Panel Mounting and Installation
Important Safety and Handling Information
[Warning] Commissioning may only be carried out by qualified electricians! Pay attention to the "Five Safety Rules" (DIN VDE 0105, EN 50110). Before installation, ensure all connecting cables are undamaged.
[Caution] Avoid damage to the panel! The panel may only be installed in landscape format and parallel to the wall to ensure ventilation by convection.
Flush-mounted Installation
[Caution] Removing the glass: The glass must only be slid to the right to remove it. Do not tilt it.
[Tip] Further instructions for surface mounting or using adapters are supplied with the respective frame or adapter.
Preparation
[Note] It is recommended to secure the panel, as it may need to be completely disconnected from the power supply in rare cases.
Necessary Accessories for Installation
- Flush-mounted box (PNX14-10004) or surface-mounted frame (PNX14-10005)
- Glass cover
- Power supply unit 24 V DC for DIN rail (PNX12-10010) (recommended) or Power supply unit 24 V DC for the flush-mounted box (PNX12-10011)
[Caution] During final installation, the panel shifts approximately 4 mm to the right. Consider this displacement when positioning the flush-mounted box.
Installation in Brickwork
Diagram Description: A series of images showing the process of creating a recess, inserting the box, and routing cables for brickwork installation.
- Create a recess of H x W: 194 x 252 mm in the wall using the provided template. The flush-mounted box must be flush with the plastered wall.
- Depending on cable position, press out circular plates at the top or bottom of the box and insert self-sealing grommets to prevent cable damage.
- When inserting the box, route supply and communication cables (Ethernet, KNX) through different holes to avoid interference.
- Use the template as a splash guard during edge filling.
Installation in a Cavity Wall
Diagram Description: A series of images showing the process for cavity wall installation, including recessing, attaching wooden blocks, and routing cables.
- Create a recess of H x W: 194 x 252 mm in the wall using the provided template. The flush-mounted box must be flush with the plastered wall.
- Glue or screw the two provided wooden blocks into the cavity wall.
- Depending on cable position, press out circular plates at the top or bottom of the box and insert self-sealing grommets to prevent cable damage.
- When inserting the box, route supply and communication cables (Ethernet, KNX) through different holes to avoid interference.
- Screw the flush-mounted box to the wooden blocks using four screws.
- Use the template as a splash guard during edge filling.
Mounting the Voltage Source
[Note] For power supply units used in the flush-mounted box, refer to the manual for instructions.
[Warning] Avoid electric shock when touching live parts! Disconnect all circuit breakers before working on the device. Cover live parts in the surroundings.
Preparing the Voltage Source for the DIN Rail (Recommended)
- Use a power source: 24 V DC, 2.5 A for the control cabinet, item number: PNX12-10010.
- Connect cable wires with the pluggable screw terminal, paying attention to polarity.
- Place the power supply unit (PNX12-10011) in the flush-mounted box.
- Connect the 24 V side of the power supply unit with the plug-in screw terminal. Pay attention to polarity.
- Connect the mains cable to the 230 V side of the power supply unit.
[Note] For third-party boxes or power supply units, refer to the manual for earthing instructions.
Connecting and Mounting the Panel
Preparation
- Place screws (M3x12) for panel fixing within reach.
Connecting the Panel
- Connect the Ethernet cable to the panel.
- Plug the KNX cable (red +, black -) into the KNX terminal as indicated.
- Push the prepared 24 V connector terminals into the appropriate panel connectors, paying attention to polarity.
Fastening the Panel
- Insert the adapter into the flush-mounted back box, aligning its front edge ~1 mm beyond the plaster surface. Secure with two screws.
- Hook the panel into the adapter from the bottom, then slide it right to click into place. Magnets ensure final positioning and hold.
- Install the panel in the flush-mounted box using the remaining two countersunk screws (M3x12) in the slotted holes.
- Place the glass cover with magnetic holders into the four intakes until it rests against all corners.
- Ensure the camera opening is positioned on the upper screen.
Initial Commissioning and Operation
[Caution] Avoid damage to the panel due to early commissioning! Note climatic conditions at the installation site. Allow the device to adapt to conditions before switching on. Temperature/humidity differences can cause damage.
[Caution] Avoid damage to the glass cover and display! The touch surface can be easily damaged. Use only fingers or a touchpen. Do not use sharp objects.
Switching the Control 16 On and Off
The Control 16 starts automatically after power connection.
[Note] In delivery state, panel logs on as 'Control 16' without password. Additional users/settings can be changed in Windows Settings.
Switching On
- Remove glass cover by pulling it forward from both sides (magnetic mount).
- On/Off button is now accessible.
- Press the On/Off button to boot the operating system.
Switching Off
- Tap Windows logo on Start screen, select On/Off icon, then "Shut down".
[Note] More detailed info on touch/keyboard input is in the manual.
Control Panel Settings
Open the application via http://localhost:31521/ in the panel's browser or the taskbar icon.
Control: This tool provides access to brightness, ambient light, and proximity sensor settings.
Buttons: The five side buttons on the right can trigger actions like HTTP requests, device control commands, and logic actions. Logic actions are configured in the logic module under "Actions". Device commands require devices to be created in the Project Editor and are available as switching objects (e.g., on/off).
[Note] Function button configuration for device/logic functions requires YOUVI software. HTTP calls support function calls only, not web page requests. These can trigger actions on external systems like Gira HomeServer.
Software
The panel can be operated with supplied YOUVI software or other Windows-compatible software.
[Tip] After commissioning, create a backup using the optional PEAKnx recovery stick.
Operating System
The operating system is Microsoft Windows IoT Enterprise LTSC. Additional drivers and programs for building visualization/control can be installed later.
[Note] PEAKnx provides no service or warranty for third-party software or OS driver updates.
YOUVI Software Package
The included YOUVI Basic visualization software controls KNX devices (sockets, switches, lights, dimmers, RGB lights, heaters, blinds, shutters). The integrated IP router allows YOUVI visualization without an external server or bus coupler. Connection to IP network and KNX bus is necessary.
Setting up the Visualisation
After commissioning, set up visualization as per the quick start guide. Assumes KNX actuators are already parameterized via the ETS.
