3 Preparation and Commissioning

Do not place the ONO and its individual parts in the dishwasher.

Before cleaning, remove the power plug from the socket. Always wipe the ONO with a damp cloth, never wet, and protect it from constant spray water. The ONO must not be cleaned with a water jet.

The ONO is not suitable for placement on a surface where a water jet could be applied.

Setting up the Appliance:

Observe the following points when setting up your ONO:

First Commissioning:

WARNING: Risk of electric shock if operated with a damaged power cable.

CAUTION: Milk, carbonated mineral water, or other liquids can damage the water tank or the appliance.

Steps:

Filter Installation (CLARIS Smart):

The appliance automatically detects that the filter cartridge has just been inserted. The [filter symbol] and [function button] lights illuminate.

Press the [function button] to confirm filling the water tank. The [espresso button], [coffee button], and [filter symbol] flash; the filter is rinsed. Water flows directly into the drip tray. The filter rinsing stops automatically. The [drip tray symbol] light illuminates.

Empty the drip tray and the coffee grounds container and reinsert them. The [filter symbol] flashes twice to confirm the filter rinsing. The [espresso button] and [coffee button] flash while your ONO heats up. Once the [espresso button] and [coffee button] are illuminated, your ONO is ready for use.

4 Preparation

Stand-by and "Ready" Mode:

As soon as the ONO is connected to the mains via the power plug, it is in stand-by mode. Press one of the buttons [function button], [espresso button] or [coffee button] to switch on the ONO. If the [espresso button] or [coffee button] lights up, your ONO has heated up and is ready.

Rotary Dial Positions and Operation:

The rotary dial may only be pressed down in the "Brewing Position". Do not move the rotary dial while the pump is running.

Using Ground Coffee:

Filling the Water Tank:

If the [water tank symbol] appears during preparation, you can fill and reinsert the water tank within 5 minutes. Then press the [function button] to confirm. Coffee preparation will continue.

Espresso and Coffee:

Example: Coffee

Prerequisite: The rotary dial is in the "Filling Position".

The brewing pressure built up during preparation may cause the rotary dial to lift slightly during the brewing process and lock into the next locking point.

To interrupt preparation, press one of the buttons [function button], [espresso button] or [coffee button].

The coffee grounds are automatically conveyed to the coffee grounds container.

Adjusting Water Quantity Permanently for Cup Size:

You can permanently adjust the water quantity for both coffee specialties to the cup size. This setting only needs to be done once. For all subsequent preparations, this amount will always be dispensed.

Procedure: Prepare a coffee specialty as described in the previous chapter. However, keep the preparation button pressed until enough coffee is in the cup. Then release the button. Preparation stops, the [filter symbol] flashes twice to confirm. The set water quantity is permanently saved.

You can change this setting at any time by repeating the process.

5 Daily Operation

Turning the Appliance On:

Prerequisite: The power plug is inserted.

Filling the Water Tank:

Daily care of the appliance and hygiene in handling coffee and water are crucial for consistently perfect coffee results. Therefore, change the water daily.

CAUTION: Milk, carbonated mineral water, or other liquids can damage the water tank or the appliance.

Maintenance Tasks:

Optimal coffee quality depends on many factors. Consistent care of your ONO is an important prerequisite. Perform the following tasks:

Maintenance Task Daily As Needed Notes
Empty and rinse the drip tray and coffee grounds container with warm water (the drip tray, the insert for the drip tray, and the coffee grounds container are dishwasher-safe; the control panel and cup platform are not). Always empty the coffee grounds container when the appliance is switched on (stand-by or "ready" mode). This is the only way the coffee grounds counter is reset.
Rinse the water tank
Wipe the appliance surface with a clean, soft, damp cloth (e.g., microfiber).
Clean the removable insert funnel for ground coffee.
Rinse the system. Before or after extended periods of non-use, perform a preparation without ground coffee to rinse the system with hot water (place a container under the spout for this purpose).
Remove and rinse the hood. Before each cleaning, remove and rinse the hood (see Chapter 6 "Care – Remove and Rinse Hood").
Clean the inner walls of the water tank with a brush.
Clean the top and underside of the cup platform.

Turning the Appliance Off:

5 minutes after the last preparation, your ONO switches to stand-by mode. To completely disconnect the ONO from the mains, remove the power plug from the socket.
