Welcome

Congratulations! By selecting the Waterpik® Water Flosser, you are now on your way to better gum health and a healthier smile!

With a clinically proven combination of water pressure and pulsations, the Waterpik® Water Flosser removes harmful bacteria deep between teeth and below the gumline – where brushing alone won't reach.

Thank you for choosing the Waterpik® Water Flosser.

Traditional Oral Care vs. Waterpik Water Flosser

Traditional Oral Care

Traditional brushing can't easily reach hidden food debris and harmful bacteria. Flossing has limited access below the gumline.

Tip Types

The Waterpik Water Flosser comes with various tips for different cleaning needs. Note: Not all tips are included in all models.

Diagram Description: Three distinct tips are illustrated: the Classic Jet Tip (pointed), the Tongue Cleaner Tip (scoop-shaped), and the Pik Pocket™ Tip (flexible and angled).

Getting Started

1. Plug In

Plug the cord into an electrical outlet. If the outlet is controlled by a wall switch, ensure it is turned on.

2. Preparing the Reservoir

Remove the reservoir from the base. Fill the reservoir with lukewarm water. Replace the reservoir over the base and press down firmly to ensure a proper seal.

Diagram Description: An illustration shows the reservoir being lifted off the base and then placed back onto it, with a note to press down firmly.

3. Inserting and Removing Tips

To insert a tip: Pull the knob on the top of the handle toward the hose and insert the tip into the center of the knob. The colored ring will be flush with the end of the knob if the tip is correctly locked into place.

To remove a tip: Pull the knob on the top of the handle toward the hose and pull the tip from the handle.

4. Adjusting the Pressure Setting

Slide the pressure control switch located on the handle to the lowest setting (away from the tip) for first-time use. Gradually increase pressure over time to the setting you prefer, or as instructed by your dental professional.

Diagram Description: A hand is shown sliding the pressure control switch on the flosser handle to a lower setting.

5. Placement in Mouth

Lean low over a sink and place the jet tip in your mouth. Aim the tip toward your teeth.

Diagram Description: A person is depicted leaning over a sink, with the flosser tip positioned inside their mouth, aimed at the teeth.

6. Using the Unit

With your free hand, slide the on/off switch on the base of the unit to the “up” position. Set the pressure to your desired setting.

Direct the stream by turning the knob at the top of the handle.

Diagram Description: A hand is shown holding the flosser handle, with the tip directing a stream of water. The knob at the top of the handle is indicated for directing the stream.

Recommended Technique

Direct the jet stream at a 90-degree angle to your gumline. Close your lips slightly to avoid splashing, but allow water to flow freely from your mouth into the sink. For best results, start in the molar area (back teeth) and work toward the front teeth. Glide the jet tip along the gumline and pause briefly between teeth. Continue until all areas around and between the teeth have been cleaned.

Diagram Description: An illustration shows the water stream hitting the gumline at a 90-degree angle. A diagram of teeth numbered 1 through 4 indicates the recommended sequence for cleaning: starting from the back teeth (1, 2) and moving towards the front (3, 4).

Pause Control

You can temporarily stop the flow of water at any time by pressing the pause button on the handle.

Diagram Description: A hand is shown pressing the pause control button located on the flosser handle.

When Finished

Turn the unit off. Empty any liquid left in the reservoir. Unplug the unit.

Tip Usage

Pik Pocket™ Tip Usage

The Pik Pocket™ Tip is specifically designed to deliver water or antibacterial solutions deep into periodontal pockets. It is not intended for general use.

To use the Pik Pocket™ Tip, lean low over your sink and place the soft tip against a tooth at a 45-degree angle. Gently place the tip under the gumline, into the pocket. Turn the unit on to the lowest pressure setting and clean by gently following the gumline, inserting the tip in between teeth. Continue tracing along the gumline until all areas of the mouth are clean.

NOTE: This tip must be used only with the Pressure Control set to the lowest setting. Use on a higher setting will shorten the life of the tip and handle.

Tongue Cleaner Tip Usage

Lean over the sink. Place the tongue cleaner on your tongue and start the Water Flosser, using the lowest pressure setting, increasing as comfortable. Gently place the tongue cleaner in the center/midline of your tongue about halfway back and with light pressure, pull forward.

Diagram Description: An illustration shows the tongue cleaner tip being used on the surface of the tongue, with a gentle pulling motion.

Replacement tips/attachments may be purchased directly from the local distributor.

Using Mouthwash and Other Solutions

Your Waterpik® Water Flosser can be used to deliver mouthwash and antibacterial solutions. Ask your dental professional to recommend the appropriate solution for you. Note: Use of some antibacterial solutions could shorten the life of your Waterpik® Water Flosser.

After using any special solution in the reservoir, take a moment after every use to rinse the unit. Partially fill the reservoir with warm tap water. Aim the tip into your sink. Turn on the unit and let it run until empty. This will help keep the tip from clogging and help your unit to last longer.

Recommended Tip Replacement Intervals

To ensure optimal performance and hygiene, it is recommended to replace tips at the following intervals:

Diagram Description: An infographic shows the Pik Pocket™ Tip with a recommendation to replace every 3 months, and the Classic Jet Tip and Tongue Cleaner Tip with a recommendation to replace every 6 months. A scale indicates time intervals from 0 to 6 months.
