PAL PCR-1Z Lighting Controller Instructions

DIMENSIONS

Diagrams show the dimensions and knockout locations for the PCR-1Z lighting controller enclosure.

• Two 13/16" / 21.0mm knockouts are fitted on both sides of the enclosure for cable entry.
• Three conduit holes are present on the bottom of the enclosure.

Knockout Instructions: It is recommended to fit the cover and ensure screws are tight before removing knockouts. To remove knockouts, use a flat blade screwdriver (3/16" / 4mm blade) and a light hammer tap on the screwdriver handle. Alternatively, drill location points are provided in the center of each knockout for using a hole saw.

PCR-1Z Class 2 Outdoor Driver/Receiver for 12V D/C PAL 4 Wire LED Lights

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

The PCR-1Z is specifically designed to supply 24V DC to power PAL 4 Wire UL Listed LED Pool lights. Installation must comply with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and be performed by a Certified Electrician or Qualified Pool Technician.

NOTE: No bonding is required from this Class 2 power supply to the UL Listed PAL Pool Light fixtures due to their all-plastic construction, complying with NEC article 680 requirements.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR PCR-1Z RGB OUTDOOR DRIVER

1. Mounting: Mount the weatherproof (IP65) PCR-1Z Class 2 Power Supply on a flat surface using the provided mounting legs and appropriate fixtures. Position it suitably for the PAL 4 Wire LED Pool Lights and ensure compliance with NEC and local codes.
• NOTE: The Driver Enclosure must be at least 5 feet horizontally from the pool's inside wall and at least 1 foot above the maximum pool water level.
• NOTE: For mounting on concrete or block walls, mark hole locations, drill 3/16" holes using a masonry drill, insert supplied Star Plugs, and secure with stainless steel screws.
2. Power Supply Connection: Use the conduit entry on the bottom right side of the PCR-1Z to connect the 100-120V power supply, adhering to NEC code requirements.
3. LED Light Connection: Use the remaining conduit entries at the bottom of the PCR-1Z to connect the 4-core wire from the PAL 4 WIRE LED LIGHTS. Ensure correct terminal connections. The enclosure supports up to 2 x PAL-LED 4 Wire Pool Lights via two output conduit entries.
4. Transmitter Setup: The PCR-1Z is factory set for the PCZ-2 Transmitter. Install the 2 supplied batteries into the PCZ-2. Refer to the PCZ-2 transmitter manual for full operating instructions.

WIRING DIAGRAM

Diagram shows the internal components and wiring connections for the PCR-1Z RGB Outdoor Driver.

• Components: Manual Operation Button, Code Setting Button, LED Indicator, Module Configuration DIP Switches (S1, S2, S3, MODE), Wi-Fi Connector, Terminal block (EARTH, ACTIVE, NEUTRAL), and output terminals (A, N, EARTH, BLUE, GREY, RED, WHITE).
• Connections: Wi-Fi module connects to the PCB inside the enclosure lid. All PCR-1Z drivers are supplied with one PCZ-2 Hand Held Transmitter & Wall Holder.
• Notes:
• The PCR-1Z is suitable for PAL 4-wire lights.
• Knockouts allow connection of up to 2 x PAL 4-wire UL Listed Pool Lights.
• An unlimited number of drivers can be controlled by one transmitter.
• A maximum of 4 transmitters can be coded to an individual PCR-1Z.

Wiring Diagram Description: Shows connections from a 110-240V Power Supply to the PCR-1Z via a 1/2" PVC Conduit. Two PAL 4 Wire LED Lights are connected to the output terminals of the PCR-1Z.

CLONING SETTINGS

Code Setting Switches: Four DIP switches (Switch 1, Switch 2, Switch 3, Switch 4) are used to set the operating mode (JANDY, PENTAIR, HAYWARD, PAL, ASTRAL).

Notes:

• Turn off power before changing DIP switch settings.
• When syncing PAL lights with other OEM lights, static colors will match, but color change mode timing may vary.
• For Automation use, do not use the handheld remote and disconnect the Wi-Fi module if equipped.
• If Automation fails to control the lights, press the Z1 button once on the PAL Driver to turn it on.
• PAL features like infinite color selection and dimmability are not available in Cloned mode.

PAL TOUCH PCZ-2 TRANSMITTER HAND HELD REMOTE

Controls:

• ON/OFF: Powers the unit on or off.
• COLOR WHEEL: Selects any color and brightness (B).
• OPERATIONAL RED LED: Flashes during remote operations.
• BRIGHTNESS (UP/DOWN): 5 brightness settings (100%, 80%, 60%, 40%, 20%).
• ZONE (UP/DOWN): Zone selection (not applicable to single zone controllers).
• MODE SELECTION (UP/DOWN): Selects various lighting modes: White, Color Change, Disco, White Gradual Change, Blue Gradual Change, Green Gradual Change, Red Gradual Change. Modes can have adjustable speed (S) and delay settings.

FEATURES

1. Matching Code: Apply power to the receiver, then press Z₁ within 5 seconds. A white flash (3 times) indicates success.
2. Clearing Code: Apply power to the receiver, then hold Z₁ for 3 seconds. A flash (6 times) indicates success. A new code must then be applied.
3. One transmitter (PCZ-2) can operate an unlimited number of receivers (PCR-1Z).
4. One receiver (PCR-1Z) can be controlled by a maximum of 4 transmitters (PCZ-2).
5. Touching the color wheel resets any mode selection.
6. Memory Feature: Remembers the last color selection after power off.
7. Once coded, the receiver remembers the code even after power loss.

AUTOMATION DEDICATED LIGHT OUTPUT RELAY FOR CLONE MODE

• Note: Wi-Fi is not needed for clone mode and should be disconnected if not in use.
