

7. Step 7: Position the OdorTrap® Holder on the Filter Cover

   Place the opened OdorTrap® Holder onto the filter cover. Ensure the center arrow on the OdorTrap® Holder aligns precisely with the small dot located on the center of the filter cover.

8. Step 8: Secure the OdorTrap® Holder to the Filter Cover

   Flip the filter cover over. Snap the two outer pieces of the OdorTrap® Holder into the filter cover first, followed by snapping the two inner pieces of the OdorTrap® Holder into the filter cover. This secures the holder to the cover.

9. Step 9: Insert OdorTrap® Packs

   Place up to three (3) OdorTrap® Packs inside the OdorTrap® Holder. The packs are small, rectangular sachets.

10. Step 10: Close the OdorTrap® Holder

    Secure the OdorTrap® Packs by closing the OdorTrap® Holder. Snap the side clips closed to ensure the packs are held firmly in place.

11. Step 11: Replace the Filter Cover Assembly

    Replace the filter cover, with the OdorTrap® Holder facing down, into the filter pocket on the globe. Ensure the filter cover is completely flush with the globe to prevent any obstruction during globe rotation.

12. Step 12: Close the Bonnet

    Rotate the bonnet downward over the globe. Push down on the bonnet from the top to ensure it is latched and securely closed.

13. Step 13: Reset the Unit

    Press the Cycle or Reset button to resume the clean cycle. Once the clean cycle has ended, press the Reset button again to zero the weight sensors. This completes the installation process.
