2. New Features & Enhancements
This update introduces significant new functionalities and improvements to the Omada SDN Controller.
- Global View Integration: The Global View is now decoupled from the Site View. The Global View allows for controller-level overview, site and device management, log viewing, and settings. The Site View focuses on monitoring and configuring individual sites.
- Map Function Support: New map functionality requires a Mapbox API Access Token with default public token scopes. This feature is divided into Site Map and Device Map, enabling users to set latitude and longitude for each site and device.
- Upgraded Account System: Beyond the existing Master Administrator, Administrator, and Viewer roles, users can now create custom account roles. These new roles allow for tailored permissions to access specific features and can be bound to new accounts. Users must upgrade the Omada APP to version 4.6 to ensure login compatibility with new accounts.
- Dark Scheme: A new Dark scheme option is available. It can be enabled via Global Settings → Controller Settings → User Interface → Dark Settings.
- Configuration Copy Support: Users can now copy configurations for Omada EAP and Switch devices. This facilitates batch configuration or device replacement by allowing configuration replication from one device to another at the same site.
- Optimized Quick Setup: The Quick Setup process has been optimized, eliminating the default site. Users can now choose "Config New Setup" or "Restore from backup file" during this stage and create sites later.
- Redirection Countdown Hiding: Support has been added to hide the portal's redirection countdown. This is achieved by unchecking the "Show Redirection Countdown After Authorized" option in Portal Customization settings.
- Automatic Power Optimization: Algorithms for Automatic Power Optimization have been improved.
- Improved Device Page Loading Speed: The loading speed of the Device page has been enhanced for a smoother user experience.
- Omada Gateway Feature Support: Support for the following features has been added to Omada Gateway devices, requiring future firmware updates. Note that some Omada Gateway models may not support all features; details will be provided in new firmware release notes.
- Bridge VLAN: Bind multiple VLANs with a single LAN interface.
- Quality of Service (QoS): Configurable via Site Settings → Transmission.
- LDAP Authentication: Support for PPTP/L2TP/OpenVPN.
- Wireguard VPN
- SHA-384 and SHA-512: For IPsec and IPsec Failover.
- Full mode for OpenVPN
- DNS Proxy: Configurable via Site Settings → Services, with DNSSEC, DoH, and DoT support.
- DDNS Customization
- New DHCP Options:
- Option 2: Time Offset
- Option 42: NTP Server Network Boot
- Option 67: TFTP Server
- Option 252: WPAD URL
- DHCP Options Customization
- PVID Config
- MRU Config: For PPPoE.
- Keywords mode: For Gateway URL Filtering.
- Bonjour Service, Service, and Client Network options: For Gateway mDNS.
- VoIP Protocol and multiple WAN support: For Policy Routing.
- Import DHCP Reservation Entry and Export: To IP-MAC Binding Entry.
