Up to 3 telephone numbers can be stored as speed dials via the UNITE APP or INTERPHONE Device Manager.

U-COM 3 supports A2DP profile for playing music from Bluetooth® devices.

6.2 Music sharing

Share music with another U-COM unit during a two-way intercom conversation. Both units can control music playback. Music sharing cannot be activated simultaneously with an intercom conversation.

To start/stop sharing, activate intercom conversation first, then press the PHONE button for 3 seconds.

7. BLUETOOTH® INTERCOM

7.1 Intercom pairing

U-COM 3 can be paired with up to 3 other UCOM or Sena units.

Pairing process:

  1. Press and hold the center (intercom) button on both units for 5 seconds until the voice prompt “intercom pairing” is heard and the light flashes red.
  2. After a few seconds, units will be paired and intercom communication will start. The light on both units will flash blue twice.
  3. Repeat the process for additional units (e.g., A and C, then A and D).

7.2 Two-way Intercom Conversation

Communication can be started by pressing the INTERCOM button (center button):

7.3 Old Interphone Series

Pair previous Interphone series devices by pressing the INTERCOM and TELEPHONE buttons for 5 seconds. Then start pairing mode on the second unit.

7.4 Anycom

Allows intercom conversations with other intercom brands. Can pair with one non-Interphone device at a time. Intercom distance depends on the paired device's performance. Pairing with a non-Interphone device disconnects any previously paired second mobile phone.

Pairing process:

  1. With U-COM 3 on, enter the configuration menu by pressing the central button for 10 seconds until the LED turns blue.
  2. Press the PHONE button 3 times to activate ANYCOM pairing mode.
  3. Set the non-Interphone intercom to Phone pairing mode.

8. FUNCTION PRIORITY AND FIRMWARE UPGRADES

8.1 Function Priority

Intercom prioritizes connected devices in the following order:

  1. Phone (highest)
  2. Bluetooth® Intercom
  3. Bluetooth® stereo music (lowest)

Lower priority functions can be interrupted by higher priority functions (e.g., music by intercom, intercom by incoming call). Priority can be reversed via the APP or device manager.

8.2 Firmware Upgrades

Firmware can be upgraded using the Device Manager utility (available for PC/MAC at www.interphone.com). Connect the headset via USB-C cable to your computer, start Device Manager, and follow instructions. The Interphone Unite APP can check firmware versions but cannot perform upgrades.

9. CONFIGURATION SETTING

9.1 Headset Configuration Setting

Enter the settings menu by pressing and holding the central button for 10 seconds until the LED turns blue.

Navigate settings by pressing the MUSIC or PHONE button. Confirm options by pressing the CENTER button.

Menu options:

  1. Phone pairing
  2. Second Mobile Phone Pairing
  3. Phone selective pairing (HFP profile only)
  4. Media selective pairing (A2DP profile only)
  5. GPS pairing
  6. Delete all pairings
  7. Anycom pairing
  8. Factory reset
  9. Exit

9.1.1 Delete all pairings

Deletes all Bluetooth® pairings stored on the device.

9.2 Device settings

Device settings can be changed via the Device Manager utility (www.interphone.com) or the Interphone UNITE app. The “Advanced Features” setting enables:

9.2.1 Speed dial

Assign phone numbers for quick dialing.

9.2.2 Unit Language

Select the device language, which is maintained after reboot.

9.2.3 Audio Equalizer (Default: Off)

Adjusts audio decibel levels for different frequency ranges:

9.2.4 VOX Phone (Default: Enable)

Allows answering calls by voice (e.g., saying “Hello” or blowing into the microphone). VOX phone is temporarily disabled during intercom connections. If disabled, calls must be answered by tapping the Center Button. This feature prevents accidental activation from wind noise.

9.2.5 VOX Intercom (Default: Disable)

Initiates intercom conversations by voice. Voice-initiated intercoms automatically terminate after 20 seconds of silence. Manually initiated intercoms must be terminated manually. If a voice-initiated intercom is manually terminated, voice initiation is temporarily disabled and requires a manual restart via the Center Button. This prevents repeated unintentional connections due to wind noise.

9.2.6 Bluetooth® Intercom Audio Multitasking (Default: Disabled)

Allows intercom conversations while listening to music or GPS instructions. Overlaid audio plays at reduced volume during intercom and returns to normal afterward. Requires headset power cycle for proper function. Works with headsets supporting this feature. Some GPS devices may not support it. Configurable via Audio Overlay Volume Management settings.

9.2.7 Audio Source Priority (Default: Intercom)

Reverses priority between Intercom and Music functions (refer to Chapter 8.1).

9.2.8 HD Intercom (Default: Enable)

Enhances two-way intercom audio quality to HD. HD Intercom is temporarily disabled in multi-way intercoms, reverting to normal quality. Intercom distance may be shorter with HD Intercom. Disabled when Bluetooth® Intercom Audio Multitasking is enabled.

9.2.9 HD Voice (Default: Enable)

Provides high-definition audio for phone calls, resulting in crisp and clear conversations. Three-Way Conference Phone Calls with Intercom Participants are not available if HD Voice is enabled. Check device manufacturer for HD Voice support. Active only when Bluetooth® Intercom Audio Multitasking is disabled.

9.2.10 Voice Prompt (Default: Enable)

Voice prompts for headset settings, battery level, and speed dial are always active.

10. TROUBLESHOOTING

For video tutorials and FAQs, visit www.interphone.com.

10.1 Fault reset

To reset the unit when the intercom is not working properly:

  1. Locate the Reset button at the bottom left of the Intercom button.
  2. Gently insert a paper clip into the hole and press down with light pressure. The headset will turn off.

Note: Resetting after an error does not reset intercom to factory settings.

10.2 Factory reset

Restores the headset to factory default settings:

With U-COM 3 on, enter the configuration menu by pressing the power key for 10 seconds (until the LED turns blue). Press the PHONE button twice to hear the “Factory reset” message. Press the CENTRAL button once to confirm. A voice announcement will confirm: “Reset headphones, goodbye.”
