- WARNING! This notice indicates a specific hazard or unsafe practice that could result in severe personal injury or death if the proper precautions are not taken.
- CAUTION! This notice indicates a potentially hazardous situation that may result in minor or moderate injury if proper practices are not taken.
- NOTICE! This notice indicates that a specific hazard or unsafe practice will result in equipment or property damage, but not personal injury.
Work Area
- Operate in a safe work environment. Keep your work area clean, well-lit and free of distractions. Place lights so you are not working in a shadow.
- Keep anyone not wearing the appropriate safety equipment away from the work area.
- Store tools properly in a safe and dry location. Keep tools out of the reach of children.
- Do not install or use in the presence of flammable gases, dust or liquids.
Personal Safety
WARNING! Wear personal protective equipment approved by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) or American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
Personal Protective Equipment
- Always wear impact safety goggles that provide front and side protection for the eyes. Eye protection equipment should comply with CSA Z94.3-07 or ANSI Z87.1 standards based on the type of work performed.
- Wear gloves that provide protection based on the work materials or to reduce the effects of tool vibration.
- Do not wear gloves when operating a tool that can snag the material and pull the hand into the tool.
- Wear protective clothing designed for the work environment and tool.
- Non-skid footwear is recommended to maintain footing and balance in the work environment.
- Wear steel toe footwear or steel toe caps to prevent a foot injury from falling objects.
Personal Precautions
Control the tool, personal movement and the work environment to avoid personal injury or damage to the tool.
- Do not operate any tool when tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medications.
- Avoid wearing clothes or jewelry that can become entangled with the moving parts of a tool. Keep long hair covered or bound.
- Do not overreach when operating the tool. Proper footing and balance enables better control in unexpected situations.
Specific Safety Precautions
WARNING! DO NOT let comfort or familiarity with product (gained from repeated use) replace strict adherence to the tool safety rules. If you use this tool unsafely or incorrectly, you can suffer serious personal injury.
- Use the correct tool for the job. This tool was designed for a specific function. Do not modify or alter this tool or use it for an unintended purpose.
- Do not use the tool if any parts are damaged, broken or misplaced. Repair or replace the parts.
- Do not attempt to pump the lift higher than its highest position.
- If the lifted lawn mower begins to wobble, appears unstable, or does not securely engage the wheel brackets, lower the load as it is not compatible with this lift.
- Always place the device on a hard, level surface capable of supporting the load. Allow enough clearance around the device and the load for movement.
- Ensure that the load is center-loaded and secure.
- Do not place your hands between moving components.
- Ensure that there are no obstructions under the load and that the area is clear before lowering the device.
- Do not attempt to move the load while on the jack. The jack must only be used in a static position for lifting and lowering loads. Ensure that the load remains stable at all times.
- Do not expose the lift to rain or any other inclement weather.
- Never work on or around a load that is not stable or secure.
- Ensure that all applicable pins, bolts and nuts are firmly tightened before using.
- Before lowering load, ensure that there are no obstructions underneath and that all people are standing clear.

- Attach the pump (B) to the jack mounting plate.
- Attach the foot pedal (#22) to the pump.
- Attach the wheel bracket (F) to the lifting arm (G) and then attach to the main frame (D).
- Attach the wheels (C) and handle (A) to the frame.
- Tighten all of the fasteners securely.
Operation
Purging Air
- Ensure the lift is fully lowered.
- Depress the release valve.
- Depress the foot pedal 10 to 20 times to eliminate air.
- Carefully and slowly pinch the oil fill plug to release trapped air.
Lifting
- Position the lift in a suitable, appropriate work area.
- Measure and determine the wheel width of the vehicle you wish to lift.
- Adjust the wheel brackets to match the width of the vehicle's wheels.
- Always ensure that both wheel brackets are spaced equally from the centre. Failure to do so can lead to uneven loads and a potential tipping hazard.
- Lock the wheel brackets in place using the width pins (#33).
- Examine the vehicle wheels and set the depth of the wheel brackets to be slightly larger than the distance by adjusting the wheel bracket rods (E).
- Use the vehicle's steering wheel or mechanism to straight its wheels.
- Press the fronts of the wheel brackets straight against the front of the vehicle's wheels.
- Push the wheel brackets under the wheels until both of the wheels rest securely in the centre of the brackets.
- Be sure that both safety lock levers are in the closed, locked position.
- Tie-down straps (sold separately) can be used to help secure the load to the bracket.
- Hold the handle securely and depress the foot pedal to lift the vehicle to your desired height.
- Use smooth, full strokes for best results.
- As the load is lifting, the locking mechanism will automatically engage to lock the lifting arms (#27, 28) in 1 of 3 positions. Ensure this has been accomplished before working on the vehicle.
Lowering
- Remove any tools, components or other items from underneath the vehicle and the general work area.
- Pump the foot pedal slightly to remove weight from the locking mechanism.
- Place the 2 safety lock levers (#40) in the horizontal, unlocked position to disengage the locking mechanism.
- Press and hold the pedal slowly to lower the vehicle.
- Once lowering is complete, remove any tie-down straps that may have been used and separate the lift from the vehicle.
Care & Maintenance
- Maintain the tool with care. A tool in good condition is efficient, easier to control and will have fewer problems.
- Inspect the tool components periodically. Repair or replace damaged or worn components. Only use identical replacement parts when servicing.
- Follow instructions for lubricating and changing accessories.
- Only use accessories intended for use with this tool.
- Keep the tool clean, dry and free from oil/grease at all times.
- Check the ram and piston periodically for signs of corrosion.
- Check the hydraulic oil level regularly. If not adequate, replace as necessary. Do not use brake fluid or any other improper fluid.
- When not in use, ensure the lift is in its fully lowest position and stored in a clean, dry location.
- If lift efficiency drops, purge air away from the hydraulic system.
- Maintain the tool's labels and name plates. These carry important information. If unreadable or missing, contact Princess Auto Ltd. for replacements.
WARNING! Only qualified service personnel should repair the tool. An improperly repaired tool may present a hazard to the user and/or others.
Cleaning
Clean exposed areas of the lift regularly with a clean cloth.
Lubrication
Inspect and lubricate the tool when required. Only use light oil to lubricate the tool. Other lubricants may not be suitable and could damage the tool or cause a malfunction during use.
When not in use for an extended period, apply a thin coat of lubricant to the steel parts to avoid rust. Remove the lubricant before using the tool again.
NOTICE! NEVER use a penetrating oil to lubricate the tool. Penetrating oil may act as a solvent that will break down the grease and cause the tool to seize up.
Disposal
Recycle a tool damaged beyond repair at the appropriate facility. Contact your local municipality for a list of disposal facilities or by-laws for electronic devices, batteries, oil or other toxic liquids.
IMPORTANT! DO NOT pollute the environment by allowing uncontrolled discharge of waste oil.
