Assembly & Installation

  1. The edging wheel fits onto the left side, under the motor housing.
  2. Push the wheel's trim into the opening and hook the rear into the panel.
  3. Insert a screw into the trim's front bolt hole. Insert a second screw behind the wheel and tighten to secure.
  4. Flip the trimmer head and safety guard upside-down.
  5. Slide the safety guard's slot under the trimmer line spool until fully seated. The guard should cup the lower motor housing.
  6. Insert a screw into the bolt hole to secure the guard.
  7. Gently tug the safety guard to ensure it is secure.
  8. Spread the wire guide ends apart until taut. Slip each hooked end into the side openings of the safety guard. The wire guide should snap into place. Tug to ensure it is secure.
  9. Flip the grass trimmer right-side up.
  10. Push the ends of the front handle onto the frame's handle mount. Insert a bolt through the handle ends and mount.
  11. Slide the handle adjustment knob onto the bolt and secure with a nut. The nut fits into the knob. Pull the knob out until the nut is inside, then rotate the knob to secure the handle.

Install External Battery Pack

  1. Check battery power level before each use. The battery is not fully charged out of the carton; charge it before first use.
  2. Install the battery by aligning its rib with the groove on the battery port and push forward until the latch clicks.
  3. Remove the battery by pushing the battery lock button and pulling the battery free.

Operation

Grass Trimmer Set-Up

  1. Push and hold the trimmer head button, then adjust the trimmer head's angle.
  2. Loosen the extension tube collar and pull the extension tube out.
  3. Loosen the handle adjustment knob to move the front handle back and forth.
  4. Place the trimmer head on the ground with the string spool flat.
  5. Extend or retract the extension tube until you can stand comfortably with a straight back. Retract the tube an additional half-inch and tighten the extension tube collar.
  6. Adjust the front handle for comfort, then tighten the adjustment knob.
  7. The trimmer head should be just off the ground when standing straight. Make fine-tuning adjustments as needed.

Using the Grass Trimmer

  1. Hold the trimmer head off the ground.
  2. Push the trigger lock button, then squeeze the trigger. Release the trigger lock button once the motor starts.
  3. Move the trimmer slowly side to side while walking forward slowly to trim the grass.
  4. Trim tall grass in layers: cut the top part first, then the lower part of the blade or stalk.
  5. The trimmer line will not extend past the wire guide. Touch the wire guide to a tree trunk, wall, or other structure when cutting grass near them to avoid damage.
  6. Release the trigger when the task is complete.

Edge Trimming

  1. Push and hold the trimmer head button, then straighten the trimmer head angle until it is in-line with the extension tube.
  2. Twist the trimmer head until the edging wheel is at a 90° angle to the handle.
  3. Place the wheel on the ground and align the trimmer line with the lawn's edge.
  4. Start the motor and wait for it to reach full speed.
  5. Walk the trimmer along the lawn's edge, maintaining a steady pace until the edge is cut.
  6. Release the trigger and reposition for the next cut once the trimmer spool stops spinning.

Automatic and Manual Line Feed

Starting the motor automatically feeds a small amount of trimmer line. An embedded blade in the safety guard cuts the line to the correct length. If a line breaks upon hitting a hard structure, you can manually feed additional line.

  1. Remove the battery.
  2. Flip the trimmer head upside down and prop the trimmer up; both hands will be needed.
  3. Push the small button on the spool head housing and pull the line out (about 1 cm at a time). Pull the other line out as well.
  4. Repeat step 3 until enough line is fed.
  5. Flip the trimmer head right side up and reinsert the battery.
  6. Press the safety lock and trigger. The embedded blade will cut both trimmer lines to length.
  7. The grass trimmer is ready for use.

Replacing the Trimming Line

Replacement nylon trimmer line must have a diameter of 1.3, 1.4, or 1.5 mm.

  1. Flip the trimmer head upside down.
  2. Push the two side tabs on the trimmer line spool housing and pull the cover upwards.
  3. Remove the spool.
  4. Remove and discard any remaining line.
  5. Unroll 16 feet (5 metres) of trimmer line, cut it, and insert into one spool hole. Repeat for the second strand.
  6. Wind lines onto the spool in the direction of the arrow, leaving about six inches of each line sticking out. Avoid overlapping strands.
  7. Insert each line's tag end through the holes in the trimmer spool housing from the inside.
  8. Push the spool into the housing while pulling out tag ends to prevent trapping.
  9. Push the spool housing cover into place, aligning tabs with housing openings until it clicks.

Storage

  1. Remove the battery.
  2. Clean the exterior with a soft brush and cloth. Do not use water, solvents, or polish. Remove grass and debris, especially from ventilation slots.
  3. Turn the tool on its side and clean the cutting guard. Remove compacted grass cuttings with a wooden or plastic implement.
  4. Do not place objects on top of the tool when in storage to avoid damage.
  5. For extended periods of non-use, apply a thin coat of lubricant to steel parts to prevent rust. Remove lubricant before next use.
