IKEA UDDARP Washing Machine

Installation

Read the safety booklet and follow the assembly instructions. The manufacturer is not liable for damage or injury due to failure to comply with safety precautions.

  • Ensure all transit bolts are removed.
  • Ensure hoses and cables are correctly connected.
  • Handling and installation require at least two people to prevent injury. Use protective gloves during unpacking and installation to avoid cuts.
  • When installing, ensure the four feet are stable and resting on the floor. Adjust them as needed and check that the appliance is perfectly level using a spirit level.
  • If installing on wood or floating floors (e.g., certain parquet or laminate materials), secure a plywood sheet (at least 60 x 60 x 3 cm) to the floor and place the appliance on top.
  • Connect the water inlet hose(s) to the water supply according to local water company regulations.
  • The washing machine is fitted with transport bolts to prevent internal damage during transport. These bolts must be removed before use. After removal, cover the openings with the 4 provided plastic caps.

Daily Use

Preparing the Laundry

  • Empty pockets: Remove coins, paper clips, etc., as they can damage the machine and laundry. Tissues can disintegrate and require manual removal of fragments.
  • Close zippers, buttons, and hooks. Tie ribbons or belts.
  • Delicates: Place small items (e.g., nylon hosiery, garments with hooks like bras) in a fabric bag or pillowcase with a zipper.
  • Curtains: Remove rings or place curtains with rings in a fabric bag.

How to Use the Washing Machine

  1. Load laundry: Open the door and load laundry loosely into the drum, without overfilling. Refer to the "PROGRAMME CHART" for load sizes. Overloading can lead to unsatisfactory washing results and creased laundry.
  2. Close door: Ensure no laundry is caught between the door glass and the rubber seal. Close the door until it clicks shut.
  3. Open water tap: Ensure the machine is connected to the water mains and open the water tap.
  4. Set the desired programme: Select the program using the dial. The default temperature and duration will be displayed. Adjust temperature and spin speed if needed using the respective buttons.
  5. Change temperature: Press the "Temperature" button to lower the temperature. Pressing again sets the highest possible setting.
  6. Change spin speed: Press the "Spin" button to decrease spin speed. Pressing again sets the highest possible setting.
  7. Select functions: Press the button to select a function; its symbol will illuminate. Press again to cancel; the light will extinguish. If a selected function is incompatible with the program, a buzzer will sound and the indicator light will flash.
  8. Add detergent: Pull out the detergent dispenser and add detergent and additives to the appropriate compartments. Follow the detergent manufacturer's dosing recommendations. Correct dosing is important for optimal cleaning, avoiding residues, saving money, protecting the machine, and respecting the environment.
  9. Delay start: Press the button to set a delayed start time (up to 24 hours). The symbol will light up. Press again to cancel the delay.
  10. Start programme: Press the Start/Pause button. The door will lock, and the drum will start rotating.
  11. Change settings of a running program: Press Start/Pause to pause, change settings, then press Start/Pause again to resume.
  12. Pause and open door: Press Start/Pause to pause. If the water level and temperature are low, the "Door locked" indicator will turn off, allowing you to add or remove laundry. Press Start/Pause to resume.
  13. Cancel program: Press and hold the ON/OFF button. The machine will stop. If water and temperature are low, the door unlocks. To unlock if water remains, select "Spin & Drain" and set spin speed to "0".
  14. Switch off after program: The display will show "END". Open the door only when the "Door locked" symbol is off. Press ON/OFF to switch off. The machine will automatically switch off after about 30 minutes if not manually turned off. Leave the door ajar to dry the interior.

Hints and Tips

Rules for Separating Laundry

  • Fabric type: Follow care label instructions (cotton, mixed fibres, synthetics, wool, handwash items).
  • Colour: Separate coloured items from whites; wash new coloured items separately.
  • Size: Wash items of different sizes together for better washing efficacy and drum balance.
  • Delicates: Place small items (e.g., nylon stockings) and garments with clasps (e.g., bras) in a laundry bag or pillowcase with a zipper.

Wash Symbols on Garment Labels

The value in the tub symbol indicates the maximum washing temperature.

  • Normal mechanical action
  • Reduced mechanical action
  • Much reduced mechanical action
  • Hand wash only
  • Do not wash

Clean the Water Filter Regularly

This prevents filter blockage and ensures proper water drainage.

Accessories

The Stacking Kit is available at IKEA stores, allowing you to fix a dryer on top of the washing machine for space-saving and easier loading/unloading.

Saving Energy and Protecting the Environment

  • Adhere to load limits in the "PROGRAMME CHART" to optimize energy, water, and detergent consumption, and reduce washing times.
  • Do not exceed detergent quantities recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Use 60°C instead of 90°C, or 40°C instead of 60°C, to save energy. The "Cotton" 60°C program is recommended for cotton garments as it uses less energy, though it takes longer.
  • Select the highest available spin speed to reduce residual water in garments, saving energy and time.
  • Pretreat stains with a stain remover or dampen dried-on stains before washing to allow for lower wash temperatures.
