General Outline
Compact electromechanical barrier suitable for limiting private areas, parkings, and access areas for vehicles only. Available for passageways from 2 to 6 metres. Adjustable electronic limit switches ensure correct boom stopping position. The emergency release device for manual manoeuvre is controlled by a personalised key lock. The barrier is supplied without a spring; the spring must be purchased separately and can be installed with the opening on the right or left according to need. The fixing template (on request) makes barrier installation easier. Appropriate fittings facilitate accessory installation. The MERAK control panel is supplied by the manufacturer with standard settings. Any changes must be made via the incorporated display or the universal programmer. It fully supports EELINK and U-LINK protocols. Its main features include: control of 1 low-voltage motor, obstacle detection, separate inputs for safety devices, configurable command inputs, and a built-in radio receiver with rolling code and transmitter cloning. The board has a removable terminal strip for easier maintenance or replacement.
Kit Composition
The kit includes:
- Boom mounting
- Boom
- Spring (refer to "spring configuration")
- Rubber
Equipment typically required for installation:
Tools such as wrenches (sizes 10, 13, 17, 19), screwdrivers (PH1, PH2), a drill with a 10mm bit, and a hammer are usually needed. Torque wrench for 40 Nm is also specified.
Installation
Installation with foundation plate embedded in ground:
This method involves using a fixing template and anchor bolts (M12) to secure the foundation plate to the ground before installing the barrier post.
Installation with anchor bolts:
This method involves drilling holes in the concrete base, inserting anchor bolts (M10), and then securing the barrier post to these bolts. Ensure the anchor bolts are installed correctly, with a maximum protrusion of 2 cm from the concrete surface.
Spring Configuration
The correct spring configuration depends on the boom type (BOOM ES/BOOM PS, with or without lights/rubber, with ADJ-FOOT or BTM-SKIRT) and the boom length (L). A table provides specific spring codes (F1, F2, F3) for different configurations. The document details both left and right spring assembly procedures, involving specific parts and tools.
Boom Balancing
Boom balancing is a critical step to ensure smooth operation. The process involves adjusting tensioning screws. A table provides recommended speeds for various boom lengths, detailing open/close times, motor type settings, maximum speed parameters, deceleration distance, and acceleration settings.
Wiring and Connections
Cable Arrangement: Diagrams illustrate the routing of cables for the Left Hand (LH) and Right Hand (RH) barriers, specifying cable types and cross-sections (e.g., 3x0.75 mm², 2x0.75 mm², 2x1 mm², 3x1.5 mm², 5x0.75 mm²).
Electrical Installation Set-up: Warnings emphasize disconnecting power before opening, ensuring the spring is discharged, and keeping mains power connections separate from service connections (photocells, safety edges, control devices). It advises following current regulations, using appropriate cable sections for length, and decoupling control/safety devices if auxiliary connections exceed 50 meters or are in high-disturbance areas. Wires carrying different voltages must be kept physically separate or suitably insulated.
Control Unit Connections: Diagrams show how to connect the control unit, including the expansion board and the universal palmtop programmer.
Terminal Board Wiring: A detailed diagram illustrates the terminal board layout, showing connections for power supply (220-230V~), motor, safety devices (SAFE 1, SAFE 2, FAULT 1, FAULT 2), commands (STOP, IC1, IC2), accessories power supply (24V~), and limit switch connections. It specifies wire colours (Brown for L, Blue for N, Yellow/Green for Earth) and terminal definitions.
H - Photocells and Connections: Diagrams show connections for checked and unchecked photocells, as well as connections to car-park management systems. It details various safety input configurations (SAFE 1, SAFE 2) for different devices like photocells and safety edges, specifying logic settings (e.g., Phot, Phot test, Bar, Bar 8k2).
Operation Modes and Configuration
Manual Operation: The barrier can be operated manually by releasing the mechanism, allowing the boom to be moved by hand. It can be switched between manual and automatic modes using a key lock.
Simplified Menu & Access Menus: The manual details how to access and navigate the control unit's menus (Simplified Menu, Parameters, Logic, Radio, Diagnostics, Password) using the display and programmer. It lists various parameters, their default settings, and their functions, such as automatic closing time, speed settings, deceleration distance, and acceleration. It also covers logic configurations for inputs and outputs, radio menu settings, and diagnostics codes with descriptions and troubleshooting notes.
U-Link and Network Configuration: Information is provided on connecting expansion boards and using the universal handheld programmer. It explains U-LINK network configurations (Master/Slave) and address settings.
Restoring Factory Settings: A procedure is outlined for resetting the control unit to its factory default settings, which also erases all stored transmitters.
Emergency Release: Instructions are given for emergency release, emphasizing safety when the boom is without a bar.
