- Do not rub the power cable against sharp edges or pinch it.
- Never let the power cable hang loosely. The power cable can become a tripping hazard or be damaged.
- Protect the ONO from weather influences and direct sunlight.
- Connect the ONO only to the mains voltage specified on the type plate. The type plate is located on the underside of the appliance.
- Connect the ONO directly to a household socket. Using multi-way adapters or extension cords poses a risk of overheating.

- Switch off the appliance if you will be away for an extended period. To do this, remove the power plug from the socket.
- Use only original JURA care products. Products not explicitly recommended by JURA can damage your ONO.
Risk of Electric Shock: Water conducts electricity. Keep water and electricity separate:
- Never touch the power plug with wet hands.
- Do not immerse the ONO and the power cable in water.
3 Preparation and Commissioning
Do not place the ONO and its individual parts in the dishwasher.
Before cleaning, remove the power plug from the socket. Always wipe the ONO with a damp cloth, never wet, and protect it from constant spray water. The ONO must not be cleaned with a water jet.
The ONO is not suitable for placement on a surface where a water jet could be applied.
Setting up the Appliance:
Observe the following points when setting up your ONO:
- Place the ONO on a horizontal surface that is resistant to water.
- Choose the location for your ONO so that it is protected from overheating.
First Commissioning:
WARNING: Risk of electric shock if operated with a damaged power cable.
- Never operate an appliance with damage or a damaged power cable.
CAUTION: Milk, carbonated mineral water, or other liquids can damage the water tank or the appliance.
- Fill the water tank exclusively with fresh, cold water.
Steps:
- Plug the power plug into a socket.
- Press one of the buttons [function button], [espresso button] or [coffee button] to switch on the ONO. The [filter symbol] and [water tank symbol] lights illuminate.
- Remove the water tank and rinse it with cold water.
Filter Installation (CLARIS Smart):
- Attach the supplied extension to the filter cartridge CLARIS Smart at the top.
- Insert the filter cartridge with the extension into the water tank.
- Fill the water tank with fresh, cold water and reinsert it.
The appliance automatically detects that the filter cartridge has just been inserted. The [filter symbol] and [function button] lights illuminate.
Press the [function button] to confirm filling the water tank. The [espresso button], [coffee button], and [filter symbol] flash; the filter is rinsed. Water flows directly into the drip tray. The filter rinsing stops automatically. The [drip tray symbol] light illuminates.
Empty the drip tray and the coffee grounds container and reinsert them. The [filter symbol] flashes twice to confirm the filter rinsing. The [espresso button] and [coffee button] flash while your ONO heats up. Once the [espresso button] and [coffee button] are illuminated, your ONO is ready for use.
4 Preparation
Stand-by and "Ready" Mode:
As soon as the ONO is connected to the mains via the power plug, it is in stand-by mode. Press one of the buttons [function button], [espresso button] or [coffee button] to switch on the ONO. If the [espresso button] or [coffee button] lights up, your ONO has heated up and is ready.
Rotary Dial Positions and Operation:
- "Filling Position": In this position, fill the ground coffee into the insert funnel. When not in use, place the rotary dial in this position.
- "Brewing Position": In this position, pull the release lever and press the rotary dial down to press the ground coffee.
The rotary dial may only be pressed down in the "Brewing Position". Do not move the rotary dial while the pump is running.
Using Ground Coffee:
- Use exclusively (freshly) ground coffee, not beans or instant coffee.
- Never fill more than two level measuring spoons of ground coffee.
- Very finely ground coffee can clog the system and the coffee will only drip through slowly. In this case, use coarser ground coffee.
Filling the Water Tank:
If the [water tank symbol] appears during preparation, you can fill and reinsert the water tank within 5 minutes. Then press the [function button] to confirm. Coffee preparation will continue.
Espresso and Coffee:
Example: Coffee
Prerequisite: The rotary dial is in the "Filling Position".
- Place a cup under the coffee spout.
- Remove the lid of the insert funnel.
- Fill the desired amount of ground coffee into the insert funnel (max. 2 level measuring spoons).
- The amount of ground coffee controls the intensity and aroma of the coffee specialty according to your personal taste preferences.
- Turn the rotary dial to the "Brewing Position".
- Pull the release lever and press the rotary dial down to press the ground coffee.
- Release the release lever. The rotary dial is locked.
- Press the [coffee button]. The preset amount of water for the coffee flows into the cup.
The brewing pressure built up during preparation may cause the rotary dial to lift slightly during the brewing process and lock into the next locking point.
To interrupt preparation, press one of the buttons [function button], [espresso button] or [coffee button].
- Operate the release lever and pull the rotary dial upwards.
- Turn the rotary dial to the "Filling Position".
The coffee grounds are automatically conveyed to the coffee grounds container.
Adjusting Water Quantity Permanently for Cup Size:
You can permanently adjust the water quantity for both coffee specialties to the cup size. This setting only needs to be done once. For all subsequent preparations, this amount will always be dispensed.
Procedure: Prepare a coffee specialty as described in the previous chapter. However, keep the preparation button pressed until enough coffee is in the cup. Then release the button. Preparation stops, the [filter symbol] flashes twice to confirm. The set water quantity is permanently saved.
You can change this setting at any time by repeating the process.
