Your BT Smart Hub 2 is designed to comply with European safety standards. Please read these instructions carefully before installation and use. Keep them for future reference.
Installation and Location
- For indoor use only in the UK.
- Keep the device upright on its feet at all times to prevent overheating.
- Position all parts, including power adapters, away from heat sources and direct sunlight.
- Ensure the area is well-ventilated and do not block vents with objects or thick carpets.
- Keep the device and cables out of reach of young children.
- Only use the power adapters provided by BT for this specific device.
- Keep devices and power adapters away from liquids and sources of water or splashes.
- Check restrictions before using or installing in locations like hospitals, as the device uses wireless technology.
- Place on a mat if necessary to prevent scratches or marks on fragile surfaces.
- Do not use near flammable substances or in a flammable atmosphere.
- Designed for use at room temperatures between 0°C and 40°C.
Care and Maintenance
- Handle all parts with care; avoid shocks, vibrations, and do not pull or twist cables.
- Dust with a soft dry cloth; do not use water or solvent.
- Regularly check that objects do not cover any parts or vents that could cause overheating.
- When not in use, store in a dry place away from extreme heat or cold.
Warnings
- If your devices or power adapters appear damaged, stop using them immediately. Switch off the electrical socket if safe to do so and contact BT support.
- Do not attempt to open devices or power adapters, as there are no serviceable parts and you risk electrical shock.
- This device complies with European Guidelines when operated with a minimum distance of 20cm between the unit and your body.
- Unplug the power and phone line cord during electrical storms to prevent potential damage.
- Consult your doctor before installation if you have a pacemaker.
- Radio signals from this product may cause interference to hearing aids.

Disposing of Your Old Electrical and Electronic Equipment
The symbol shown on the product indicates that it should not be disposed of in normal rubbish at the end of its working life. BT retains ownership of the equipment. Return it within 60 days of cancellation, or a charge may apply. Send your equipment back to BT for environmentally friendly disposal.
Let's Set Up Your Hub

Connect your Smart Hub 2
Plug the Ethernet cable (red ends) into your hub's WAN port. Connect the other end to your Openreach modem's PORT 1 / LAN 1 port. (Modem port configuration may vary.)

Power Up
Slide the two parts of the power supply together until they click. Connect the hub and turn it on. A blue light indicates the hub is ready after at least three minutes.

Connect Your Devices
Use your hub's network name and password (found on the back of the hub) to connect your devices. You can also scan the QR code for quick connection. If your device supports WPS, press the WPS button on the side of the hub and follow your device's instructions.

Manage Your Hub
Access Hub Manager by typing 192.168.1.254 into a web browser to manage settings, change the hub's name, or update passwords.
What Your Hub Lights Mean
- Blue: Hub connected to broadband.
- Flashing Purple: Issue might be with your device. Try restarting it.
- No Light: Power is off or lights are disabled in Hub Manager. Check power connection and Hub Manager settings.
- Green: Hub is starting up. Wait at least three minutes. If it stays green, restart the hub. If the issue persists, use a paper clip to press the factory reset button.
- Flashing Orange: Hub is connecting to broadband. Wait up to three minutes for it to turn blue. If it stays flashing, restart the hub. If the issue persists, use the factory reset button.
- Orange: Hub is working, but the Ethernet cable is not connected. Try a different LAN port on your Openreach modem.
- Red: Hub is working, but not connected to the internet. Connect a device and follow the on-screen help wizard in a new browser window.
- WPS button flashing: Waiting for WPS connection. Press the WPS button on your device within two minutes.
- Flashing Red (WPS): WPS connection failed. Try again in a couple of minutes.
