This guide provides a brief introduction to the Pan/Tilt Home Security Wi-Fi Camera and the Tapo app, as well as regulatory information. Introduction

The smart camera functions help you stay connected to what you care about, whether it's your child, pet, or home security. Receive notifications when motion is detected and view video clips to check everything.

Appearance

The Pan/Tilt Home Security Wi-Fi Camera features a system LED, lens, microphone, speaker, DC power port, RESET button, and a microSD card slot.

System LED Status:

Microphone: Built-in internal microphone.

Note:

Do NOT insert objects into the hole.

Speaker: The sound comes out of the camera.

DC Power Port: Connect the power cord provided.

RESET Button: Press and hold for at least 5 seconds until the LED blinks red to reset your camera.

microSD Card Slot: Insert a microSD card and initialize it in the Tapo app for local recording.

Set Up Your Camera

  1. Step 1. Download Tapo App

    Get the Tapo app from the App Store or Google Play, or by scanning the QR code.

  2. Step 2. Log In

    Open the app and log in with your TP-Link ID. Create an account if you don't have one.

  3. Step 3. Add Your Camera

    Tap the '+' button in the app and select your model.

  4. Step 4. Configure Camera

    Follow app instructions to configure your camera and add it to your home network.

  5. Step 5. Place Camera

    Place your camera on a flat surface, or install it on a wall or ceiling using the provided mounting template and screws.

    Note:

    Make sure you affix the camera base using screws before securing the camera.

    1. Mark Position: Place the mounting template where you want the camera. For wall mounting, drill two holes through the indicated circles.
    2. Mount Base: Affix the camera base using the screws. For wall mounting, insert anchors into the holes and use the screws to affix the camera base over the anchors.
    3. Secure Camera: Attach the camera on the base and rotate to secure it.

Main Camera Controls

After setup, your camera will be listed on the home page. You can view and manage your camera from anywhere using the Tapo app.

Home Page

This page lists all added cameras. Tap a camera or go to Camera Preview > Manage to enter the Live View page.

Live View

Talk or Voice Call: Communicate with loved ones.

Pan & Tilt: Rotate your camera to monitor every angle of your room.

Privacy Mode: Enable to temporarily shut down surveillance for privacy.

Alarm: Turn on to get noticed when motion is detected.

Playback & Memory: Check all recordings and saved moments.

Camera Settings

On the Live View page, tap the settings icon ⚙️ to enter the Camera Settings page. You can change settings such as camera name, detection settings, recording schedules, notifications, and activity zones.

Me

This page allows you to edit your account, check saved moments, find FAQs, and access other Tapo app features.

Voice Control: Set up connections with third-party services to control your Tapo devices by voice.

Device Sharing: Share your Tapo devices with family members for joint management.

Pan & Tilt Control

On the Live View page, tap the Pan & Tilt icon ⬆️ to enter the control page. Use the Pan & Tilt panel to move your camera.

Pan & Tilt Settings: Tap ⬆️ to set the degree of camera movement per tap.

Vertical Cruise: Persistently move up and down.

Horizontal Cruise: Persistently move from left to right.

Mark Position: Tap to mark your current position for quick rotation to that direction.

Motion Detection

The Tapo app alerts you to activity and sends notifications when motion is detected. Insert a microSD card to record clips when motion is detected; otherwise, you will only receive notifications.

Note:

Initialize the SD card on the app before using it.

  1. Go to Camera Settings and tap Detection & Alerts to customize detection settings.
  2. Enable Motion Detection and Notifications on the Detection & Alerts page for motion alerts.

[Motion Sensitivity Description: A slider in the Tapo app to adjust motion sensitivity (Low, Normal, High). Higher sensitivity results in more recordings and notifications; lower sensitivity results in fewer.

  1. Customize Camera Alarm settings (Type: Sound/Light, Sound: Siren/Tone) and set an Alarm Schedule.
  2. Customize Activity Zones to detect motion only in specific areas. The entire view is covered by default.
  3. Adjust Motion Sensitivity (Low/Normal/High) as needed.
  4. Set the Recording Schedule for motion detection after configuring detection settings.

24-hour Recordings

The microSD card is needed for 24-hour recording. Initialize the SD card on the app before using it.

  1. On the Live View page, tap the settings icon ⚙️ to enter the Camera Settings page.
  2. Toggle on microSD Recording and set the Recording Schedule for Continuous Recording (24-hour Recording).

On the Live View page, tap the Playback & Memory icon ▶️ to find all recordings. Blue sections indicate continuous recording.

Privacy Mode

On the Live View page, tap the Privacy Mode icon ? to enable Privacy Mode. When enabled, streaming and recording functions are temporarily disabled to protect your privacy.
