CAUTION: Only use genuine Makita batteries. Use of non-genuine or altered batteries may result in bursting, fire, personal injury, and damage, and will void the Makita warranty.

Tips for Maintaining Maximum Battery Life

  • Charge the battery before it is completely discharged. Stop operation and charge when tool power decreases.
  • Never recharge a fully charged battery cartridge; overcharging shortens service life.
  • Charge the battery cartridge at room temperature between 10 °C - 40 °C (50 °F - 104 °F). Let a hot battery cool down before charging.
  • Remove the battery cartridge from the tool or charger when not in use.
  • Charge the battery cartridge if it is not used for a long period (more than six months).

Functional Description

  • Installing or Removing Battery Cartridge: To remove, slide the cartridge out while pressing the button on the front. To install, align the tongue with the groove and slide in until it clicks. Ensure the red indicator is not visible for a secure lock. Do not force installation.
  • Indicating Remaining Battery Capacity: For batteries with an indicator, press the check button to display remaining capacity via indicator lamps. The first lamp blinking indicates the battery protection system is active.
  • Tool / Battery Protection System: The tool automatically cuts off power to extend life under conditions of overload, overheat (lamp blinks, overheat warning icon displayed), or overdischarge (low battery capacity). Turn off and let cool for overheat; restart for overload; charge for overdischarge.
  • Main Power Switch: Press to turn the tool on or off. The tool has an auto power-off function if the switch trigger is not pulled for a period after the main switch is turned on. Always turn off when not in use or when carrying.
  • Switch Action: Pull the switch trigger to start the tool; release to stop. Do not tape the trigger in the ON position.
  • Pressure Gauge: Displays current pressure value, target pressure value, pressure unit (PSI, BAR, KPA), inflation mode, and inflation progress. It shows "0" when no object is connected.
  • Setting Target Pressure: Press the [M] button to select the pressure unit (PSI, BAR, KPA). Use [+] to increase and [-] to decrease the target pressure value (35 kPa to 1,100 kPa / 5 PSI to 160 PSI).
  • Setting Inflation Mode: Press and hold the [M] button for 3 seconds to cycle through modes: Ball (35-110 kPa / 5-16 PSI), Low speed (35-1,100 kPa / 5-160 PSI), High speed (35-1,100 kPa / 5-160 PSI). Select Ball mode for balls and Low speed for English valves.
  • Front Lamp: The lamp lights up when the tool is turned on and turns off when turned off. It blinks if the tool overheats. Clean the lens with a dry cloth.
  • Storing Adapter: Adapters can be stored in the adapter holder. Insert the sport ball needle into the Presta valve adapter before storing.
  • Storing Hose: The hose can be attached to the hose holder.
  • Air Release Button: Press to release air if an object is overinflated. Note: Air does not release when the English valve adapter is attached.

Operation

  • Using the Schrader Valve Adapter: Attach the air chuck to the valve stem. Turn on the tool, set the appropriate pressure, and pull the trigger until the tool stops.
  • Using the Presta Valve Adapter: Loosen the locking nut on the valve stem. Attach the Presta valve adapter to the stem, then attach the air chuck. Turn on the tool, set pressure, and pull the trigger until the tool stops. Remove chuck/adapter and tighten the locking nut.
  • Using the Sport Ball Needle: Attach the needle to the air chuck. Insert the needle into the ball. Turn on the tool, set Ball mode and appropriate pressure, and pull the trigger until the tool stops.
  • Using the Tapered Adapter: Attach the adapter to the air chuck. Insert the adapter into the hole of the floating tube. Turn on the tool and inflate by pulling the trigger while checking the status of the tube. Do not rely on the pressure gauge for floating tubes at low pressures (<35 kPa / 5 PSI).
  • Using the English Valve Adapter: Insert the adapter into the air chuck. Attach the adapter to the valve stem while opening the valve. Turn on the tool. Inflate by pulling the trigger while checking the tire's status. Note: The pressure gauge may not display accurate values for English valves; rely on checking the tire's condition. Adjust pressure and re-inflate if needed.

Maintenance

Ensure the tool is switched off and the battery cartridge is removed before inspection or maintenance. Never use gasoline, benzine, thinner, alcohol, or similar substances, as they can cause discoloration, deformation, or cracks.
