4. Installation
Transport and Storage
Transport and storage of Topvex SR/TR should be carried out in a way that prevents damage to panels, handles, display, etc. To avoid damage to the unit and its components, protection against dust, rain, and snow must be provided. The unit is wrapped in polyethylene as a single block with all necessary components and placed on a pallet for easy transport. Transport Topvex SR/TR units using a forklift (lift from the end sides).
Where and How to Install
The unit should be placed on a level horizontal surface. It is important to level the unit completely before commissioning. It is preferable to place the unit in a separate room (e.g., a utility room, laundry room, attic, or similar locations). Topvex SR 09, 11 can be installed outdoors if protected from atmospheric conditions. An outdoor unit is available as an accessory. Do not disconnect the unit installed in a cold location using the main switch. The electrical cabinet heats up under mains voltage even at low ambient temperatures. When choosing the installation location, consider that the unit requires regular maintenance and inspection doors must be easily accessible. Leave sufficient space for opening doors and removing main components (Figure 1 and Figure 2). Avoid placing the unit directly next to a wall, as low-frequency hum can cause wall vibration, even if the fan has acceptable noise levels. If this is unavoidable, thorough sound insulation of the wall is recommended. The outdoor air intake should be located on the north or east side of the building, at a significant distance from exhaust outlets (kitchen exhaust, laundry room, etc.).
Separating Ventilation Units Topvex TR
Procedure for Separating Topvex SR Unit
When delivered, the two halves of the Topvex unit are joined together. If necessary, they can be separated to facilitate transport to the installation site (see Figure 3 and Figure 4). Remove the heat exchanger, extract the supply air fan and the extract air filter. a) Loosen the cable connectors located on the panel. b. The two halves of the unit are joined by four M10 bolts (one in each corner). c. To remove the end panels, six MRX M6 bolts must be unscrewed using a PH2 bit tool. Reassembly in reverse order.
Figure 3: Left-hand unit
Note: During reassembly, do not mix up cables; see cable markings on the side.
Procedure for Separating Topvex TR Unit

Installation Procedure
- Prepare the mounting surface. It must be smooth, level, and strong (able to support the unit's weight). Follow regional regulations and directives.
- Move the unit to the installation site. (Warning: Beware of sharp edges during installation and maintenance. Use suitable lifting equipment. Wear protective clothing.)
- Use the supplied leveling feet to level the unit.
- Connect the unit to the power supply using a multi-pole circuit breaker (emergency stop). The power cable runs through the end panel of the unit (Topvex SR 09, 11) or through the top of the casing (Topvex TR 09-15) directly to the connection box. Refer to the accompanying wiring diagram and Section 4.6.6 for additional information. (Warning: Connection to mains supply must be protected by a multi-pole circuit breaker with a gap of at least 3 mm.) (Danger: Always disconnect the unit from the mains supply before performing maintenance or electrical work! All electrical connections must be made by authorized specialists in accordance with regional regulations and directives.)
Vertical Rotor Position (Topvex SR 09, 11)
Check and, if necessary, adjust the vertical position of the rotors after installing the unit to achieve optimal sealing of the brush seals and the rotor frame. Remove the filter for easier access.
Figure 7: Rotor position (left-hand unit)
Adjustment:
- Loosen two bolts.
- Remove cover.
- Adjust rotor height by loosening the rotor shaft's stop screw.
- Adjust the vertical rotor position by adjusting the two bolts on the rotor bracket.
- After adjustment, tighten the rotor shaft's stop screw (3), install the cover (2), and tighten the bolts (1).
Supply Air Sensor (Topvex SR 09, 11)
The supply air sensor is installed in the supply air duct at a distance of approximately 3 m from the unit (Figure 8). Section 4.6.6 specifies the connection terminals in the junction box to which the sensor is connected. Other temperature sensors are installed by the manufacturer. The supply air sensor is included in the unit's scope of supply.

Thermal Insulation and Condensation Protection
Extract and outdoor air ducts must be properly insulated to prevent condensation. Correct selection and installation of insulation on ducts connected to the unit are particularly important. All ducts installed in cold rooms and areas must be well insulated. Use mineral wool (at least 100 mm thick) with a plastic diffusion barrier as thermal insulation. For areas with very low outdoor temperatures during winter, additional insulation should be provided. Total insulation thickness should be at least 150 mm.
(Caution: When installing the unit in a cold location, protect all joints with thermal insulation and secure it with mounting tape. During storage and installation, connections and duct ends must be capped. Do not connect tumble dryers to the ventilation system.)
Silencers
To prevent noise from spreading through the ductwork, silencers should be installed on both supply and extract air ducts. To prevent noise from spreading between rooms via the ductwork and to reduce noise from the ductwork system itself, it is recommended to install silencers before each supply diffuser.
Electrical Connections
All electrical connections are located in the junction box, which is situated at the front of the unit (Figure 10). The cover is removed after unscrewing four screws (Figure 10). Before commissioning the unit, it is essential to study and understand all safety measures for working with electrical equipment. A diagram of external and internal electrical connections is attached. All external connections for additional equipment are made using the terminals located in the junction box (Section 4.6.6).

(Danger: Always disconnect the unit from the mains supply before performing maintenance or electrical work! All electrical connections must be made by authorized specialists in accordance with regional regulations and directives.)
Junction Box, Components
Topvex SR/TR units are equipped with integrated controllers and internal wiring (Figure 11). The figure shows the junction box of Topvex TR 09-15 units. The junction box of Topvex SR 09, 11 has a similar layout and components, with the difference that the electric heater is located in a separate compartment.
