Understanding the Equipment

The RT-920 features an antenna, PTT button, programmable function keys (PF1, PF2, PF3), digital status indicator, power knob, display screen, indicator light, microphone jack, and headphone jack.

Basic Operation

Selecting the Main Frequency Band: Press the "A/B" button to select the main frequency band. The larger display indicates the active band.
PTT Function: Press the PTT button to transmit on the selected band's frequency.
Switching Channel and Frequency Mode: Press the "VFO/MR" button to switch between channel and frequency modes.
AM Airband Mode: Press "VFO/MR" to enter frequency mode. Enter frequencies between 108 MHz and 136 MHz. The radio enters AM receive mode.
Scan Mode: Assign PF2/PF3 keys to scan function or long press '1' to start frequency or channel scanning. Options include Time (TO), Carrier (CO), and Search (SE) modes.
Sweep Function/Copy Frequency: Find frequencies and sub-tones of nearby radios for instant communication.
NOAA Weather Forecast Function: Press the assigned side key to activate. The radio has 10 built-in frequencies.
DTMF Coded Transmission: Press and hold PTT while entering numeric keys to transmit DTMF codes.
DTMF Code Editing: Short press '#' in standby mode to enter DTMF code editing interface.

Menu Functions

Navigate the menu by pressing "OK/menu", then use Up/Down keys or the channel knob to select options. Press "OK/menu" to confirm and "EXIT" to return to normal operation.

SQL: Squelch level adjustment.
Step: Frequency step adjustment.
TXP: Transmit power selection (High, Medium, Low).
Save: Save current settings.
VOX: VOX function activation and sensitivity level.
W/N: Wide/Narrow bandwidth selection.
ABR: Automatic backlight off time.
TDR: Dual band standby on/off.
Tips: Beep on/off.
SC-REV: Busy Channel Lockout (BCL) and Scan Reverse modes.
CH-NAME: Channel name assignment.
Roger: Roger beep enable/disable.
Voice: Voice prompt enable/disable.
Languages: Select voice prompt language (English, Russian).
BCL: Busy Channel Lockout.
TOT: Time-out Timer for transmission.
Offset: Frequency offset for repeater operation.
SFT-D: Repeater shift direction.
Delch: Delete saved channels.
R-CTCSS: Receive CTCSS tone selection.
R-DCS: Receive DCS code selection.
T-CTCSS: Transmit CTCSS tone selection.
T-DCS: Transmit DCS code selection.
Voice-PRI: Voice priority setting.
Encryption: Voice encryption settings.
Scan Add: Add or delete channels to scan list.
Tone: Tone burst generation.
PTT-LT: DTMF auto-transmission delay.
ANI-ST: ANI (Automatic Number Identification) settings.
DTMFST: DTMF transmission settings (DT+ANI, DT+ANI, Both).
Auto-Lock: Automatic keypad lock setting.
Scramble Add: Add or delete channels to scramble list.
Competition: Competition mode settings.
Bluetooth: Enable Bluetooth for mobile app connection (RT-900 Bluetooth version only).
Reset: Menu initialization.
Modulation: Select AM or FM modulation.
