Getting Started
InTempConnect is web-based software where you can monitor CX450 logger configurations and view downloaded data online. Using the InTemp app, you can configure the logger with your phone or tablet and then download reports, which are saved in the app and automatically uploaded to InTempConnect. Or, anyone can download a logger using the InTempVerify app if the loggers are enabled to be used with InTempVerify.
Steps:
- Set up the logger: Insert two AAA batteries (observe polarity), attach battery door securely.
- Download the InTemp app: Get it from the App Store® or Google Play™. Enable Bluetooth in device settings if prompted.
- Log in: For InTempConnect users, log in with your credentials and check "I am an InTempConnect user." For InTemp app only users, create an account and log in without checking that box.
- Set up a logger profile: Define a profile name, select CX450 for Logger Family, choose a Logging Interval, Start option, and any alarms. If using InTempVerify, enable it.
- Configure the logger: Connect to the logger via the app's Devices icon, select a profile, and tap Start to load settings.
Note: The CX5000 Gateway can also be used for automatic configuration.
Troubleshooting Connection Issues:
- Ensure the logger is within range (approx. 30.5 m / 100 ft line-of-sight).
- If connection is intermittent, move closer to the logger.
- Adjust mobile device orientation for better antenna alignment.
- If connection fails, close the app, power down the mobile device, and turn it back on.
Deploy and Start the Logger
Place the logger in the desired monitoring location. Logging will begin based on the profile settings. Once logging begins, press the Next button to cycle between current temperature and humidity readings, as well as minimum and maximum values.
Logger Alarms
Alarms can be set to trip when temperature or humidity readings fall above or below specified values. When an alarm trips:
- The logger LED blinks every 5 seconds.
- An alarm icon appears on the LCD and in the app.
- Audible alarms beep every 15 seconds (one beep for temperature, two for RH, one long for multiple alarms).
- An "Alarm Tripped" event is logged.
To mute a beeping alarm, press the Mute button. Download the logger to view details about the tripped alarm and to clear alarm indicators in the app and on the LCD.
Minimum and Maximum Values
The logger LCD displays the minimum and maximum temperature and humidity readings for the entire logging period. These values reset automatically when the logger is downloaded and restarted, or stopped and reconfigured. They can also be manually cleared by pressing both buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds until "HOLD" disappears from the LCD. Dashes (--) will appear temporarily until the next logging interval or until they are cleared again. Note: This clears the data displayed on the screen only; actual logger and reporting data are not cleared.
Passkey Protection
The logger is protected by an encrypted passkey. For InTempConnect users, it is automatically generated and locked to the account, requiring active users from that account to connect. For InTemp app only users, a passkey can be set up (up to 10 characters) to prevent unauthorized devices from connecting or altering the logger's settings. Only the device used to set the passkey can connect without entering it; other devices will require the passkey. A passkey can be reset by pressing both buttons for 10 seconds or via the app's "Set Logger Passkey" option.
Downloading the Logger
Download the logger to a phone or tablet to generate reports including temperature and humidity readings, events, and alarm information. Reports can be shared immediately or accessed later in the InTemp app. Options for downloading include:
- Download & Continue: The logger continues logging after download.
- Download & Restart: The logger starts a new data set using the same profile after download.
- Download & Stop: The logger stops logging after download.
Reports are uploaded to InTempConnect if you are logged in. Report type and sharing options can be configured in the app settings. The report is available in Secure PDF and XLSX formats.
Logger Events
The logger records the following events to track operation and status:
Event Name | Definition |
---|---|
Started | The logger started logging. |
Stopped | The logger stopped logging. |
Connected | The logger connected to the InTemp app. |
Downloaded | The logger was downloaded. |
Alarm | An alarm has tripped because the reading was outside the alarm limits or has cleared. |
Tripped/Cleared | An alarm has tripped because the reading was outside the alarm limits or has cleared. |
Safe Shutdown | The battery level dropped below 1.85 V; the logger performs a safe shutdown. |
Deploying and Protecting the Logger
Mount the logger using the four magnets on the back of the logger case to a magnetic surface. The logger is designed for indoor use and can be damaged by corrosion if it gets wet. Protect it from direct water contact. If the logger gets wet, remove the battery immediately and dry the circuit board. Note: Static electricity may cause the logger to stop logging. Avoid electrostatic discharge by grounding yourself.
Battery Information
The logger requires two user-replaceable AAA 1.5 V alkaline or optional lithium batteries. Expected battery life is typically 1 year, but varies based on ambient temperature, logging interval, connection frequency, audible alarms, and report generation. Note: Ensure batteries have flat negative terminals; avoid batteries with indents in the negative terminal, as they may become loose and prevent proper operation. ⚠️ WARNING: Do not cut open, incinerate, heat above 85°C (185°F), or recharge lithium batteries. They may explode if exposed to extreme heat or damaged. Do not dispose of batteries in fire or expose their contents to water. Dispose of batteries according to local regulations.
To install or replace the batteries:
- If the battery door is installed, use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove it.
- Remove any old batteries.
- Insert two new batteries observing polarity.
- Screw the battery door back into place.
