The JA-162J One-Way Two-Button Keyfob
Introduction
The JA-162J is a component of the JABLOTRON 100 system, utilizing one-way communication. It is designed for the remote control of security systems, various appliances via PG programmable outputs, or to trigger panic alarms. The keyfob can also be enrolled to multipurpose relays, such as the AC-16x series, for direct relay control based on pre-set modes. It features optical and acoustic indication and monitors its battery status, alerting users when the battery is nearly discharged.
The keyfob has two buttons, labeled [Button A] and [Button B], and an indicator [red LED]. Their functions are detailed in Table 1.
Enrolling the Remote Control to a Control Panel
To use the JA-162J with a control panel, a JA-11xR radio module must be installed in the panel. The keyfob can be enrolled to an unlimited number of JABLOTRON 100 systems, and a single pair of buttons can control multiple system sections simultaneously (common control). It occupies one position within the system.
Procedure
- Ensure the control panel is in service mode.
- Launch the F-Link software and navigate to the Devices tab. Select the required position and initiate enrollment mode.
- To transmit an enrollment signal, press and hold both [Button A] and [Button B] simultaneously for at least 3 seconds. During this time, the [red LED] will flash rapidly.
- After 3 seconds, the enrollment signal is sent and confirmed by a single long [red LED] flash. Release both buttons and exit enrollment mode.
To set the keyfob to comply with Security Grade 2, use the F-Link SW Parameters tab and select the "Perform EN50131-1" option. Refer to the JA-10xK control panel installation manual for details.
Notes on Enrollment
- Enrollment is also possible by entering the production code via F-Link software. This code is found on the sticker with a barcode attached to the battery holder inside the remote. All 14 digits of the production code are required (format: 1400-00-0000-0001).
- To remove a lost or compromised remote control from the system, erase it from its specific address in the control panel.
Setting the Properties
Keyfob settings are managed through the F-Link software. Navigate to the Devices tab, click on the JA-162J's Internal settings, and a configuration window will appear.
Button Functions
You can assign specific functions to the button pair ([Button A]+[Button B]) for actions like setting/unsetting the system, or controlling appliances (e.g., turning them ON/OFF). Individual buttons ([Button A], [Button B]) can be assigned functions like opening gates or garage doors. A double press of the [Button A]+[Button B] pair can also trigger a specific function, such as activating the next available button function.
Reaction for single buttons (A/B) | Reaction for pressing simultaneously (A + B) | Reaction for pair of buttons (segment function) (A - B) |

Notes on Button Functions
- *) The "Copy PG" reaction for a double press is limited to a 1-second impulse for the selected PG. Unlike single button presses, double presses do not send a repeated 1-second activation signal.
- **) Certain button reactions are not supported when the system is configured for Security Grade 2.
- The "Do not set with active zone" option prevents system setting via the keyfob if any zone with an instant reaction is active. All zones/detectors must be in standby for system setting.
- When a button is pressed and held (for the "Copy PG" function), activation is sent continuously every 1 second for a maximum duration of one minute. This can extend the impulse of a PG output, provided the PG output is set to the "Copy" function.
User Access Privileges and Identity
The keyfob can be configured to take over a user's access privileges, allowing time-limited access to specific sections based on individual user settings. This respects individual access rights and limited section access if pre-configured. Factory default: disabled.
The keyfob can also take over a user's identity, making that user appear as the source in the event log. Factory default: disabled.
Operation with a Multipurpose Relay (MPR)
The keyfob can be enrolled to a multipurpose relay of the AC-16x series to control a relay according to a chosen mode. Each button can be enrolled with a different mode, and one keyfob can be enrolled to multiple MPRs for various functions. When enrolling a keyfob to both a control panel and an MPR within its RF range, ensure that different buttons are selected for each. To enroll a keyfob to an MPR, follow the specific installation manual for that MPR.
Locking the Keyfob
The keyfob buttons can be locked to prevent accidental activation. By default, the buttons are unlocked, and any press triggers its assigned function immediately. If the buttons are locked, a control panel command is sent only when a button is pressed twice quickly (within 1 second), which also applies to the panic function.
Activation: Press and hold both [Button A] and [Button B] simultaneously. The [red LED] will flash once, then flash rapidly after 3 seconds. During the rapid flashing, release [Button B] and press it again. Activation is confirmed by double flashes of the [red LED] and a double beep. Release all buttons after confirmation.
Deactivation: Repeat the activation procedure. Deactivation is confirmed by a single flash of the [red LED] and a single beep. Release all buttons.
Caution: If a reaction for simultaneous pressing of [Button A]+[Button B] is set (e.g., for a panic alarm or garage door control), ensure the intended action is performed first before attempting to lock/unlock.
Acoustic Indication
Acoustic indication, which provides a short audible signal upon each button press (as detailed in Table 2), can be completely disabled. The default setting is enabled.
Disabling/Enabling: To disable acoustic indication, press and hold both [Button A] and [Button B] until the [red LED] flashes briefly for the second time (approximately 6 seconds). When the [red LED] flashes a second time, release [Button B] and press it again. Acoustic indication is now disabled, confirmed by flashes of the [red LED] and a single beep. Release all buttons. To re-enable acoustic indication, repeat the procedure. Activation is confirmed by double flashes of the [red LED] and a double beep.
Caution: If a reaction for simultaneous pressing of [Button A]+[Button B] is set (e.g., for a panic alarm or garage door control), ensure the intended action is performed first before attempting to disable/enable acoustic indication.
LED Indication Table
Action | Indication |
---|---|
Activation (pressing) the button | 0.5 s flash of [red LED]; 1x short acoustic signal |
Send enrollment signal | 1 s flash of [red LED] |
Deactivation (turn off) keyfob lock or deactivation of acoustic indication | 0.5 s flash of [red LED]; 1x short acoustic signal |
Activation (turn on) keyfob lock or activation of acoustic indication | 2x 0.5 s flash of [red LED]; 2x short acoustic signals |
Low battery | Short flash of [red LED]; 3x short acoustic signals |
Holding the button - transmitting of maintained signal for PG copy | flashing 2x per 1 s; 1x short acoustic signal |
Battery Replacement
A low battery condition is signaled on the remote control after any button press. The assigned action is performed, and the [red LED] flashes three times with quick beeps. This low battery information is also transmitted to the control panel. While the remote continues to function, its RF range may gradually decrease. The low battery indication is cleared once a new battery is inserted.
Procedure: To change the battery, unscrew the two screws located on the back plastic casing. Remove the cover with the metal strut from the housing. Press any button a few times to discharge any residual energy from the capacitors, then insert a new battery.
Disposal: Do not discard used batteries in household trash. Please take them to a suitable recycling station.
