Safety Instructions

• Do not touch probes or wires directly with bare hands during or immediately after cooking. Use heat-insulating gloves to prevent burns.
• Do not submerge the thermometer or probes in water when cleaning. Do not clean in a dishwasher. Lightly rinse with flowing water and wipe dry.
• Do not use corrosive chemicals for cleaning.

App & Connectivity

To use the Govee H5198, you need to download the Govee Home app:

• Prepare a smartphone or tablet running iOS 9.3 or above, or Android 4.3 or above.
• Download the Govee Home app from the App Store (for iOS devices) or Google Play (for Android devices).

Connecting to Wi-Fi

Follow these steps to connect your thermometer:

• Ensure your Wi-Fi router supports 2.4GHz and 802.11 b/g/n bands. 5GHz is not supported.
• Turn on Bluetooth on your mobile phone.
• Open the Govee Home app.
• Tap the "+" icon in the top right corner and select "H5198".
• Follow the on-screen instructions in the app to complete the connection.
• If the connection fails, recheck the steps or consult support.

Temperature Alerts & Alarms

• Cooking Temperature Alert: The device will sound an alarm and the app will send a notification when the monitored temperature reaches the preset cooking temperature.
• Battery High Temperature Alarm: Avoid placing the thermometer body in contact with high-temperature surfaces or environments. If the internal battery reaches 131°F (55°C), an alarm will be triggered, and the thermometer should be removed from the heat source. If the battery reaches 140°F (60°C), the thermometer will automatically shut down.

Charging Precautions

• When battery power reaches 10%, the battery indicator will flash at 1-second intervals.
• During charging, the indicator flashes at 2-second intervals.
• The indicator remains constantly lit when charging is complete.
• A full charge takes approximately 3.5 hours.
• The thermometer can be used continuously on battery power for about 24 hours.
• Use the provided Type-C cable for charging (Input: 5V=1.5A).

Troubleshooting

Cannot connect to Wi-Fi

• Verify the thermometer is connected to your Wi-Fi router's 2.4GHz network (5GHz is not supported).
• Ensure your Wi-Fi router's signal coverage reaches the thermometer's location (up to 328 ft / 100 m). Note that obstructions can limit range.
• Place the thermometer as close as possible to the Wi-Fi router.

Cannot power on/off

• Press the Power Button for 3 seconds to turn the thermometer on or off.
• When the device is on, pressing the Power Button cycles through displaying the current monitored temperature and the preset high temperature.
• If the thermometer freezes and does not respond to button presses, use a needle or similar object to press the shutdown button to turn it off. Then, press the Power Button for 3 seconds to turn it back on.
