Upgrading Firmware Version in Fanvil Phone (USB Mode)

1. Introduction
To resolve phone bugs or add new functions, the phone needs to be upgraded to a newer version.
1.1. Overview
This guide provides instructions for upgrading Fanvil phone firmware using USB mode.
1.2. Applicable model
Applicable product model: Fanvil phones with a USB interface.
Applicable version: Applicable to all versions of the model.
1.3. Prerequisite preparation tool
- A Fanvil X4U phone, connected to a switch to automatically obtain an IP address.
- A PC/Laptop connected to the same switch as the IP phone, ensuring both devices are on the same local network.

2. Solution
2.1 Medium and high end series phone
Applicable models: X4U/X5U/X6U/X7c/X7/X210/X210i
Upgrade file format: .Z file
2.1.1 Check the current hardware version of the phone and download the corresponding firmware version
To check the hardware version, navigate to: Menu ➔ Status ➔ Phone. The phone's status screen displays information including MAC address, Model, Hardware version, Software version, RAM, and ROM.

2.1.2 Operating USB
Copy the downloaded firmware file (must be a .Z file) to a USB drive.

2.1.3 Enter the phone post mode and upgrade
Power on the phone. When the power light flashes 3 times, continuously press the '#' key until 'Post Mode' appears on the screen.

Input '*#167' and an upgrade prompt will appear on the screen.

After a successful upgrade, a 'Successful upgrade' prompt will appear on the screen.

2.2 Android series phone
For X7A models, the upgrade file must be renamed to 'fv_update.zip' when upgrading via USB. The phone will automatically identify the upgrade file and prompt for the upgrade. It is important to note that for Android series phones using a USB flash drive for software upgrades, the upgrade file must be in .zip format.
2.2.1 Download the upgrade file to the USB and rename it FV_update.zip

2.2.2 Insert the USB into the USB interface of the phone

2.2.3 USB is inserted, the phone automatically identifies the upgrade file, and "loading" is displayed on the phone
Once the USB drive is inserted, the phone automatically detects the upgrade file and displays a 'Loading...' message on its screen. A screenshot shows the phone's display with the 'Loading...' status.
2.2.4 The phone recognizes the upgrade file and prompts for upgrade
The phone identifies the firmware file and presents an 'Update Firmware' prompt. This prompt shows the current version and the new version available for update. Users can choose to 'CANCEL' or 'UPDATE'. A screenshot displays this prompt.
2.2.5 Upgrade effective
After the upgrade process is complete, the phone displays the 'Update Firmware' screen again, indicating that the current version and the new version are the same, confirming the upgrade was successful. A screenshot shows the phone's display confirming the successful update.
