Monopoly Ultimate Banking Edition: Game Guide
Welcome to the fast-dealing property trading game of Monopoly Ultimate Banking!
What's New in the Monopoly Ultimate Banking Game?
This is a fast version of the classic Monopoly game with some significantly different rules.
Houses
In this edition, you do not have to wait to own a colour set. Every property you buy gets a house immediately! Place the house on the number one square in the space's colour band to show the rent level. Rent increases each time someone lands on your property, or when you land on your own property. Move the house to reflect rent changes. The maximum rent level is 5, and rent cannot fall below level 1, unless a property is returned to the Bank to pay a debt, resetting its rent level.
The Gameboard
The gameboard features familiar property names but replaces Chance and Community Chest spaces with Event and Location spaces. Event spaces trigger Event cards that can alter rent levels, award or deduct money, or send players to Jail. Location spaces allow players to pay and move to any property on the board to buy it or increase its rent level. While trading is not part of this game, Location spaces can help players collect colour sets strategically.
Money, Money, Money!
Monopoly Ultimate Banking eliminates physical cash. The Ultimate Banking unit manages all transactions, tracking wealth and property ownership through bank and Title Deed cards. Event cards also influence gameplay. Each card tap produces a sound to confirm the transaction.
How to Play
The youngest player starts, and play proceeds clockwise. On your turn, roll both dice and move your token. Check the board space you land on for instructions. Rolling doubles grants an extra turn, but rolling doubles three times in a row sends you to Jail.
Winning the Game
The goal is to be the wealthiest player (money and property) when any one player goes bankrupt. The unit automatically calculates everyone's final standing.
Board Spaces Explained
- Unowned Properties: When you land on an unowned property, you must either buy it or it goes to auction. To buy, tap the Title Deed card, place a house on level 1, and tap your bank card. The unit deducts the cost and adds the property to your ownership. Rent increases each time the property is landed on.
- Owned Properties: If you land on a property owned by another player, you owe them rent. Tap the Title Deed card and your bank card; the correct rent is deducted and credited to the owner. The unit will then show the property's new rent level, and you must move the house up one level. If you own the property, your rent increases when someone lands on it; tap the Title Deed card and your bank card to update the unit.
- Event Spaces: Landing here means drawing an Event card. Tap the card on the unit and follow its instructions. Some events affect neighbours (adjacent properties).
- Location Spaces: Pay $100 to move to any property space. You can then buy it, increase its rent level if you own it, or do nothing.
Special Spaces
- GO: Collect $200 from the Bank when you land on or pass GO.
- Free Parking: Nothing happens when you land here.
- Just Visiting: If you land in Jail without being sent there, you are just visiting and nothing happens.
- Go To Jail: Move your token to the In Jail space immediately. Do not pass GO and do not collect $200. Your turn ends. While in Jail, you cannot collect rent or participate in auctions.
Getting Out of Jail
You have two options: pay $100 at the start of your next turn, or roll a double. You have three turns to roll a double. If you fail after three turns, pay $100 and use your last roll.
Running Out of Money
If you owe money, the unit will first use your available cash. If insufficient, you must use properties to cover the debt. The value of a property is its purchase price. If you owe another player, tap their Title Deed card to pay and transfer ownership. If you owe the Bank, return the Title Deed card and remove the house; the property becomes unowned. Any change is reflected on your bank card.
Bankruptcy
If you do not have enough money or property to pay a debt, you are bankrupt, and the game is over.
Auctions
If a player lands on an unowned property and chooses not to buy it at the listed price, it goes to auction. Any player can bid. To bid, tap the property's Title Deed card, then the bid button. Bids increase by $20 with each tap. The auction is timed. The highest bidder when the timer runs out must buy the property.
Cancelling the Last Transaction
Certain transactions, like paying rent, buying property, receiving salary, paying to get out of Jail, or paying a Location space fee, can be cancelled. From the default screen, press and hold the [cancel] and [confirm] buttons for about 5 seconds. You will hear a sound, and the relevant information will be updated. Only the most recent transaction can be cancelled. You cannot cancel if you are in debt.
Winning
The winner is the player with the most money and property when another player goes bankrupt. The unit calculates final standings. In case of a draw, the player with the highest-value property wins.
