Bosch Configuration Manager Release Letter
Product: Configuration Manager
Version: 7.62.0178
Date: 12.04.2023
1. General
Configuration Manager is a generic configuration tool for all Bosch IP Network Video Products, encompassing both software modules and hardware devices. It is utilized for the configuration and licensing of various products. Configuration Manager 7.62 is a maintenance release, based on version 7.61. It includes Video SDK 6.3 and the latest plug-ins for VCA configuration. This version primarily supports English; the other 10 languages are not yet fully translated.
Ensure you always use the latest released version.
2. Important Notes
- Configuration Manager 7 has excluded support for Bosch Video Client and BVIP Lite Suite. Installing it over a previous version will encrypt the database with strong encryption, rendering it unusable for older software.
- Configuration Manager 7.0 and higher are 64-bit applications and require a 64-bit Windows operating system.
- Security And Safety Things (S&ST) has been renamed to azena. While existing URLs may still function or redirect, future support might be limited to new domains, potentially causing connectivity issues. Bosch will monitor and support new URLs when accessible. If links break, Configuration Manager will require an update.
3. New Features
- An improved workflow has been introduced for licensing cameras via the Remote Portal, supporting both online and offline use cases. This wizard-like workflow clearly indicates the licensing process status and aids in managing licensing information and data.
4. Changes
- An issue with changing the IP address for more than 50 devices has been fixed.
- Several VCA issues have been resolved.
- An issue where various CPP3 devices appeared with an incorrect platform number has been fixed.
- Several issues with time zone settings on the HD decoder have been fixed.
5. Restrictions; Known Issues
- On MIC or AUTODOME cameras with FW < 7.70 and VCA configured, CM 7.20 may display configured lines, fields, and routes incorrectly. Saving such configurations can break VCA setup; using a recent CM version is recommended.
- FLEXIDOME IP starlight 5000i (IR) cameras may incorrectly appear as Device Type FLEXIDOME IP 4000i (IR).
- FTP addresses must be IP addresses only; URLs are not supported.
- After changing a device's IP address, the settings page may not update automatically; a manual refresh might be required.
- Uploading a configuration file that includes recording settings might be incomplete; manual verification of settings is advised.
- Special characters such as '<', '>', ':', '@' are not allowed in names and passwords. Using them via the Web GUI may prevent Configuration Manager from accessing devices.
- Saving an empty password might cause an I/O error message without affecting the setting.
- The database path must be re-entered if the previous installation did not use the default path.
- The 'Device info' dialog for Divar 700 only displays the general information tab and data retrievable via Video SDK interfaces.
- No IPv6 & DNS check is performed for VRM databases.
- For cameras with Intelligent Tracking, 'Click on object' is not supported by Configuration Manager.
- If no IPv6 network is available, DLA E-Series devices require initial IP address configuration by setting the PC's IP address within the storage's default IP range (e.g., 192.168.128.101 for discovery). Once set to a valid IP range, the Configuration Manager PC can use its standard IP address.
- Configuration Manager may encounter an access violation when an ONVIF camera with pan and tilt, but no zoom, is added to Video Streaming Gateway (e.g., Axis M3007).
- For legacy devices like VIDEOJET 8008 or VIDEOJET 10, tabs and buttons related to motion detection are deactivated, preventing configuration.
- FTP account passwords are not stored during Backup & Restore operations.
- The user interface for the DIVAR AN 3000/5000 FW upgrade feature is available only in English.
- If the DIVAR AN 3000/5000 FW upgrade transfer is interrupted by power or network failure, the system might enter a state where it cannot be upgraded again via Configuration Manager. In such cases, manual upgrade via the WEB UI or directly on the device is necessary.
- A FW upload for DIVAR AN 3000 or DIVAR AN 5000 can only be cancelled during the transfer phase. Once the file is transferred and the upgrade process begins, cancellation is not possible.
- For dual recording, Configuration Manager does not permit assigning the identical LUN to both recording entries.
- VCA tabs, such as Motion Detection, may not refresh after firmware upgrade or downgrade; manual refresh might be required.
- Device network settings configuration for VJD-7000 and VJD-8000 is not functional in the device tree's context menu (right-click). The network configuration page should be used instead.
- VRM-based ANR mode is no longer supported.
- Only one LUN lock can be overwritten per device at a time; lock acquisition occurs only when storage is needed for recording.
- Uploading an invalid certificate will result in I/O errors on the page.
- With cameras running firmware 6.4x and 'Silent VCA' mode, an incorrect VCA calibration tab might be displayed in 'event triggered' or 'scheduled' modes. A VCA profile must be selected first.
- Once authenticated, a user can still communicate with a device even if the smart token is removed. To prevent unauthorized access, Configuration Manager should not be left accessible when the smart token with the client certificate is removed.
- With CPP7.3 AUTODOME and MIC cameras, I/O errors might appear on the 'Logs' tab. The device's web page can be used to access logs and configure syslog functionality.
- Due to security concerns, basic authentication is no longer supported. Consequently, firmware cannot be uploaded to password-protected VJD-7000 running FW 54.8.x or older. An older version of Configuration Manager can be used, or the password can be temporarily removed.
- With certificate-based authentication, each Windows user should use only one Smart Card or user token for the same CA.
- If a storage array is reconfigured or cleared manually (e.g., using console or SanTricity instead of Bosch tools), all LUNs of all targets must be deleted from the VRM and re-added to update necessary information.
- Custom table views do not support adding dynamic content like user management or certificates.
- Configuration upload and download are not supported for cameras of the Remote Portal.
- Repository downloads including offline devices or devices not supporting configuration file download will show an error that can be ignored; all parameters handled by Configuration Manager will be stored in the repository.
- In rare cases, only a partial VRM device tree may be shown; restarting Configuration Manager provides a full display.
- Privacy masks and other orientation-related parameters must be checked and reassigned after rotating a camera.
- Uploading or exchanging certificates requires the device to be rebooted if running firmware below version 7.x.
- Stamping logos may sometimes lose transparency when converted by Configuration Manager. To avoid this, prepare logos with the correct size and color using other tools.
- Using "export from memory" with pre-alarm recording that exceeds available memory will cause continuous recording on account storage. It is advised to check the memory requirement of the pre-alarm ring to avoid unexpected consumption.
- Camera Calibration module does not function on Windows 10 Enterprise 2016 LTSB.
- For single-line devices, the 'device name' field is not displayed; the camera name is used for both.
- TLS 1.3 is not yet supported by Configuration Manager, although it allows this setting on CPP14 cameras running FW 8.30 or higher. Setting the minimum TLS version to 1.3 will lock out Configuration Manager.
- Windows fonts may appear invalid or missing after changing the screen scale factor. Refer to the Microsoft knowledge base for assistance: https://support.microsoft.com/de-de/help/4038303.
- For FLEXIDOME panoramic 5100i in on-board dewarping mode, with line 2 set to quad-view, only the first quadrant can be selected for PTZ control. As a workaround, use the camera's web page to configure the dewarped quad-view.
- For FLEXIDOME multi 7000i, the azimuth value for a camera module is located under 'coordinate system', unlike its position in the camera's web interface.
- Firmware upload to HD decoders requires HTTPS due to basic authentication being deprecated on unencrypted connections.
- Devices appear locked in Remote Portal if their user and live passwords are not configured.
- Note: If multiple Configuration Managers are used in the network, managing the same or overlapping device sets simultaneously may lead to unpredictable effects when writing to devices.
- Note: Due to the change to .NET 4.7.2, DiBos devices cannot be found by network scan if .NET 3.5 is not installed. Install .NET 3.5 in addition to the Configuration Manager package if required.
- Note: As per earlier 7.6x release notes, Configuration Manager 7.6 is no longer tested on Windows 7, which is now end-of-support.
