Kwikset History

Kwikset's history is marked by significant innovations in lock design and technology:

• 1946: Revolutionized residential lock design with the tubular lock, named "Kwikset" for its speedy installation.
• 1957: Became a subsidiary of American Hardware Corporation and established itself as the number one manufacturer of residential locksets.
• 1958: Introduced the "K" key design and a new plastic coating for locksets.
• 1989: Acquired by Black & Decker; continued industry leadership in product development.
• 1992: Launched the high-security Titan product line.
• 1998: Introduced the Titan remote keyless entry deadbolt and handleset, along with The Society Brass Collection.
• 1999: Kwikset and Price Pfister faucets were managed under the Black & Decker Hardware and Home Improvement (HHI) Group.
• 2001: HHI built new corporate headquarters in Lake Forest, CA.
• 2002: Introduced Kwik-Install™ for easier installation and reorganized product offerings into Kwikset Security®, Kwikset Maximum Security®, and Kwikset UltraMax Security®.
• 2003: Black & Decker acquired Baldwin Hardware and Weiser Lock.
• 2004: Added new products like the Cameron knob and Powerbolt® Touchpad Keyless Entry Electronic Deadbolt.
