Introduction

Thank you for choosing a Hama product. Please take the time to familiarize yourself with the following instructions and information. Keep this operating manual in a safe place for future reference. If you sell the device, hand over this operating manual to the new owner.

Product Overview and Controls

The Hama DR5BT is a digital radio offering FM, DAB, DAB+, and Bluetooth connectivity.

Device Layout

Front Panel (A): Features a speaker grill, a 1.77" LCD display, and several control buttons:

• 1. [PRESET 1] button: Play/Pause function.
• 2. [PRESET2] button: Forward function.
• 3. [PRESET] button: Preset function.
• 4. [SETTINGS] button: Accesses the settings menu.
• 5. [MODE/INFO] button: Switches between modes or displays information.
• 6. [BACK] button: Returns to the previous menu level.
• 7. [POWER] / [VOLUME/NAVIGATE] button: Powers the device on/off, adjusts volume, and navigates menus.
• OK/ENTER button: Confirms selections.

Side Panel (B): Contains connectivity ports and the antenna:

• 8. Antenna: Extendable for optimal reception.
• 9. USB Connection: For playback of media files.
• 10. Aux-in (3.5 mm): For connecting external audio sources.
• 11. USB-C Connector: For charging the device.

Getting Started and Setup

Initial Setup: Upon first startup, the system interface will prompt you to select your preferred language. The default language for the radio's menu structure is English.

Tuning Optimization: Fully extend the antenna and position it vertically for optimal reception.

Powering On/Off:

• Mains Operation: Press the [POWER] button (7) to turn on. Press and hold the [POWER] button (7) for approximately 1 second to enter standby mode.
• Battery Operation: Press and hold the [POWER] button (7) for approximately 3 seconds to turn on. Press the [POWER] button (7) to turn off.

Charging the Battery: Use the supplied USB-C cable (11) and a suitable USB power adapter. A full charging cycle takes approximately 8 hours. The battery can be charged whether the device is on or off.

Radio Operation

DAB/DAB+ Radio

The radio receives digital radio frequencies in the 174 MHz to 240 MHz range (Band III).

• Press the [MODE] button (5) repeatedly to activate DAB mode.
• Station Scanning: Automatic scanning searches for available DAB stations.
• Station List: Access the list of available stations via the [BACK] button (6) or through the Settings menu.
• Edit Station List: Remove unavailable stations from the list via the Settings menu.
• Presets: Save up to 30 favorite stations for quick access.

FM Radio

Press the [MODE] button (5) repeatedly to activate FM mode.

• Tuning Settings: Configure whether to ignore stations with weak signals.
• Automatic Station Search: Press the [VOLUME/SELECT/NAVIGATE] button (7) to start scanning. The radio stops and plays when a station is found. Press again to stop scanning.
• Presets: Save up to 30 favorite FM stations.

Connectivity and Playback

Bluetooth®

When Bluetooth is enabled for the first time, the radio enters pairing mode. Pair with devices like smartphones to stream audio. Previously paired devices will connect automatically.

AUX IN

Connect external audio sources via the 3.5 mm Aux-in port (10). Volume can be controlled by the radio, while other operations are managed by the connected source device.

USB Playback

Connect a USB storage device to the USB port (9) to play MP3, WAV, and WMA files.

Settings Menu

Access the Settings menu via the [SETTINGS] button (4).

• Language: Change the user interface language.
• Sleep Timer: Set a timer to automatically switch the radio to standby mode.
• Time/Date: Manually set or receive time and date from DAB/FM signals. Format options are available.
• Equalizer (EQ): Select from predefined sound profiles (Normal, Classical, Pop, Jazz, Rock, etc.) or create custom settings.
• Display Brightness: Adjust screen brightness and set display timeout for standby mode.
• Factory Reset: Restore the device to its original factory settings. This will erase all custom settings, including presets.
• System Version: View information about the device's software.

Care and Maintenance

Disconnect the device from the power supply before cleaning or if it will not be used for an extended period.

Clean the product only with a slightly damp, lint-free cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaning agents.

Store the device in a clean, dry place away from direct sunlight.
